We will be looking to carry in some momentum in to the Thursday card at Saratoga after yesterday's hit. Today's card looks to be a bit more crowded than yesterday's; which could mean some nice payouts. I will be focusing in on races 5-7, and Big Pete will be focusing in on races 8-10. We will also have our "Play of the Day," to provide a bet that we will be playing anywhere on the card; again Big Pete didn't get the memo, so it will only be my "Play of the Day." Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notifications of new blog posts and a weekly blog sent to your email. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

R5: 1, 5, 8

R6: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11

R7: 2, 8

Cost: $54.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

R8: 1, 2, 3

R9: 1, 4, 5, 6

R10: 3, 4, 8, 14

Cost: $48.00

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 1:

I do not typically like betting horses first time they switch surfaces, but making an exception for (6) Tonal Vision. I think this horse is just running in to a competitive field that she is just better than. The daughter of Tonalist should take well to the grass, and I think will be placed near the front right from the gate. I think the late charge from this horse will be a convincing one and like this horse on top. Plus, the early signs on the board seems to be favoring the Ortiz brothers; which would only make this horse a much better play at some odds.

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

I really like (5) Rinaldi in this one to find the early lead and not look back. I think that this horse has the ability to either wire the field or sit in a stalking position behind the leaders and have the late kick needed to take this field down. (8) Graded on a Curve finally beat some winners last time out and getting dropped in to a claiming tag. I think this horse is a big late threat and will have a try at the horses down the stretch; so will include on ticket. To close my ticket I am going to go with the horse with the longest layoff in the (1) Evaluator. This horse has been training well and consistently, and I think the Gaffalione move could payoff. I think this horse will excel on the grass in this one and the inside post is the place to be in these types of races.

$5.00 WIN/PLACE 5 Cost: $10.00

$2.00 Ex Box 1,5,8 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

If I were forced to pick my favorite in here it would be the (10) Malibu Anthem. I like horses coming north to run from Kentucky and the move to grass should only benefit this horse. With that being said, I do not have a strong enough opinion in this one to not include way too many horses. I will be including the field, minus the (2) Shine Like Bobby; who is out horsed in this one and I do not think has a chance. Sorry about this, I hope you can forgive me.

$4.00 WPS 10 Cost: $12.00

Race 7:

I landed on two horses to close out the ticket and I feel pretty good about it. There are some early pressers in this race in the (5) My Man Flintstone and (6) Polar Bear Pete; but I think they both will fizzle out down the stretch. As difficult it is to leave a PETE horse off the ticket, I just think this horse won't get it done. Will I be surprised? Never, Pete's are strong and resilient. With that early speed, I like (8) Mister Bobby to be sitting right off and inch out in the stretch to try and hit the wire first. I think that he will have an unlikely follower with (2) Starship Bubba. This horse will be the strongest horse late and I do not see anyone in this field being too dominant early to take this horse out of the race.

$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 2,8 w/ 2,3,5,6,8 Cost: $16.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

There’s not a lot of speed signed on in this two turn grass event. (3) SHORT POUR has enough speed for Saez to get to the front and put this group to sleep. Returned last month to just miss last time but guessing she needed one and is poised to make some noise today. (2) BLUE ATLAS also made a nice return off a 9 month hiatus. Jose returns as well so look for this English Channel to improve going longer. I’m interested in a price, so I’m all in with (1) PECATONICA on top. Saratoga seems to bring the best out of her as she’s two for two on the Spa grass but climbs up the ladder slightly. Bush calls on Rosario to work out a trip and come late to run down the top two.

$7.00 WPS 1 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,2,3 Cost: $12.00

Race 9:

(6) FUNNY GUY came off the shelf to run down Mr Buff last month and hasn’t missed a beat in AM. He’s beaten (5) BANK IT twice now and looking for the hat trick today. There’s not much speed in here so Bank It may be compromised from coming from far back. If you hear laughing through the stretch it may be Funny Guy getting the first jump. (4) AMUNDSON is the new face and the main speed. He’ll try to take them all the way today. There are a few things I don’t like about him. The 7F distance, the 0 for 2 record at the Spa and the short price. I’ll use defensively only. (1) PAT ON THE BACK, on his best day, would be a major contender. His work last week may be the answer.

$10.00 Ex 6 w/ 1,5 Cost: $20.00

$3.00 Ex 5 w/ 1,6 Cost: $6.00

Race 10:

(14) ADIOS AMIGOS draws in and will be the likely favorite. The outside post may come into play as Castellano will need to save ground somewhere. The dangerous speed will be (4) TEMPESTA. He just missed last time when faced his fellow NY Breds. That speed fig jumps off the page so he’s a major player here. I’m taking a shot with (8) BRICKYARD. He makes his 2020 debut after one run here last year at the Spa. That was against a quality sprinter Chimney Rock and it wasn’t as bad as it looked. He drilled two bullets this month and gets in light. Will be big odds with the most potential than these also rans. (3) BOOM BOOM KABOOM exits a key race that has produced a next out winner. Franco and Weaver will offer a bid late.

$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 4,8 w/ 3,4,8,14 Cost: $18.00
