It is shaping up to be a beautiful day at the races in Gulfstream, and we may finally have some stacked fields and turf racing! We are going to attack two pick 3 plays again today; which both could be combined to use towards the pick 6, but who am I to tell you what to do? I am going to focus on races 5-7 and Big Pete will be focusing on race 8-10. We will have some vertical plays in each of these races as well to try and hedge our two tickets. If you have any other insights in to these races and feel confident, then let us know on Twitter (@PetesPicks1). GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's Spot $0.50 Pick 3:

R5: 2, 5, 6, 8, 9

R6: 2, 6, 13

R7: 1, 2, 4

Cost: $22.50

Big Pete's Late $0.50 Pick 3:

R8: 1, 5, 6, 7

R9: 1, 5, 8

R10: 1, 2, 4

Cost: $18.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

(9) Dr. Samadi was most recently purchased as a two year old for $115,000 and for his debut he is being placed in to a Maiden claiming race at $25,000. I am assuming that they are just trying to collect some type of check on this horse and his best workout was a little over a week ago. I do not trust this horse to single it on the ticket, but he will be my top play for the race. (8) Sundown Kid has two bullet workouts leading in to this one and could be live right out of the gate; I will include this horse even with the extended layoff. (2) Bourbon Street had a bad break from the gate last time out, so throwing away that race; which leaves us with some good showings at this distance and should be able to compete against this field. (5) Ten Miles High is coming over from Tampa and has a red hot Zayas aboard, so also will include. (6) Tapi Frost is exiting a key race to me and I just do not want to leave off ticket.

$2.00 Ex 8,9 w/ 2,5,6,8,9 Cost: $16.00

Race 6:

This is (13) Chill Haze's race to lose here, so should be considered for a single. I am being paranoid and going to include two other horses that have plenty of speed to just make myself a little more comfortable; those horses are (2) Mr Nappy and (6) Jaxon's Goldie.

$2.00 Ex Box 2,6,13 Cost: $12.00

Race 7:

I am anticipating (7) Kimura and (5) Beast of Wild to seek the early lead in this 7 furlong race on the dirt. (1) Words of Devine and (4) Pick up the Fone should be placed in a good stalking position behind those two leaders and both have a good stretch run. (2) Don't Get Cozy is my top play here with her ability to sustain a good run and looks to be ascending at this moment.

$2.00 Ex Box 1,2,4 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

(6) MS HEADLEY has two turf sprints on her resume that beats these runners today. Didn’t care for the off the turf event two back, then took some time off. Her last may have been a tune up as she wants no part of a 1M distance but showed her speed nonetheless. Fast workouts in the AM should have her on her toes. Try and catch me today. (5) SUGAR BOLT matches up against this group, but do we get the real Sugar or the Sweet N Low version off the layoff? (7) PALACE TWO STEP is consistant enough to offer a challenge here. (1) QUEEN FIELD tries sprinting for the first time. Sano called on Saez, but he’s off today and Vasquez subs in. All good signs.

$3.00 Ex 1,6 w/ 1,5,6,7 Cost $18.00

Race 9:

(1) WILD MEDAGLIAD’ORA doesn’t seem to mind the dirt. I like the inside draw where Saez can now stalk Roddick or beat him to the first turn. The break will most likely decide that. I’ll try to get both closers to run the speeds down. (8) FIRST AND THREE gets a little class relief here and could be the danger late. Usually hits the board so a must use for exotics. (5) GRAY BEAU is a gutsy vet who keeps collecting checks. He too wakes up every so often with a nice run. May today for him?

$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex Box 1,5,8 Cost: $18.00

Race 10:

It’ll be tough to keep Irad and Saez off the final Leg of this Pick3. Hopefully we’re still alive. (4) BACANO is fresh off the Sano claim is looking to get his money back right now. A Re-Pete of his maiden win on the turf should be enough here. (2) DILLON ROCKS took forever to break his maiden while on the NYRA circuit for most of it. He seems to have found the grass greener here at Gulfstream. Irad rides him for the first time and drops slightly. That’s usually a winning move at this level. Of course we’ll use them both, but I’ll also include (1) YOUSHOULDBESOLUCKY to beat them both. Every so often, this one comes with a decent run late. I’m looking for today to be that day. Torres is enjoying a nice meet as he takes over the riding assignment.

$7.00 WPS 1 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex Box 1,2,4 Cost: $18.00
