We are looking to close this racing weekend with a nice late PK4 ticket. We are also going to have some vertical plays in each of these races, and are feeling good about these races. We hope everyone is remaining safe and sane, and that this racing can be a nice little distraction until the Michael Jordan documentary tonight. Race 8:
Big Pete:
Pletcher sends out a pair of Aces for this 1M turf event. (5) NO WORD won at first asking at the Spa and followed that with a good performance in the Pilgrim. He’ll need to run down his stable mate (4) MYSTIC LANCELOT who will get first jump on the closers. No need to bluff here as we’ll lean on these two to get us started. (3) AFICIONADO needs turf, so he will bounce back and hit the board.

Three horse race for me with the two Pletcher horses, (4) Mystic Lancelot & (5) No Word, and (9) PleaseCallMeBack. I think (4) Mystic Lancelot is exiting a key race and is ascending at this time and is a must play. (5) No Word has had a long layoff and a big drop in class to this claiming race, but this horse has the pedigree and the trainer to get this race. (9) PleaseCallMeBack is my price play here, but anticipating it will be bet down on the tote board. This horse is dropping in to claiming competition and I think this will wake this horse up to a big ride and the move to Jaramillo will only help on grass.

Chase Runner, who (3) TRAPPEZOID beat last time, returned yesterday to dominate better. Will be a short price but must use to survive. Gets Zayas. Saez may be the lone speed with (7) BLAKEY which will make this one my top pick. If the others fall asleep, he’ll be tough to catch in the lane. Only using these two.

I landed on another three horse race on the outside with (6) Dexter Road, (7) Blakey, and (8) Yes I See. (6) Dexter Road has hit the board three races in a row at this distance and taking a small jump in competition and I think this horse will be ready for the move up. (7) Blakey is going to be my top selection here with Saez aboard and I think that with the fast track this horse will be in prime position sitting behind the leader and pass late to win it. (8) Yes I See is the old blood here and has continued to show consistency on the race track and is a must play here.

Connections of (1) PAKHET were high on this filly back in 2018. Was put on the shelf after Breeders Cup and wasn’t the same in 2019. Her 2020 debut looked like a public workout to set her up for this and she doesn’t mind a little give if there’s any moisture left over. We’ll also use the other Cairo Prince as (6) CARIBA finally woke up when Clement put her on the grass. Most likely favorite here.

I think a Mark Casse horse will win this one with either (1) Pakhet and (3) All Quality. (1) Pakhet will be my top selection in this race and I think I may float around the varbiage "best bet." She is dropping down in class and exiting a key race with Silver Kitten and performed very well. I think that she will be much the best today and close convincingly against this field. (3) All Quality has Saez and is exiting a race where she needed more room to close on a group of horses that were all closing well and I think this horse will be placed in a better position to close with the jockey upgrade. (8) Bering Strait from the Pletcher barn might be a play in the ticket here because we do not want to lose to him if he hits the PK3 here, so most likely will include.

Race 11:

(13) SNEER ran too good to lose last time. That was dirt and now she moves to her preferred surface. Saez will dictate the pace and may prove to be too tough to catch today.Both (4) RENATA and (8) BRIGHT STREET are Medaglia D’oro’s fillies that will be coming home strong in the stretch. If Sneer gets tired, one or both will close out this Pick 4.

Let us spread ourselves around here with some pretty good horses in this filly maiden special weight. I am not going to go too deep in this with the handicapping, so if you have some angles please let me know so I can update my ticket. I will be throwing in (2) Let Them Eat Cake, (4) Renata, (6) Better With Age, (10) Makisupa, and (13) Sneer. Whole bunch of horses that will be a whole bunch of money to play.
