Belmont: Wednesday 10/14 Plays R8 - Pete's Picks

We kick off another week with Eight races scheduled at the new Belmont Park. I will be condensing my plays down to just the numbers and attacking the early double starting in R2 (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 3-5). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 6-8). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

R2: 2 Cost: $ 10.00

R4: 2, 5
R5: 3, 6 Cost: $ 12.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
They appear to be several speeds in this bottom claimer sprint, so I'll focus on a closer. (2) CARADISE will drop back towards the tail of the field and make a run late. She has been facing better all year and has had some slow starts. That makes it tough to close against better. She may have found her friends today and sports the best last-out speed figure. That should set her up nicely for a run through the lane.
I’ll use (1) Bellacose and (3) Ah Ca Ira underneath for the exacta.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 2, 3 Cost $ 18.00
We’ll also use (2) Caradise in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.
(2) Sol Mayor and (5) Brothers Walsh in the 4th.
$ 7.00 Daily Double 2 w/ 2, 5 Cost $ 14.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 6:
(1) DISCO TIME is the speed and the one to beat, but is he the colt he was a year or two ago? I'll use him, but I prefer the other Cox running him down. (4) MY WORLD adds L1 like his stablemate and has been here training up to his return. Both have been in the barn for some time, so I would hesitate to lean on just these two. (3) BE YOU is the one I'll try to beat them with. He just missed at 7F, and they cut him back to 6F here. He's been no worse than 2nd with medication in four starts, and he's on it today.
$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 3, 4 Cost $ 18.00
Race 7:
(2) JACK AND JIM was a budding star back in '24 and then went on the shelf. He's starting to get his mojo back with a solid effort at the Spa this year. Guessing he's ready to roll now with steady works after that effort. (7) INSPEIGHTOFCHARLIE was too far back to make an impact in a common race where more than half this field were in there. Katie gives him a try and we'll get a better price today. (6) SMOOTH BREEZE is the wise guy for me. He was too wide and lost some ground, so getting to the hedge could make the difference.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 2, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00
Race 8:
(8) LOVEONTHELEFTBANK is the speed, and she may be alone up front. That makes her dangerous if they don't engage early. (4) DEVILISH GRIN and (7) RAGING BLOOM both have closing kicks that can make them the winner, but they don't always show up. If one does, they can take it. I want (9) NO TIDE in this spot. She drops in for a tag after two rough rides vs. better. She didn't handle the synthetic, so pay attention to the weather. If she stays on the grass, I'm all in.
