Happy Whitney day at the SPA! We have an absolutely stacked card today and we are going to look to get ALL of the action. I will be attacking the early double as well as a spot pick 3 (Races 7-9). Big Pete will be locked into the late pick 3 (Races 10-12) and have his "Plays of the Day" on other races on the card. We are looking to cash some tickets today and hope everyone is joining in on the fun. I am saving myself for next weekend to catch some of the live racing, but will be comfortably playing at a bar near you. We appreciate you taking the time to look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
With Tuggle coming out, we’ll focus on the Ward runner (4) STAGE LEFT to get back to the winners circle. He has a win here in the last two years so the horse for course angle is in full force. Johnny V gets the call and look for him to go early and take control. They probably sits just behind (3) Newcomb and go by when he wants to. I like the outside runner to come late on the scene. (6) Ampersand does have a win on this track.
$ 10.00 Exacta 4 w/ 3, 6 Cost $ 20.00
We’ll also use Stage Left in R3 and try to crash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
Both (3) Sandro The Great and (9) Shutters look solid in the 4th
$ 7.00 Double 4 w/ 3, 9 Cost $ 14.00

Race 5:
I like the stretch out to 7F for (3) KEEPCALMCARRYON. He tried to run with Wit in his debut but he was way too good. He did get on track late to get 2nd and this Union Rags will enjoy the extra distance. We’ll use three firsters underneath.
We’ll use (5) Big Skipper, (8) Imminent Storm and (10) Predicted underneath.
$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 14.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 3 w/ 5, 8, 10 Cost $ 21.00
We’ll also use Keepcalmcarryon in R5 and try to crash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
Both (2) Delaware and (5) Flavius look solid in the 6th
$ 10.00 Double 3 w/ 2, 5 Cost $ 20.00
Little Pete's $2.00 Early Double:
Race 1:
Strategy over everything in this race. I really expect this to be an exciting race late and having the field with a stronger opinion in the second leg is going to be how I play it. Here is how I will be breaking down the vertical play in this race. (8) Speak Unity is going to improve second time out on grass and this race will be won late. This horse's experience and getting a stretch out should benefit this horse the most. I also will be trying the firster from (7) Steal the Cash. I think Luis Saez will be able to navigate a trip from the rail and I think this English Channel son will be able to handle the grass distance extremely well.
$5.00 WPS 8 Cost: $15.00
$2.00 Ex 7,8 w/ 1,2,5,7,8 Cost: $16.00
Race 2:
I really like (1) JourneyMan in here with the rail position and drop down in class. Luis will be aggressive early to find the lead and not give it up. This horse is switching back to dirt and I do not aniticipate a drop off in here at all. (3) Zoomer will b my other inclusion in here with the pick up of Rosario. This horse is goign to be able to navigate a rail trip and be able to fan out wide come stretch drive and let Rosario try and catch (1) JourneyMan late.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,2,3,4,6 Cost: $16.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 7:
(3) War Like Goddess looks great on paper and is a must play on the tickets. We should expect some speed to the outside, which will perfectly set up this horse for a late closing score. I also like (2) Temple City Terror in here to run a forwardly placed rail position throughout and then Gaffalione set up a late serging horse down the stretch. My top pick is going to be (4) Orglandes who I think will set up extremely well in here and Irad is gettingback aboard. This horse is going to be stalking throughout and then have a fanned out charge late to compete for this one. (5) My Sister Nat looks great as well coming into this one. This horse is going to be right towards the front throughout and will have a head start on the horses stated above running down the stretch.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 4,5 w/ 2,3,4,5 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 2,3 w/ 2,3,4,5 Cost: $6.00
Race 8:
(8) Bella Sofia is my wild card play in here from the outside. I love the form this horse is in and has proven the ability to beat winners. I think this horse will come down from 6/1 and is a must play in my opinion. (1) Illumination has been training lights out and has the inside post. We know Johnny V will put this horse on the lead and we understand that Baffert horse's typically find the lead and never give it up. (5) Always Carina is dangerous with Flavien Prat aboard. This horse is in top form and improving each time out. The move back in distance will allow this horse to sprint home late. (7) Search Results is another horse that I think must be included. Irad will be right off the pace and wait for the moment to challenge the horses on the lead and try and hit the wire first.
$3.00 WPS 8 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 5,8 w/ 1,5,7,8 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 1,7 w/ 1,5,7,8 Cost: $6.00
Race 9:
What a tough race to end the PK3 on.. (1) Soldier Rising is making his US debut and has the connections. This horse will be able to handle the distance and training consistently well in here. Clement horses run their best late on grass and this marathon is tempting for Irad to strategically place this horse well throughout. (6) Bolshoi Ballet is a must play in here and just may be too good on grass for this field. (7) Secret Protector has Mike Smith aboard and I am not losing to Mike Smith in here. This horse is going to be on the rail look to save all of the ground in here. (10) Flashiestis an extremely interesting horse to me in here. This horse loves to come from the clouds late and is facing his best to date in this one. I am playing this horse to step up and run a strong race late down the stretch.
$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 6,7 w/ 1,6,7,10 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 1,10 w/ 1,6,7,10 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 10:
I am not conceding to the two favorites as all five have a shot. I prefer (5) MAXFIELD over (4) KNICKS GO. The filly is who I landed on. (3) SWISS SKYDIVER faced the boys twice. Losing only to Art Collector and beating Authentic. Those two would dominate these boys today. (1) BY MY STANDARDS is dangerous and will get overlooked. He looks better this year with a win and 2nd to Sliver State. I think the 9F helps this guy the most and his regular rider ships in for the upset.
$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 1, 3 w/ 1, 3, 5 Cost $ 18.00
Race 11:
There are a few speeds signed on so I’ll focus on the stalkers and closers. (3) RISK TAKING has been scratched a few times this year so there’s that to be concerned about, but those races were against the big boys. Brown may have been look for a softer spot all along. (5) EMPTY TOMB is who I want. He’s been the most consistent of this bunch and Gaff won on him two back. He can sit right behind the front runners and pick them up late. (6) AIR ATTACK is the sleeper. Something went wrong last time and he needed a rest. He comes back with some zip in the morning so I think he’s sitting on one here. If he can open daylight coming into the stretch, they probably don’t catch him.
$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 5, 6 w/ 1, 3, 5, 6 Cost $ 18.00
Race 12:
(3) SUSSEX GARDEN most likely wants to sprint. She tried the 1M against Runaway Rumour but couldn’t hold on. Castellano may choose to stalk today as there is speed on top of speed in here. She’s a major player in here. I can’t resist the 10:1 on (8) BAY JEWEL today. She didn’t get clear sailing until too late in her last and she is re-united with the other Jose, Lezcano. They do well together and we’re expecting a Re-Pete of their May win. (7) TIME LIMIT tries open company but picks up Saez to help. They should get first jump on the closers. (6) RISKY MISCHIEF is returning from a layoff and that appears to be the only concern as this gal has hit the board in all of her grass races.
