We have a stacked Friday card at the Spa today with some pretty crowded fields. We are headlined today by the Coronation Cup in the 9th; which Big Pete will be handling. We are going to remain consistent and play our two pick 3 plays for races 5-10. I will be covering races 5-7, and Big Pete will cover races 8-10. We also will have our "Play of the Day" to try and give the reader what we think is a favorable play to invest in. Make sure to subscribe to our newsletter to receive new blog post notifications and a weekly blog sent directly to your email. GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
I am going to go out and get a quick WPS hit on the first race to get the money coming in early. (2) Stylish Rags is bred to win first time out on a dirt sprint. I think that the horse will break sharply and find the lead and not look back. I like that there will be others in here that will be bet, but feel confident the horse will run to the Union Rags pedigree.
$5.00 WPS 2 Cost: $15.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 6:
Let’s hope Little Pete likes (3) ZEALOUS as much as I do so he includes in his Pk3 sequence. This gelding returns to the Spa where he posted his best race of his career. He’s been working here all summer and seems ready after posting a bullet work earlier this month. Bond is hitting the board often this meet and brings Saez back. He drops slightly to this 35K claiming event and the 7F is clearly his best distance.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3 w/ 1, 2, 5 Cost: $9.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
We have a nice little 12 horse field here in this filly maiden race, which could go to a couple of horses in here. My top selection in here is going to be on the outside in (12) ImInComunicado who is getting a surface switch back to her best showing and a much needed class relief. I think Lezcano will be able to coax this horse in to a stalking position and be able to close well late. I also like (2) Sandra's Mine who should get an aggressive ride from Jose Ortiz in here, because the front is where you want to be right from the gate. I think this horse has run in to some more competitive fields and be able to handle any late closers here. (5) Love Me Tomorrow also possesses the early speed you like in these sprints. I think this horse will up there throughout and may just keep on running to graduate. My last play is going to be the winning connections of Rosario/Clement on the firster (4) Silent Empress. This horse has been training extremely well and could have the perfect trip to take out this claiming field.
$3.00 WPS 12 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex Box 2,4,5,12 Cost: $12.00
Race 6:
I think that (2) Cobble Hill is dangerous here in this position. This horse has been nothing but consistent at this level and the stretch out should only benefit this horse's running style. I think that there is enough speed around him to have a strong late charge. (3) Zealous is the horse Big Pete won't shut up about, and I guess I like him in this spot with the class drop and getting back to Saez at this distance. If I am being honest with myself, I find Luis Saez to be one of my favorite jockeys in the circuit and always pay attention to his mounts. (1) Empire Line has the inside position and the speed to get to the early lead and save ground around the one turn. I think this horse will be able to handle horses early and could have enough in the pedigree to run this one wire to wire.
$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 1,2,3 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
Landed on four horses to close out the ticket. I think that (8) Me and Mr. C is going to be seeking the early lead and be met by a couple of prices to make this horse vulnerable. I really like the two Mike Maker horses, (4) Blanket of Roses and (10) Dynadrive, to be sitting aggressively behind the early leaders and have a go at the lead down the stretch. (3) Bad Beat Brian will also be another horse who will be stalking that lead and will be ready to roll when Saez asks him to go. My last play is going to be Gaffalione on the (6) Vintage Kitten who I think will get a perfect trip behind the early speed and be able to save ground throughout. I think this horse has a good chance of passing a bunch of tiring horses.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 3,4,6,10 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
We’ll start with the favorite (9) JEWEL OF ARABIA. She’s coming off her maiden score in the slop and now tries NWX1 State breds. Not a major class jump but needs to improve to win. Rosario returns but Franco jumps off for (8) FLASHPACKINBARBIE who has taken money in all three of her starts. She’s likely to sit off the speeds and tip out for the stretch drive. She looks dangerous here. I can’t ignore the jock change on
(7) WAILIN JOSIE. Not because it’s Cohen, but it’s NOT Harkie. She seems to close but always comes up short. Maybe Cohen can move her up a few lengths as there are not any standouts in here as she may have found the right field to finally get there. A lot of cheap speed entered to set her up.
$7.00 WPS 7 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 7,8 w/ 4,7,8,9 Cost: $18.00
Race 9:
Ward send out (8) ARTIE’S PRINCESS. With multiple speeds entered, the pace will be hot. Irad will try to time it right as she tries the real grass for the first time. Casse also ships in (3) FLY SO PRETTY. She tried an off the turf event for her 2020 debut but, wanted no part of the dirt. Moves back to grass and attracts Johnny V. She’ll enjoy the speeds beating up on each other and we’ll watch her Fly so Pretty through the stretch. We’ll side with (4) MISS J MCKAY as Jose returns seeking revenge instead of the Motion runner Bredenbury as Graham has not been close at this meet. Speaking of jock switches, Clement sends out (9) SHE’S MY TYPE who closed fast to get 2nd last time. Look for Rosario to keep her closer this time and offer a challenge late.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3,8 w/ 3,4,8,9 Cost: $18.00
Race 10:
(3) LIDO KEY has been facing slightly better in her last two and stretches out to her best distance. She’ll hang out mid pack and make her run late. There are many in here exiting the same race won by Bean Counter and all four have a shot. (11) COREY SCORES draws in. He’ll be coming late as well but most likely has to pass them all. The two turns vs one turn last time should make her closing kick seem better as the speeds may come back to her. (1) HURRICANE BREEZE won’t mind the extra distance as Maker is off to a good start. Jose can save some ground and then let Summer Front carry her to the wire. I’ll use a price to juice up the Pk3 payout. (10) STERLING BEAUTY is familiar with the Spa oval. She makes her 2020 grass debut and wasn’t far from Myhartbelongstodaddy two back as that one returned to win.
