Thursday racing at Saratoga and we have our turf racing back! We are going to remain consistent in our plays and attack a pair of pick 3 plays as well as our "Play of the Day." With it being a 9 race card I will be keying in on races 4-6, and Big Pete will be keying in on races 7-9. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notification of new blog posts and a weekly email containing a blog. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R4: 2, 7, 11, 12

R5: 3, 4, 6, 7

R6: 2, 4, 7

Cost: $48.00

Big Pete's $5.00 Late Pick 3:

R7: 6

R8: 1, 3

R9: 5, 6

Cost: $20.00

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 1:

We have a bunch of heavy favorites in almost each of these races and not trying to beat them just goes against my core values. I am going to try and beat the favorites in race 1 with (5) Warfront Fighter, who is exiting a race being chased down by Fed Funds who came next time out and won against allowance company. I am going to go out and say that this horse not hitting the board in his four career starts is unlucky rather than inability. I think that this horse has a field where he can run a big race and have a chance to graduate.

$5.00 WPS 5 Cost: $15.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 2:

The card looks very chalky again so I’ll use my best bet trying to get a price underneath (2) KEOTA. She will be a very short price against this group and I’ll concede to her. I’m looking for the Handel Mare (7) OVERHEATED to come late to grab the 2nd slot. She returns to the turf and cuts back to a sprint. She’ll likely sit back and come with a late charge but the fav will be too much for her.

$ 20.00 Straight Exacta (2) KEOTA over (7) OVERHEATED

No Box necessary

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 4:

(2) Catch a Cab is going to be a tough horse to beat in this one, and I anticipate this horse getting a perfect closing trip by Irad. I am anticipating (6) Pipes and (10) Big Mountain to engage in an early battle up front to set the time fractions; which exposes them to horses with a late kick. (7) Mission Command came up a bit short last time out against (2) Catch a Cab, but I think the move to Gaffalione could make a big difference. This horse needs to be placed in front of (2) Catch a Cab early to give this horse a chance and I think Tyler will do that. (11) Good Old Boy is from the Michael Maker barn as well and has Jose aboard. This horse has shown late closing ability against weaker fields and horses that are making small jumps in competition have been performing well at Saratoga. (12) NutzforBoltz gets the nod to run in this one and has shown the late closing ability in previous races that I am looking for in here. David Cohen has found his footing a bit and should give this horse a great chance of winning this one.

$2.00 Ex Box 2,7,11,12 Cost: $24.00

Race 5:

Jorge Abreu has been hitting on all cylinders lately and attracts Rosario to run on this firster. Abreu is currently winning 22% of the races with first time starters and the workouts make it seem like that stat could go up. (6) Guardian Moon is the horse's name and will be a play for me. (7) Lollygag went off as a long shot in her only start and had a great showing at Keeneland. Experience does matter, especially in these maiden special weight races, so will include. (3) ShesADirtyDancer should have her speed translate to grass and I think this horse will be sent to the front, and it will be a tough ask for inexperienced horses to pass; so will get a play for me. (4) Herald Angel has been consistently training and has the connections to win this one, so will also get a play on my ticket.

$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00

$1.00 Ex 3,4,6,7 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

I landed on three horses to close out the ticket here and get this cashed. The two logical horses are (2) Gesture and (4) Wicked Title; who I think are must plays here. Both of these horses have run faster races then the field and will be able to handle a quicker pace than most in this field. That being said, I do like one other horse that should go off as a price here. (7) HeartStrings has been running consistently well to me and I think this claiming field is in this horse's wheelhouse to beat. I am hoping Reylu places this horse right in to a stalking position from the break and this horse should have enough left in the tank to make this interesting.

$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 2,4,7 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 7:

Unfortunately, the late Pk3 looks a little chalky. Sometimes you need to take the layup when the others don’t look that good. Brown sends out (6) ELIADE who will most likely go off the favorite. 7:2 ML would be a gift. The 9F last time was too short coming off the layoff but now gets to go longer which is what she wants to do. She’s going to be tough to beat. The only other filly I’ll include is (3) DYNA PASSER. She just missed last year on this turf course and should be the main danger to Eliade. (5) PALLAS ATHENE can add value to the exacta as she’ll try to get first run on Tass and then try to hold off the top two.

$10.00 Ex 6 w/ 3,5 Cost: $20.00

Race 8:

A short field for the NYS Stallion Stakes. (1) FRESCO returns off her solid win two weeks ago here and meets a similiar bunch today. I can’t knock Clement and the return of Irad in the saddle. This gal will be odds on to get it done and I can’t argue that. The interesting filly to me is (3) ZIPALONG. I’m not sure she’s good enough to beat this bunch but, she did some running last time facing open company in a decent time. She is clearly the value and I’ll use her underneath the top pick.

$10.00 Ex 1 w/ 3,6 Cost: $20.00

Race 9:

This NW2L turf event features many that will struggle to get their 2nd win in their career let alone today. The gorilla in the room is (5) ELUSIVE RULER. Drops in for a tag and attracts Saez. His last three turf races will be plenty to beat these and figures to control the race throughout. The only other one I see with a chance is the Courageous Cat gelding (6) CATORAT. He returned last month to put in a solid performance after being off a year. His last win came here last year and should be the threat late. I’ll only use these two to close it out.

$5.00 Ex 5,6 w/ 5,6,8 Cost: $20.00
