We are back to weekend racing at Gulfstream and we are going to key in on the early double and the late pick 4. I will be the one focusing in on the early double, so probably can already chalk that one up as a win (Positive thinking?). Then we will be doing a joint pick 4, where we will be splitting the cost but will make sure it is an affordable-ish ticket. If you have any other insights in to these races that we may not have addressed, please reach out on twitter (@PetesPicks1). GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's Early $1.00 Double:
R1: 1, 10, 11
R2: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Cost: $15.00
Big Pete & Little Pete's Late Pick 4:
R8: 1, 3, 5, 6, 7
R9: 5, 7, 10, 11
R10: 3, 5
R11: 6, 9, 11
Cost: $60.00
Little Pete's Early Double:
Race 1:
With the scratch of the (5) Anima D'or it looks to be a single for the (1) Gran Old Parr. This horse is moving to grass and has Jaramillo aboard on the inside post who will definitely look to get to the early lead and look take this one. With that being said, I will include two price bombs with (10) Ninth of April and (11) Atakan. (10) Ninth of April is getting back to a class which better suits him and has been in some good beyer speed races the last two times out and could be ready to compete. (11) Atakan is going second time out on grass and cutting back in distance; which could be the combination needed to also compete in this one.
$5.00 Ex 1 w/ 10,11 Cost: $10.00
Race 2:
With the scratch of the (1) King's Castle this makes it a five horse field. There is a lot of early speed in this one and I think that this race is going to be wide open to any of the five horses. I know the Saez horse will get a lot of play here, but I am going to use the field. I am banking on an upset in the first leg and will go from there.
$5.00 WPS 3 Cost: $15.00
Big Pete & Little Pete's Late Pick 4:
Race 8:
Big Pete:
(3) GO GATOR GIRL GO took money off the layoff two back when she tried this level. Then, botched a bad experiment on the turf last time. Vasquez now returns at the right distance and surface. Worth a shot at this price. (6) DANCING DESTROYER was set up to win last time but it didn’t work out. Saez will try again. (5) ROYAL MISTRESS dropped and almost beat Destroyer. Better post and a little more ground should be the answer.
$3.00 Ex 3,5 w/ 1,3,5,6 Cost: $18.00
Little Pete:
(2) Solid As A Rock will set the early pace and this makes me lean for a closer in this one; which unfortunately makes me land on four horses in this one. (1) Lovely Lady Lexi will love a quick pace and will be in a good stalking position to pass tiring horses. (6) Dancing Destroyer will also be sitting right off the pace and will have plenty left. (7) Bibiana has Hector aboard who had a pretty good day yesterday and could be carrying some momentum in to this mount. (8) Grey Jazmine is my price play here coming in off a good win and I think will be ready to roll if the pace is blistering.
$2.00 Ex 1,6 w/ 1,6,7,8 Cost: $12.00
Race 9:
Big Pete:
I’ll use (7) COMETIN, (10) SO LONG CHUCK and (11) BIG BOY BRUNO and hold my breath. You may need to spread out here to survive as anyone of them can wake up and smell the roses for one day. Except (8) Royalston of course, that one is a toss.
$3.00 Ex Box 7,10,11 Cost: $18.00
Little Pete:
(5) Blakey seems to flip flop each time out with competing for the win and being pulled up. By that trend, this is the competing race and Saez is choosing to ride this one; which makes this horse a strong play for me. I am not in love with the morning line favorite, (3) French Quarter, who I think won't race well against winners in this one. May have to include because of Big Pete, but I would leave off ticket. (10) So Long Chuck had an 88 beyer speed race last time out and could be finding his feet a little bit and will be my last play.
$4.00 Ex 5,10 w/ 3,5,10 Cost: $16.00
Race 10:
Big Pete:
If you want the all button in the previous race, your single may be (3) TONALIST’S SHAPE here. Joseph’s is all business and makes the switch to Irad. Has a G2 trophy in her pocket and will put it on display through the stretch. There’s a little cause FoR pause after her dismal effort last time so we’ll also include the new face, (5) UP IN SMOKE. She’s 3 for 3 and will try to stretch out. Has Weaver and Saez in her corner.
$7.00 WPS 5 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex Box 3,5,7 Cost: $18.00
Little Pete:
(3) Tonalist's Shape is going to be a tough beat here and I will include, but I like a couple others in this one. (2) Pleasant Orb will be a bit of a price in this one, but I like the stretch out in this one and think that the move up in class will be seamless and horse will be ready to go. (5) Up In Smoke is getting a needed stretch out and I think this horse will be a strong contender late. (8) Cheermeister will be looking for the lead early, but I think will be challenged from the outside post and will tire late. I will be leaving off of my ticket.
$2.00 Ex Box 2,3,5 Cost: $12.00
Race 11:
Big Pete:
Race changed dramatically with the scratches. (9) MAQUIAVELO may now play the favorite role. He put in a decent run to get the show last time. (11) HAPPY DANZA drops here and cuts back to a manageable 5F. Will be a lot shorter than his 80:1 odds last time. The one I’m interested in is (6) SUPER INTENSE. This Goldencent, out of a Artie Schiller Mare, is meant to sprint on the grass. 10:1 ML will come down. If he gets to 3:1 or 4:1, the word is out and I’m all in.
$7.00 WPS 6 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex Box 6,9,11 Cost: $18.00
Little Pete:
The scratch of (3) Nothin But Net opens this one up for me, so will be looking to spread a bit. I landed on three speed horses that I think will try and get to the lead and not look back. (1) Swingin On A Star is exiting a race with (3) Nothin But Net, but does not have to race against him in this one so will be a contender here. (9) Maquiavelo is also exiting the same race and has some weight relief; which could be the answer. (11) Happy Danza has been the most consistent to date and has the speed to handle this field.
