What can be said about Tiz the Law that hasn't already been said? He flexed his muscles in the Runhappy Travers yesterday and has to be the 1/5 favorite in the Kentucky Derby. John Imbriale's call was fantastic and was one of those calls you wish you could've been there to hear it; goosebump stuff. But, now we are not going to overlook this great day of racing to make some money and focus on our pair of pick 3 plays. I will be focusing in on races 5-7, while Big Pete will focus in on races 8-10. We also will have our "Play of the Day" for one of the races on today's card. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notification of new blog posts and a weekly email containing a blog. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 7:
Had to change up my "Play of the Day" with the scratch in the third and only making it a four horse field. I am going to make my play the 7th where I covered it below. I think Rosario has all he needs to handle this field and feel very comfortable giving him the honor here; (5) Mo Me Mo My
$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00
$3.00 Ex 5 w/ 4,6,9 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 4,6,9 w/ 4,5,6,9 Cost: $9.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
MSW on the grass is where I’ll try to cash in. The 3, 5 & 6 have some experience already but I’ll try to beat them with the “other” Mott filly (2) MS BOOMBASTIC. Junior rode the favorite BASTET last time, but now opts for this firster instead. She’s a Mr Speaker out of an Arch Mare. The turf at this distance should hit her right between the eyes. The bullet move on Aug 2nd means she cranked and ready to go. Get’s L1 for her debut.
$7.00 WPS 2 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex Box 2,3,6 Cost: $18.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
(5) Windfall Profit is a big player in here for me. The horse ran a good enough race for me last time out at a mile distance and I think the move to Rosario will be a winning one. This horse will not have as fast of fractions early and will be able to sit behind the speed and have a convincing stretch drive. I also would like to include the Travers winning connections in the (3) L'indiscret with Manny Franco and Barclay Tagg. This horse has shown the closing ability I think is very important on grass and the stretch out should let this horse run the leaders down. I think that Bill Mott is entering (2) Ms Boombastic in here to search for the early lead and you should always want your horses forwardly placed early, so will get a play for me here. (4) Lady Rosalie is kind of a wild card here for me with having 9 races under her belt without a win and has not trained since 7/2. This horse will be forwardly placed as well, and the rest could be what this horse needed? My last play will be the other Bill Mott entered with Johnny V aboard; (6) Bastet. A key race coming in to this race should have this horse live and have a shot to graduate.
$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 3,5 w/ 2,3,4,5,6 Cost: $8.00
Race 6:
We have a nice filly allowance which should be very exciting. There is plenty of speed entered in here, so not too concerned of slow fractions. (9) Pop a Choc had a breakout performance when she switched surfaces and ran a 94 beyer speed in a wire to wire effort. Workouts show this horse remaining in good form and will be a play for me. (8) Palio Flag ran a gutty race on a good track in Keeneland, where she showed grit and held on to break her maiden first time out. This horse has also been training well and consistently, and should even improve in this one. (6) Primacy has hit the board in all three of her career starts, and this should be no different. Irad will be able to stalk the early pace and save ground throughout; which should allow this horse to run a big stretch drive. (2) Timely Tradition has been nothing but a winner since being claimed to the Raymond Handal barn four back, and attracts Rosario in this step up in class. I like riding with winners and this horse looking to make it her fourth in a row means she earned a spot on the ticket. My last play will not be the other Chad Brown horse, it will be the inside horse in (1) Escape Fund. I think that this horse is eager to run today with her impressive maiden breaker first time out and immediately went on to show some promising work outs. I think this horse will not be 10-1 come post time and could have the best trip from the inside post.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 1,2,9 w/ 1,2,6,8,9 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
I am going to close my ticket with the best two horses I see in this race. I think this is Rosario's race to lose aboard the (5) Mo Me Mo My. I didn't want to end the ticket on a single, so I also will be including (4) Aunt Nadine who found her footing on the grass last time out, and second time out should only mean another step up. I think the others in here will not be able to handle a fast pace in this sprint and the two mentioned here will be able to sustain a big run.
$10.00 WIN 5 Cost: $10.00
$2.00 Ex 4,5 w/ 2,3,4,5,9,10 Cost: $20.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
Clement has two entered and both look solid. (8) CITYMANstarted out on the dirt but his best two races have come on the grass. He just missed catching FieldPass last time and keeps improving. Rosario gets a little more distance to time it right. He’ll likely have to hold off his stable mate (3) SHAMROCKET who’s better suited to get the 9F. He seems to get along with Jr as they have put together back to back solid finishes. I’ll use both on top. (6) FOREVER POE switches to the Brown barn. He’s listed at 8:1 ML so watch the board as post time approaches. If he gets bet follow the money. If not, I’ll give him one race to work out the kinks. (5) MR JAGGER wired maidens last time and is bred to run all day. If left alone up front, he might be able to handle the class jump. Worth using underneath as a price.
$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3,8 w/ 3,5,6,8 Cost: $18.00
Race 9:
I’ll focus on two in this Alydar Stakes to get me through to the finale. (1) ENDORSED faced two division leaders in his last two and didn’t disappoint. Hear comes the But.. He hasn’t run his best in two turn events. I’ll use defensively and try to beat him. I think the race set up nicely for (3) SPINOFF. I don’t think he is a fan of Big Sandy but the Spa has treated him nicely. Blowout win last year here at this 9F distance and just missed earlier this year when able to stretch out. Look for Irad to stay close to the pace and wait for them to back up. (4) ITS ALL RELEVANT is in a zone right now. Davis will just go right from the start and say catch me if you can. He moves up in class but continues to improve at 7 years old.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3,4 w/ 1,3,4 Cost: $12.00
Race 10:
NY Bred MCL’s close out the card and week. (8) BRUNATE has figured it out this summer as he has made steady progress in his last three. Gaff tried to close from the parking lot last time so he should learn from that and look to save ground this time around. The rail may hurt (1) IMPERIO D here as he’ll be forced to go. If he’s able to leave cleanly and rate, Manny can put them to sleep and wire the field. (4) BANK GALA will be following Brunates move. It likely comes down to who gets the better trip. (9) PIER FORTY was off for a year when he tried the turf again. Now moves to dirt and cuts back. I think Asmussen is looking to unload as he calls on stable rider to give him one last try.
