Saratoga summers are my favorite. We have ourselves a ten race card, which is headlined by the Grade 2 Adirondack in the ninth. If you ever find yourself at the Adirondack Brewery in Lake George, make sure to order the cheese curds; you're welcome. We are going to continue with our pick 3 plays, as well as our "Play of the Day." I will be focusing in on races 5-7, while Big Pete will be focusing in on races 8-10. I have decided that Wednesday's going forward are going to be the economy friendly plays; which means that my ticket will not be above at least $25. I cannot speak for Big Pete as he is a mad man. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notification of new blog posts as well as a weekly blog email. GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

Cost: $45.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
Addicted to speed and (4) Daring Disguise has plenty of it. Luis Saez is the perfect rider for this horse and will place him up front in this 5 1/2 furlong sprint and challenge these horses to catch him. I think this horse gets a great trip and be able to hold off any late foes to take this one.
$5.00 WPS 4 Cost: $15.00
$2.00 Ex 4 w/ 2,3,6,7 Cost: $8.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 4:
(7) RADIANTRITHYM is expected to go off the heavy favorite. Rice claimed this gal last month and now drops for an easy paycheck. It’s a little suspicious but everyone wants a Spa win. I’ll put her on top and look for two prices to pass the speeds late. (4) DIRTY BIRD dropped to this level last time and closed nice to get the show. She’ll get some more pace to set her up this time and should be able to hit the board again. (5) WHYISSHESOOLUCKY was a head back of Dirty Bird so she too can sneak into the exacta.
$10.00 Ex 7 w/ 4,5 Cost: $20.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
I am going to try and beat Chad Brown in this one. I really like (6) Union Colonel in this one from the Mark Casse barn. This horse has two bullet workouts leading in and will be able to find the early lead in this one, and I think this horse will love the stretch out. He will be able to control the fractions throughout and force someone behind him to catch him. I also am going to include a horse that is 0-11 in his career, but I think Saez will have (4) Scanno in a nice stalking position and I think will have the most speed late; which makes this horse a player. I am going to go out on a limb and leave it with these two horses to get it done.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 4,6 w/ 1,4,6,7 Cost: $12.00
Race 6:
A big scratch in this one with the (7) Eloquent Speaker who I was going to mess around and single. Now I am looking at taking half of this six horse field. (2) Saratoga Beauty is the sleeper in here coming off a long layoff and being dropped in to a claiming field. I love the workouts leading in and think this horse will like the competition level in this one. (5) Bustin Scones should get the speed early that she needs to close in to with (3) Single Verse taking the early lead; I am expecting a much better performance from last time out. (6) Kinky Sox is taking a small class jump here after four straight races coming in first or second at this distance. This horse is ascending and needs to be on my ticket.
$2.00 Ex Box 2,5,6 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
(4) Mundacious found his footing on grass last time out and should improve on the second trip out. I think having Saez aboard is always a positive and will get a great trip. (10) Volerio is a horse that has been more unlucky than not good at winning the races entered. I think that Manny will carry the previous weekend momentum and ride well this week, so an easy play here for me. (11) Microsecond is the class of this field and if he runs to that in this one, then will be a very tough beat. I do not particularly like horses switching surfaces after a couple of non-winning trips on the other, but the connections are dangerous and do not want to leave off last leg of ticket. (12) Sandro the Great will be the favorite come post time and we should anticipate people throwing money at this horse for the Rosario/Clement team up. This horse possesses the late and tactical speed that Rosario excels with.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 4,11 w/ 4,10,11,12 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 10,12 w/ 4,10,11,12 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
Pletcher has two in here and both with a shot. They have been a little ambitious with (7) CANDY TYCOON as he faced G1,2 & 3 runners so far this year. When entered where he belongs, he has a win and place finish. Look for him to bounce back against these NW1X today. (5) UNRIGHTEOUS re-unites with Saez and will try to control this from the start. He is the fastest of this group so a clean break may be all he needs. Abreu is having a career meet so (3) LIVEYOURBEASTLIFE needs to be included. Distance may be an issue for him but there’s no reason he can’t get second.
$7.00 WPS 7 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 5,7 w/ 3,5,7 Cost: $12.00
Race 9:
Casse is having a tough meet so we’ll try to beat the ML favorite. Asmussen has the other favorite in (4) THOUGHTFULLY. This Tapit won first time out impressively and seems to like the Spa dirt with a quick breeze last week. Was bet to win easy last time and he did just that. She will be hard to leave off any ticket. (5) LUCIFERS LAIR has a win on this track and it’s Pletcher and Irad. What’s not to like. High Cotton was extremely fast so that bodes well for (3) LILAC LACE. She won her debut on grass but is bred to handle dirt. She will be coming late.
$7.00 WPS 4 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 4,5 w/ 3,4,5 Cost: $12.00
Race 10:
We’ll spread out here to close this late Pk3. The one I’m interested in the most is (8) GRINGOTTS. She was left with a lot to do last time after the bobbled break but look for to rebound as she tries the same level to get it done. (10) LOVE ME TOMORROW beat Gringotts twice now so she’s going for the hat trick. The 10 hole may be her worse enemy here as she’ll need to save ground somewhere. (6) DEEPLY ANALYTICAL drops and switches to dirt. Not a sign of confidence as the connections may be looking to unload. (7) AGGRAVATION dropped to this level last time after a year off. He tries it again with Lezcano taking the controls.
