We have ourselves an eleven race card today at Saratoga; which is headlined by the Grade 1 Alabama in the ninth race. We are dishing out our picks a bit earlier today, as we both have a travel day. We will continue to monitor for scratches and any other changes throughout the day, and will update as needed. We are going to continue focusing in on nailing a pair of pick 3 plays. We will also have our "Play of the Day" to give out or best plays that we will be looking to cash in on. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive new blog post notifications and a weekly blog email. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 8:
I am going to put my money where my mouth is and beat (2) Decorated Invader in this one with (4) Domestic Spending. This is only (4) Decorated Invader's fourth time out and I am expecting a much better trip this time out. Irad is going to be aggressive and place this horse forwardly and will get this done.
$5.00 WPS 4 Cost: $15.00
$3.00 Ex 4 w/ 2,5,6,7 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 7:
I can’t ignore the jock switch to Irad on (8) JIMMY JAZZ, Meets a similar bunch that he just missed against and now shortens up to the 1M. Irad adds several lengths so this group will find it difficult to catch Jimmy today.
$10.00 WPS 8 Cost: $30.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 6:
I made the decision to spread across this field, because this could be the one where we find our price. (1) Engrave has the Brown/Jose Ortiz connection coming in to this one with a bullet workout. Could have a horse in here that we should pay attention to going forward. (3) Officiating has two bullet workouts leading in and coming in from a red hot day yesterday, Alvarado is riding freely. (4) Swill ran a big race first time out at Keeneland at 6 furlongs and should only improve second time out. (6) Calibrate has two bullet workouts at 5 furlongs and could be ready first time out. Both Asmussen and Santana Jr. know what to do with a horse that shows speed. (9) UnitedandSolute had a big effort on grass last time out putting up an 87 beyer speed figure and should translate well to the dirt with his pedigree; will include. My last play is going to be (10) Restored Order who was bet down to the favorite first time out in Gulfstream and didn't race to the money, but extended time in a live barn like Pletcher could equate to a significantly improved effort second time out.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 1,4,10 w/ 1,3,4,6,9,10 Cost: $15.00
Race 7:
I am expecting a big showing today from (6) Mo Ready in this one. He was stymied last time out and I do not believe that Jose will allow that to happen again. This horse is going to be instructed to shoot right out of the gate in this mile distance race on turf; expecting big, big things. (7) Simply is exiting the same race as (6) Mo Ready in which he was also compromised down the stretch. This horse showed plenty of ability in his first two starts and anticipating this horse to get back to those two efforts. My last play is only being included because of Big Pete; (8) Jimmy Jazz. I think the jockey change will improve the trip for this horse and will be looking to close down the stretch in a race filled with speed. I guess it is a pretty good idea to use this horse.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 6,7,8 Cost: $12.00
Race 8:
(2) Decorated Invader is a must play on all tickets in my opinion, so will obviously be doing that. That being said, I am going to try and beat with (4) Domestic Spending who will have a better effort this time out against (2) Decorated Invador. (4) Domestic Spending fell 11 furlongs behind from the break and was playing catch up to the speed and showed great ability. Irad will be more aggressive from the gate to give this horse a chance and will get it done. I will also include the other Clement horse in (5) Gufo who has won his last three races in a row at a longer distance. I think that Johnnie V will have the horse with the most energy late and that is dangerous in turf routes.
$5.00 WPS 4 Cost: $15.00
$2.00 Ex Box 2,4,5 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 9:
All eyes will be on (5 ) SWISS SKYDIVER as she now moves back to face fillies after going toe to toe with the big boys in the Blue Grass. I’ll use but, I’m not yet sold that she can get the demanding 10F Alabama. That last furlong will be some anxious moments for most. (3) CRYSTAL BALL won’t have that problem, She’s bred to run all day If Castellano can nurse her along up front, Malibu Moon will carry her the rest of the way, The other long winded filly is (2) SPICE IS NICE. This Curlin figured out this game last time posting a big number. We’re looking for a Re-Pete of that to make her a threat to the favorite.
$7.00 WPS 2 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 2,3 w/ 2,3,5 Cost: $12.00
Race 10:
(1) MAXWELL ESQUIRE has two wins and a 2nd when facing NY Bred competition. This Discreet Cat seems better sprinting than going long so the jump to NW2X won’t be that much of a deal for this guy. It’s Clement and Rosario so the price won’t be great but these two are the talk of the meet and a must use. (8) ROYAL ASSET just missed at this level last time to Bustin Stones as he hung a little bit in the stretch. All business today as Gaff jumps aboard. (4) CALL ME HARRY is the one I want, He’s been off a little but this guy is 2 for 2 here at the SPA, both at this distance. He faced better before taking a vacation and now gets L1 and Johnny V. All systems go..
$7.00 WPS 4 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 1,4 w/ 1,4,8,9 Cost: $18.00
Race 11:
I’ll use five in here to try and close this one out. I like (3) BRICKYARD at a price today. Faced fellow NY Breds last time and got bumped around before closing. The switch to Santana is huge and this guy looks all dressed up for the party today. (4) BRICCO looks like a solid favorite as he cuts back and retains Saez. He’s run better times than these and Bond is having a meet. Short price but a must use. (6) MICHAEL’S BAD DAY woke up when he dropped to this level and I would expect the same run today. Both (12) SIDD FINCH and (9) HIGH TONE will also make it on the ticket as both have shown some ability and their connections are playable.
