We are again off the turf today at Saratoga. We are looking to have some nice weather rolling in this weekend and should have an exciting end to the meet through Monday. We are going to stay consistent and key in on a pair of pick 3 plays. I will be focusing on races 5-7, and Big Pete will be focusing on races 8-10. We also will have our "Play of the Day." We do have some races that have scratched down a bit, but still an opportunity to make some money. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notification of new blog posts and a weekly email. GOOD LUCK.

R6: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

R7: 6, 8, 12

Cost: $45.00

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

R8: 4, 5, 6

R9: 1, 2, 5

R10: 1, 4, 6, 8

Cost: $36.00

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

I will take the stakes race with only four horses entered. Pletcher looks to have a loaded hand in here, but that doesn't always equate to W's. I really like the outside horse in (7) Simply Ravishing to be away from the field from the break and have the speed rider needed to find the lead. I think Saez has the horse underneath him to hit the early lead or sit off of it to have a convincing stretch drive. We should be able to get a better price on this horse and will hammer the WPS.

$5.00 WPS 7 Cost: $15.00

$4.00 Ex 7 w/ 5,6 Cost: $8.00

$2.00 Ex 5,6 w/ 7 Cost: $4.00

Race 4:

A lot of focus on I’ll Take The Cake here but a red flag is lifted on the major drop. Looks like damaged goods. I’ll lean heavy on (1) COVER PHOTO, fresh off the Rice claim, to show up again and run them all down. Two wins on sloppy tracks makes this filly the one to beat. We’ll juice up the exacta trying to get Fair Lassie to close with Photo and grab the place.

$10.00 Ex 1 w/ 4,6 Cost: $20.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

We are moving this race to the dirt and it is being run at 7 furlongs. I landed on three horses in this one that I think will be forwardly placed and that is where you would like to be on this sloppy track. (1) Mendham is a firster from the Pletcher barn that sticks around for this one. This horse has consistently been training and we saw a bullet workout leading in to this one. I expect Saez to do what he does and shoot from the gate to avoid the slop in the face around the turn. (9) Big Time Lady is another horse in here that I expect to be forwardly placed with Irad aboard again. He has a daughter of Big Brown underneath him and we should expect an improved effort this time out. (12) Sweeter is my last play here with that bullet workout leading in. There is a distinct advantage to having an outside post in the slop and I am overlooking Edward Barker's record at the Spa and only focusing on this individual race.

$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 1,9,12 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

I see a broken race in this one which is the reason I am taking almost the entire field. (3) Spin a Yarn is going to seek the lead early and try and wire the field; there is no doubt in my mind about that. I will include this horse on my ticket, but I think that she will have company from (2) Nicky Scissors early and will not allow this horse to run free on the lead. For that reason, I am including four horses that I think could be charging late down the stretch to take this one. (7) Officer Hutchy is the logical play here with recent form looking good, but this horse also needs to be forwardly placed to run on and it is going to be a fast pace. (4) Big Q is another horse that has shown closing ability in previous races and I think will have a chance at this one. (6) The Important One is a very dangerous horse in this one and I will take this horse as my top play. I think this race will set up well for her running style and will have a say as to who wins this one. My last play is going to be a long shot who is coming in after a win at a tag. (5) Mani Pedi is ascending right now and this horse needs to step up to win this one and I think has the kind of race needed to take this one.

$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00

$1.00 Ex 5,6,7 w/ 3,4,5,6,7 Cost: $12.00

Race 7:

This race is also moved to the dirt and being run at 7 furlongs. I know I said that I like Pletcher a little more when it rains, but this specific race I am going to try and beat (1A) Team Win. (12) WeDontBelieveHer is going to be my top play in here. This horse is going to be forwardly placed and will handle the sloppy track well. (8) Stefanie On Fleek is a tough play here for me, but at this level I am going to take her. She doesn't scream that she will handle this surface change and the slop well, but the significant class drop in to this one may be all she needs to handle the field. My last play is going to be (6) Lem Me Have It who will be able to handle the slop and be able to have a convincing stretch drive to challenge for this one.

$3.00 WPS 12 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 6,8,12 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

With moisture still in the track, I’ll give the nod to (4) SLIMEY to come and get them late. She looks to be back in form finishing right behind (6) FAIR REGIS in their last. Both will get the speed necessary to make their late runs. Irad returns for Regis and has won on her before. (5) KEPT TRUE returns to her best 6F distance and will try to get first jmp on the two above. She is one of the speeds that has the stamina to keep going.

$7.00 WPS 4 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 4,6 w/ 4,6,7 Cost: $12.00

Race 9:

(5) FOXTAIL is your MTO entrant and unfortunately is your likely winner at short odds. She won here a month ago in another off the turf event, but followed that with a poor performance. With only two other runners left, we might as well use them all incase Foxtail stubs her toe.

$10.00 Daily Double 5 w/ 4,8 Cost: $20.00

Race 10:

We’ll lean heavy on a filly that has had the most starts and another that has only run on dirt. (8) HALO CITY has run well in all three of her sprint races. Her best came with a little moisture in the track at this 7F distance. We’re looking for a Re-Pete of that today. She ships in from Belmont again so Duggan must think she’s ready to go and can’t wait for Big Sandy to open. (4) HARLEM HEIGHTS has burnt a lot of money in her last two attempts as the favorite. If we get a better price this time around, she may be the one to focus on. (6) MY SWEET WIFE shouldn’t mind the dirt with the Candy Ride influence. Plus, if I don’t mention this one and my wife reads this, she’ll ask why I didn’t pick her.

$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 4,8 w/ 1,4,6,8 Cost: $18.00
