We are looking to take down the late pick 4 again today at Gulfstream. We have ourselves some nice packed fields and beautiful overcast weather in South Florida today. We hope that everyone is remaining safe in these extraordinary times and can be a little distracted with today's card.. GOOD LUCK.

Petes' Late Pick 4:

R6: 3, 4, 5

R7: 2, 4, 7

R8: 3, 4

R9: 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 12

Cost: $54.00

Race 6:

Big Pete:

(3) CANDY MACHINE was well backed in his debut and ran a gutsy 2nd. The two turn distance will only help and we’ll look to just survive the opening leg. Pletcher has a couple in here so I’ll side with (5) ELLIS ISLAND as Saez lands on this one and the two turns will also help. (4) FRIED RICE KING is the other and will like show speed today to help soften up the fav and set up his barn mate.

$3.00 Ex Box 3,4,5 Cost: $18.00

Little Pete:

In this maiden special weight I am thinking we just have to play the three morning line favorites here. (1) Mau Mau is a firster for Bill Mott who has some pedigree, but I do not think this distance will suit him to win this time out. (2) Or'effice I want to make a case for and will be the fourth betting option in this one, but he lost to Tapage who got smoked in his next time out in a claiming race for $18K in Tampa; I will exclude from my ticket. I do not see any horse outside of the (5) that has a significant chance of winning this one. The connections speak for this race..

$2.00 Ex Box 3,4,5 Cost: $12.00

Race 7:

Big Pete:

I’ll focus heavy on (4) LA TRES JOLIE and let LP sort out the rest. Jolie moved to the turf last time and took to it to only lose by 4 lengths against better fillies. Now Sano sees an opportunity to get a check and/or send her on her way by dropping to this 12K claimer. Not many win types in here, so we’ll try to get this 10:1 in the mix.

$7.00 WPS 4 Cost: 21.00

Little Pete:

(2) Interest is the horse to beat here for me. Throw out his last time out where he stumbled badly and expect more of the same from the Saez/Joseph, Jr. combination; WINNING. I will hedge a little bit with some horses that I think will be charging late. (7) Silly Notion is undefeated in his career (one race), but I think is a strong player here with her late speed. (10) Teacher Drama will be looking to get to the lead early and save as much energy as she can for the stretch run, and I think she could have enough.

$2.00 Ex Box 2,7,10 Cost: $12.00

Race 8:

Big Pete:

(4) OFF TOPIC will be a short price and a must use. She’s been off since Sept so that’s why I won’t pull the trigger on a single. Pletcher has a back up in (1) TAKECHARGE MIRELLA incase Topic is Off. The interesting one is (3) SO CUNNING. She didn’t miss a beat coming off a 9 Mo layoff to score a “workout like” win against NW1X. Acid test today but Clement is winning races and hands over the controls to Rosario.

$5.00 WPS 3 Cost: $15.00

$3.00 Ex 3,4 w/ 1,3,4 Cost: $12.00

Little Pete:

No one is going to beat (4) Off Topic in this one. Too much class and form, and is a pretty nice single here. I feel very comfortable leaving her alone on the PK4 and if I lose all I can do is tip my cap. This does not mean that I do not like others in this race; I just don't think their best can beat (4) Off Topic at her best or close to her best.

$20.00 Win 4 Cost: $20.00

Race 9:

Big Pete:

Major scratch makes this wide open now. Ward keeps stretching out this English Channel filly (7) CHEROKEE SOUND. Not surprisingly, she’s improved each time with distance. We won’t get the 15:1 ML now but she’ll be the one moving forward to the stretch. (2) VEER held her own for most of her last race and now drops for an easier spot. Davis is hungry for wins down there, so she’s another one to watch out for.

$7.00 WPS 7 Cost: $21.00

Little Pete:

If we made it this far, nice. The scratch to the morning line favorite, (3) Tapit To Ride, changes the race drastically for me. (2) Veer is taking a class drop here and that could wake her up in this one, so will be a play for me. (4) Matcha may have just ran in to her field that she can break her maiden with; this horse is a strong play here for me. (5) Laska has shown great closing ability on grass in previous races and this stretch run is going to be wide open to me, so must be a play. (7) Cherokee Sound will get bet down from the 15/1 morning line number, especially with those two bullet workouts. (10) Positive Power and (12) Maricopa are the two outside horses that I like to stalk the lead and have enough left to challenge the field for the wire.
