We are headed in to Sunday going 5 for 6 yesterday and cashing the late PK3 ticket. We are going to continue with a pair of pick 3 plays, but going to add a "Play of the Day" to give out our plays we have a stronger opinion on. It can be from any race on today's card at Saratoga with the intention to give a quick pay to the players. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive a notification for all new blog posts and a weekly email of a blog. GOOD LUCK.

I have a strong opinion in the first race on the (6) More Like It. Sanctuary City beat (5) Silver Token, (6) More Like it, and (8) Smite last time out and ran a big allowance race yesterday at the Spa to place with a crowded field going a mile and a 1/16th. I think all three of those horses are live in this one, but the (6) More Like It has the closing ability I am looking for in this one. (3) Advanced Strategy has some grass pedigree and should run well in this one, but still think the more live and experienced horse will take this horse down. We have plenty of horses in this one that will get some money thrown at them, so should get some favorable odds.

We will take a shot in this NW2L 40k ( Non Winners of 2 Lifetime claiming race ) There’s a good chance most of these won’t ever get that 2nd win. Each have had many chances but unfortunately for them, they’re just not good enough. Eventually, each one may find the right field but, most of the time it doesn’t happen. Horseracing is a cut throat business where winning is everything. I like the lightly raced (4) MAKE A STAND at a juicy price. Even though he’s entered at the same claiming price as last time, that was against runners with more than 1 win. This is a slight drop in class for him which should make all the difference. He came off a brief vacation to close well to be 3rd. This Union Rags won’t mind the extra distance and Trainer Trombetta is off to a great start.

$6.00 WPS (4) Make a Stand Cost: $18.00

I do not trust any of these horses in here as they all could be poised to run a big race; which is the reason I am spreading five deep in here. (10) River Tiber has the outside post in this one and the speed to sustain a big run in this sprinting race. I think this horse is a must play in this one on all tickets. (2) Outadore is the other Wesley Ward horse in here with the early scratches, and he always has some speed on grass with his two year olds. (1) Mad Munny is the daughter of American Pharoah and going to look to beat the boys. Has ran extremely well on dirt to date and the move to grass should only improve her effort. (7) Pitaman is kind of an unknown here for me with moving to grass after showing nothing in the muddy start first time out. I will give this horse another chance in here if the early speed opens up the race to some late runners. (6) Fulco is going to be my last play here. This horse has been consistently training well and looks like could win first time out with Jose Ortiz aboard.

$3.00 WPS 10 Cost: $9.00

$1.00 Ex 1,2,10 w/ 1,2,6,7,10 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

There were some big MTO scratches in this one and Chad Brown looks to be the likely winner with the two he has in here. I will start with the morning line favorite, (11) Cost Benefit, who won at this distance last time out against maidens and faces winners for the first time and will be a handful. (1) Jazzique is facing winners for the third time and has consistently ran well against them; this is my preferred Chad Brown horse in here. I also like (6) Witez in this one to get back to the mile distance, which looks to be this horse's preferred distance. I think this horse could be a Chad Brown upsetter and getting a play from me.

$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 1,6,11 Cost: $12.00

Race 7:

The three outside horses are going to get a play here from me. The two inside posts should be the early speed and this will set up the closers late. (7) American Mandate is going to be my top selection in this one. The combination of Santana, Jr./Asmussen took the Vanderbilt yesterday and will look to carry that momentum in to today. I think this horse will shoot to a stalking position in this sprint and possesses a nice late kick to run this field down. (8) Fast Getaway also has the speed needed to run this field down and the likely morning line favorite. I have to include on the ticket, but would like to try and beat. (9) Cryogenic looks to be in good form in this one and on the preferred surface and distance in here. This horse has been consistent and will look to find the wire first down the stretch.

$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 7,8,9 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

I could only eliminate the two bookends in this stacked ALW NW1X at 9F. I landed on (5) BEAU LUMNINARIE. The more distance the better for this I WANT REVENGE gelding. All three attempts around two turns produced winning moves. Now he re-unites with Saez who has some catching up to do as he missed a couple of weeks. Brown sends out (6) BASQUIAT who also won’t mind two turns. This Pharoah faced a couple of strong 3 yr olds last time but now tackles some decent older fellas. Brown’s other (3) HIGH AMPLITUDE keeps improving and should be able to run all day with his breeding. He’s your likely winner IMO. I’m a little against the fav (2) HAPPY SAVER. It’s not easy facing winners AND tackling two turns for the first time. The positive is that this is Irad’s first choice as he jumps off Basquiat.

$7.00 WPS 5 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 3,5 w/ 2,3,5,6 Cost: $18.00

Race 9:

It’s hard to eliminate anyone here as you got Mott, Brown, Maker & Pletcher. It looks like (1) SEISMIC WAVE has been pointing here all along. Used the 7F sprint as a public workout, then stretched out slightly and ran into the classy Social Paranoia. This Tapit should be fit and ready to make some noise and he gets Jose back. (2) GOOD GOVERNANCE is the real deal. This will be his toughest assignment to date as there are some heavy G2 material here. It’s Brown and Irad so a must use. (6) HALLADAY had everything his own way his last two outings but may feel the pressure today. Saez is very good up front so if he can get a breather somewhere, he may steal it again.

$10.00 Ex 1 w/ 2,6 Cost: $20.00

$3.00 Ex 2,6 w/ 1 Cost: $6.00

Race 10:

I’ll lean heavy towards the outside runners here. (11) PRINCE OF CAPS dropped and tried grass last time and it made the difference. Look for Manny to Re-Pete the same run to post the slight upset. (8) ECONIMIC POLICY drops for a tag but that’s not Brown’s strong point. He’s looking to unload. (12) LORD OF THE NILE is interesting. Made up some ground through the stretch last time and now gets a vet jock in Lezcano. L1 is also worth noting. This one looks live to me. The two favs (1) SEIZE THE DAY and (10) TURN OF EVENTS will make it on the ticket but, as you can see, we’re trying to beat them.

$7.00 WPS 12 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 11,12 w/ 1,8,11,12 Cost: $18.00
