We have live racing at Saratoga on this Thursday afternoon and we are looking to cover the card! I will be focused on the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 that starts the pick 6 sequence (Races 5-7). Big Pete will do a couple of his "Plays of the Days" and the late pick 3 (Races 8-10). We are looking to gain some momentum headed into the final weekend at the Spa and we are feeling confident. We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 2.00 Early Double:
R1: 1, 3, 7
R2: 4, 7, 9 Cost: $ 18.00
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R5: 1, 3, 5
R6: 1, 6, 8, 10
R7: 4, 5, 8, 9 Cost: $48.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R8: 4, 5, 6
R9: 2, 8
R10: 2, 3, 7 Cost: $ 18.00
Little Pete's $2.00 Early Double:
Race 1:
With the switch to dirt, the two MTO's figure to draw a lot of the attention. I'm not conceding just yet.
(1) Bee Bit has speed and picks up Rosario. The race is now farther, 9F, and this English Channel, out of an AP Indy mare, won't mind going longer. With only four in here, Rosario will likely take control early and challenge them to come and get him.
$3.00 Ex Box 1, 3 Cost: $ 6.00
Race 2:
(4) Munny Bolt is one of two MTO's in here. He showed speed in his turf debut as Asmussen may have used that race as a workout for the dirt. Stable rider returns and is the horse to beat. (9) Liza's Ready is training well coming into this one and we should expect Johnny V to be aggressive early and seek the lead. This sprint could be one won on the front and I trust a Ward/Velazquez combo. (7) Snow Candy didn't get away to cleanly in his debut. He never looked comfortable after that and just was along for the ride. We're expecting a better effort today as the surface switch shouldn't matter for this guy.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$3.00 Ex 4, 7 w/ 4, 7, 9 Cost: $12.00
$2.00 Ex 9 w/ 4, 10 Cost: $4.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
6) DANNY DEEP CUTS may offer decent odds on this watered down field. With Saez and Jose on the the 3 and 4, they figure to take some money. Benji may get forgotten on Danny who dominated state breds last time and faces winners today. She’s not facing much in here and the Re-Pete is on.
(1/1A) Entry (prefer 1A) Gagliano and (4) Red Pepper Grill to complete the exacta.
$ 10.00 Exacta 6 w/ 1, 4 Cost $ 20.00
We’ll also use (6) Danny Deep Cuts in R3 and try to crash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
We’ll use (4) Aloha West and (5) Three Technique in the 4th.
$ 7.00 Double 2 w/ 4, 5 Cost $ 14.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 4:
(5) THREE TECHNIQUE was a little over his head in the Vanderbilt last time. He looks well spotted today and Irad gets the call. Not sure it was Manny’s fault but Englehart makes the change. His race two back would beat this bunch and we’re guessing we see that today
$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 5 w/ 2, 3 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
The favorites are too much for me in here and will be including them all. Oddly Chad leaves in the Flintshire colt instead of the Acclamation colt on the switch to dirt. He gives Irad the keys on (1A) Deferred Taxes so It's not a stretch that this guy can improve on the dirt as well. (3) Mubtadaa has faced some pretty good horses in previous races and improves each time out. This horse is going to be my top pick in here and like that they are sticking with Manny. (5) Boldish just missed last time out and Rosario is now "Dialed In" to give this horse a better chance at hitting the wire first. The lone MTO may bring the price down but he's facing turf runners here.
$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 1,3,5 Cost: $12.00
Race 6:
(1) The Institute looks like the real deal and Horacio DePaz has had an extremely impressive meet and expect a big performance first time out. There isn't much experience in this one, so the horse that shows the most speed and has the best trip is the most likely winner; which is what this horse should be getting. (6) Ava's K Boy is a horse that will improve second time out and showed enough late to earn a play. This horse didn't have the best start and still worked out a nice trip. (8) Father Walsh is a firster I really like in here with IRad aboard. I figure this horse will be on the lead or sitting right behind it and Irad willing this horse home down the stretch. My last play will be the Saez/Cox combo who just won the Traver's. This horse looks great in the morning workouts and I think warranted some action in here with a forwardly placed race.
$3.00 WPS 8 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,8 w/ 1,6,8,10 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 6,10 w/ 1,6,8,10 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
(5) Motivated Seller is going to benefit with the surface switch in here and has the connection in her favor. She'll face some pressure early so Irad will need to catch a breather somewhere to last the whole way. (9) Time Limit comes into this one hot and has the leading jockey aboard. This horse is going to be stalking and pressing the lead and wait for the opportunity to strike; I trust in Saez. The one that will get overlooked in here is
(4) Kansas Kis. She has a closing kick that will make her dangerous late. There are three in here that want the lead so if they go at it early, she will be arriving to the party late.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 4, 9 w/ 4, 5, 8, 9 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 5, 8 w/ 4, 5, 8, 9 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
We go 9F in this 40k claimer and we have to start with the Pletcher/Johnny V runner (4) CANDY TYCOON. He’s been facing slightly better and gets a breather today. Only two races this year but I seems as though he’s in decent form. The only concern is the drop but the connections do this to get checks at Saratoga for their owners. (5) MUSICAL AMERICA will try to wire them again. He’s bred to go this far but hasn’t proved he can do it yet. With not a lot of speed signed on, Rosario might be able to get him to pull it off. I landed on the Amoss runner (6) GLORY ROAD.. He was claimed two back and closed well at 7F first time out for the new barn. The morning breezes have been swift and they now call on Irad. It feels as though we have a live horse on our hand and I’ll take the 10:1 ML that they are offering.
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 4, 6 w/ 1, 4, 5, 6 Cost $ 18.00
Race 9:
Moving to the dirt gives (2) MISS INTERPRET an advantage. She’s the only MTO entered and the Street Sense filly won’t mind any moisture left over. The only negative is that she hasn’t gone farther than 6F and now faces two turns. She’s bred to do it but first time is always an adventure. The only other that I’ll use is (8) LET'S BE CLEAR. She has two races on the dirt and stretches out. The Munnings can sprint or go long so with Cox at the controls, she could be a threat late in the game.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 5.00 Ex 2, 8 w/ 2, 7, 8 Cost $ 20.00
Race 10:
We'll spread out in the finale as MCL 40k runners go at it. I’ll single out (2) I GEN in my WPS bet as this Data Link probably was looking for dirt even though he’s not an MTO. Clement and Rosario will hook up again.
(3) HOT DOCTOR cuts back and drops for Rice. His best race was on the dirt and Jose sticks. (7) SANDOR CLEGANE has been on fast, firm and muddy so he’s done it all. This time he gets L1 which may explain the big fade last time.
