First Saturday back at Belmont and we have a (3) Stake day! I will be looking to take down the early double as well as a pick3 that starts the pick 6 sequence (Races 6-8). Big Pete will have some of his "Plays of the Day" as well as taking down the late pick 3 (Races 9-11). We really appreciate you taking the time to read this write-up and GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 2.00 Early Double:
R1: 2, 7, 8
R2: 4, 6, 7, 9 Cost: $24.00
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R6: 1, 5, 6, 8
R7: 2, 5, 10, 11
R8: 2, 5, 10 Cost: $48.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R9: 1, 2, 7
R10: 2, 3, 8
R11: 2, 3, 6, 10 Cost: 36.00
Little Pete's $2.00 Early Double:
Race 1:
(2) Java Buzz will improve from the impressive run first time out and has the rail position to boot. This horse should be able to find a nice position early and have plenty left late to run down the field and be a tough one to catch. (7) Grand Sonata is a horse I like in here first time out from the Pletcher barn. Flavien Prat is going to look to win a couple in here and has a live horse from what the workouts state. (8) Figlio Del Re is my last play with Jose Ortiz getting a speed horse to the outside. I think this horse will be placed into the action early and I think that pays off well late for this horse.
$3.00 Ex Box 2,7,8 Cost: $18.00
Race 2:
(4) Baby I'm Perfect is going to be aggressive from the gate and in this lower level race I think that is the place to be; must play. (6) Regal Quality is going to be forwardly placed as well and Irad is so good in these lower level fields. He will be a bully throughout and this may turn into a jockey's race. (7) Winning Drive is a horse I like to be placed well early and then have something left in the tank late to make it interesting. (9) Summer Bourbon is coming in to this one in the best form and should be lower than 5/1 come post time. Lezcano is going to be stalking the lead early and wait for the moment to shoot down the stretch.
$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 6,9 w/ 4,6,7,9 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 4,7 w/ 4,6,7,9 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
I like (8) INGRESS to get back on track with the switch back to turf. She ran on well against a salty group two back and just didn’t take to the dirt last time. The extra distance will on help this Medaglia D’Oro and Jr returns.
I’ll use w/ (2) Bipartisanship and (3) So Enchanting
$ 10.00 WPS 8 Cost $ 30.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 2, 3, 8 Cost $ 18.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 4:
(4) LONE ROCK has been automatic and figures to Re-Pete again. I won’t try to beat him but look for some value underneath. With Moretti coming out, I can't see anyone in here threatening the heavy favorite. (3) Empty Tomb will try to take them as far as he can. I'm interested in (1) Mo Gotcha coming late to the party. This guy can sit chilly with Lone Rock and both of them can come late for the cold exacta.
$ 20.00 Ex 4 w/ 1 Cost $ 20.00
$ 10.00 Ex 4 w/ 3 Cost $ 10.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
Ward gives Johnny V the keys on (5) NO TIME ALONE. She’s been knocking on the door once they switched this Flintshire to the grass. With the wide turns and deep stretch, this gal figures to run away from this group as they stretch her out a little more. All systems go today.
(1) Kant Hurry Love tries turf for the first time and (11) Rooski ran into a good one in her debut. Both will follow No Time Alone’s move and settle for 2nd.
$ 20.00 Ex 5 w/ 1 Cost $ 20.00
$ 10.00 Ex 5 w/ 11 Cost $ 10.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 6:
(1) Hot Fudge to the inside has the rail position and the experience. This horse should show some big improvement this time out and we should expect plenty of speed from this horse. (5) Practical Paulie is a firster I like to show some speed in here. Lezcano will look to break strongly and allow this horse to save ground throughout towards the lead; which pays off late. (6) Frosted Oats is going to get another try on dirt for me as this horse should improve in this one and the field isn't screaming to be fantastic. (8) Shared Future has Saez aboard and will get an aggressive trip in here. Asmussen horses like the lead and Luis knows how to get them there.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,8 w/ 1,5,6,8 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 5,6 w/ 1,5,6,8 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
(2) OneNightStandards is going to have the rail and should be able to be forwardly placed against this field. I like Kendrick getting the mount and think this horse will be a force late. (5) Southern District is going to be saving everything for the stretch drive and I trust the Irad/Brown combo to run a big one.(10) Hidden Enemy gets Luis Saez and is in good form. This horse is going to shoot from the gate and be a player throughout. I trust Saez to be a bully late down the stretch and a must play for me. (11) Eyes on Target is my last play from the outside who, if left alone, will be a tough catch late.
$3.00 WPS 10 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 5,10 w/ 2,5,10,11 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 2,11 w/ 2,5,10,11 Cost: $6.00
Race 8:
(2) Esotica gets Irad again and taking a big jump up. I think the beneficial rail position and the ability to find the lead early makes this horse really dangerous in here at a decent morning line price. (5) Out First I think is going to benefit from some early speed and find a nice rail position early. This horse will wait for the right moment to fan out wide and eat up ground late. My last play will be (10) Snicket who I think will get an aggressive ride throughout and this race is asking for an aggressive ride.
$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 2,5,10 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 9:
Euro’s flying in to prep for the big race this fall. (7) HARAJUKU has only 2 wins under her belt but she is usually right there against some good fillies over there. Fabre brings in regular rider for this and bred to run all day. (1) CREATIVE FLAIR wants more ground and she gets it today. Smith didn’t do much with her last time at the Spa as maybe he was just here vacationing. Now Appleby brings his own jock and they mean business. I’m betting that they turn the table on (2) HIGHER TRUTH today. This Galileo wants more distance as well and I expect both rail runners to be charging home fast late.
$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 1, 2 w/ 1, 2, 3, 7 Cost $ 18.00
Race 10:
It’s the boys turn and again I sided with the Euro’s. Appleby will look for a daily double as he sends out (2) YIBIR who’s been on a roll lately. Gets a cozy spot on the hedge and should be close all the way. (8) BOLSHOI BALLET is the colt to beat. He didn’t navigate the tight turns as well as he did here two back. He’ll need to save some ground some where as he faces some tougher competition here. I can’t pass on (3) TOKYO GOLD. He finished right behind Bolshoi and the extra distance figures to give this long winded colt the advantage. Johnny V might keep him a little closer than they were last time and just grind it out the final few furlongs.
$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 2, 3 w/ 2, 3, 4, 8 Cost $ 18.00
Race 11:
(10) REPO ROCKS makes a lot of sense here. He’s fresh off the claim and Irad stays with him. They closed going 7F last time and now cuts back slightly. He figures to stalk the speeds and come with his run. (2) COLORMEPAZZI is fond of Big Sandy and drops in for an easier spot. Cancel has a big win with him and they are looking for a Re-Pete of that. Rudy claimed (3) ADVANCE NOTICE and will try to find his Jun 17th race that he dominated here. Manny steps in and they figure to be a tough out today. I can’t resist (6) RISK PROFILE. He has the speed, Johnny V and he too likes Belmont. The cut back to 6F makes this guy the speed to beat. If he has a clear lead early, they don’t catch him.
