We are getting closer to Saratoga and the excitement is building. We will be looking to add to the bankroll on today's card at Belmont by attacking a pair of pick 3 plays that covers the pick 6 sequence. I will be focused on races 4-6 and Big Pete will be locked into races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" for a race we would to invest a little more $$$ on. We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R4: 1, 8
R5: 1, 2, 3
R6: 3, 6, 7, 8 Cost: $24.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R7: 4, 5
R8: 4, 5, 9
R9: 1, 2, 6, 9 Cost: $ 24.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
I like horses coming into a claiming race after just winning one of them the race before. This horse looks to be in good enough form and competitive enough to get the job done against this field. There should be some speed to her inside, but I think Lezcano will allow the race to settle before setting (2) Tenderness to take this one.
$5.00 WPS 2 Cost: $15.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
The favorites figure to take a lot of money in this MCL 40K turf. They exit the same race where they both came running to just miss.( Voliero & Dreampoint ). Masked Marauder will also take some action on the big drop but that last one off the layoff was awful. I like the Weaver runner (10) JACK’S DREAM stretching out after showing improvement adding L1 and blinkers last time. Cancel returns and should avoid trouble from the outside draw.
$ 7.00 WPS 10 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 10 w/ 4, 7 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also use (10) Jack’s Dream in R2 and try to crash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
We’ll use Lil Pete’s pick (2) Tenderness and (6) Left Leaning Lucy in the 3rd.
$ 7.00 Double 10 w/ 2, 6 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
(1) Public Information looks too good to beat in here on paper and I am going to include only one other horse in case the race breaks down late. (8) K. K. Ichikawa gets Rosario aboard again this time out and I expect a late closing race from this horse from a field that should be quick early. With a well timed run down the stretch I think this horse could be a late player.
$7.00 Ex 1 w/ 8 Cost: $7.00
$3.00 Ex 8 w/ 1 Cost: $3.00
Race 5:
I am sticking to three firsters in here and the three horses to the inside. (2) Ready A.P. sold for $125K and should be ready to run first time out under Saez. I am expecting a stalking position throughout and let the horse run on with it late. (3) PrincessInParadise is a Mike Maker firster that doesn't scream to me with the workouts, but the shipment up north to run in NY makes me believe this horse is getting a tune up before being entered into some bigger races. Last play will be (1) Helens Spirit who gets the rail post position and coming in with a nice workout. Dylan Davis will be aggressive from the gate and if the firsters in here aren't ready to run first time out then I like this horse on the lead.
$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00
$3.00 Ex Box 1,2,3 Cost: $18.00
Race 6:
(3) Mary Jane Chrome is switching surfaces in here and I think will be able to find better footing than her first time out; the drop in class is also a play for me. (6) Adele Kat has shown the fight in here and the switch to Jose Ortiz could be the difference in here. (7) Know How is a horse I really like and think her last race was a fluke and getting Luis aboard again should end in a different result. This horse is going to be trouble throughout. Last play will be (8) Evidence Based who is a Chad Brown play in here on grass who takes a class drop after a pretty good debut. This horse should get a bunch of money thrown at her.
$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 6,7 w/ 3,6,7,8 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 3,8 w/ 3,6,7,8 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
I’ll try to keep the ticket small and only use two in here. (4) HAPPY FARM is the potential lone speed and has won twice already at this level this year. His only defeats have come against Chateau, Pete’s Play Call, Mind Control and Firenze Fire in the past two years. None of those guys entered here. We’ll include the best closer of this bunch as a saver. (5) CLENCH is fresh off the Rudy claim as this guy looks like he has worked himself back in shape. He was closing well last time and just missed and reunites with Manny. We’ll try to get by with just these two as I’m not a fan of the other favorite Town Classic
$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 4, 5 w/ 4, 5, 6 Cost $ 12.00
Race 8:
(4) SPUNGIE is the filly to beat. She dominated maidens two back and followed that up with a fast closing 2nd. A must use but it should be noted that her worst performance came on a turf course with some give in it. I’ll try to beat her with (9) BIG AL’S GAL. Jose returns after he encountered some trouble last time and will try to make it right today. She finished behind Spungie and the talented Runaway Rumour last time but should work out a better trip outside. (5) PURE BODE moves back to her preferred surface after trying dirt. Distance is what she wants and if the top two take the afternoon off, she’ll be right there to pick up the pieces.
$ 7.00 WPS 9 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 4, 9 w/ 3, 4, 5, 9 Cost $ 18.00
Race 9:
We’ll approach this finale as if it stays on the grass. The MTO entries were not scratched out of the later races at the time of this post so we’ll keep an eye on the sky as the afternoon goes on. (6) BAIL OUT and Saez tried to wire similar last time and held on well for 2nd. A Re-Pete of that will make him a player today. Pletcher drops (2) INSPIRATION POINT and switches to Jose. They try grass for the first time and he should handle it fine. I want (1) HILLIARD as he gets regular rider Davis back and showed signs of improvement last time. He posted a big bullet at the Spa last week for this and ships south instead of waiting for the big show to start in a couple of weeks. (9) VALUE CHAIN figures to offer value even with Irad up. He ran evenly while being herded but only lost by five. I’m expecting some improvement first time out for the new barn.
