Gulfstream 4/9 Early Pick 4

We are back to racing at Gulfstream Park in south Florida. Today our ticket will be on the early PK4 (Races 2-5) and we will have vertical plays through those four races as well. We are hoping that everyone has continued to enjoy the racing that we still have left and hope we all can win some money going in to Easter weekend. We hope that you are playing along with us or fading our picks; whatever it takes to cash the ticket. Race 2:
Big Pete:
The focus will be on the favorite (2) SHE LOVE ME. He drops in search of a win. Not a great sign to me. I’ll try and beat him with (5) STEADILY. Was being shuffled from barn to barn recently off the claims and was bet heavy in his last three. May inherit the lead with the scratch of Dizzy. May get overlooked here and gets in light with the bug up.

With the big scratch of (7) Dizzy Sight in this one it opens this race completely up. I am leaning to Mr. Consistent in this field of beaten horses with (5) Steadily who has hit the board the last five times out. I will let Big Pete handle any other horse in our play, as I am still upset about the single in this race being scratched. BUT LIFE MUST GO ON..

Race 3:
Big Pete:
Not surprising that (8) CLIFTON PARK, out of a Colonel John mare,finally woke up with the switch to turf. Now drops slightly to an easier spot. Saez is back and will be a short price, but a must play. (15) CUY is the gelding I’m interested in. Draws in and showed speed when he finally got out of the gate clean. Attracts Lebron for this.

I am seeing a beatable favorite in the (4) Mayito in this one; we will include him in this one for the Gaffalione/Joseph, Jr. connection. (2) RapStoreRocks gets Dylan Davis here and has already raced against the favorite, and a better ride may be all this horse needs to get to the winner's circle. We have to include (8) Clifton Park who is taking a class drop and has Saez aboard who is looking to get hot. Plus, shout out upstate NY!

I’m not going to waste your time looking for a wise guy play here. Both (3) DANCING DESTROYER and (7) REITERATE will take all the money and both can win. We’ll use these two and move on to the finale.

Little Pete:
Top selection in this one for me is (3) Dancing Destroyer who has enough early pace to be set up well for a drive run and I think she will do it. I do like the thought of including all horses in this one, except for the (6) Foxy Lady. I know that is pretty harsh, but so is life.

Race 5:
Big Pete:
(2) SPIRITUAL KING ran faster than these in his turf debut when facing MSW and now cuts back to the 1M distance. If he gets clear on the first turn, I don’t think they can catch him. (3) MORE THAN USUAL gets Gaff and he also drops (5) RATIFY is fresh off the claim and might make the King work for it up front. I’ll go four deep here.

(5) Ratify is going to be a tough beat in this mile race on turf. I like the thought of Rosario getting this horse to the early lead and sit on some nice time fractions throughout and wire the field. (3) More Than Usual should have a better showing then last time out with some distance relief. (4) Fork Union and (7) Dr. Doyle are both exiting the same race, and I think a similar performance puts these two in contentions to win this one. (11) StoneCastle is a strong play here for me with his closing ability; which I think he will have plenty left to do just that. (12) Strong Headed is an interesting horse here and I will be looking at race 3 plays out with Clifton Park and Hell Bent at their mile distance. This horse is taking a small class jump and being entered just a day over two weeks from last time out; which could mean the trainer sees this horse ready to roll in this one.
