We are back with some Gulfstream racing on this Friday afternoon. We are going to play a spot PK3 today for races 5-7; which look to be some large fields and competitive races. Let us see if we can catch a price horse and bring in some money. We hope you are playing along and if you have any insights on these races that we may not have touched on then please do not hesitate to reach out on Twitter (@PetesPicks1) or email (PetesPicksBlog@gmail.com). GOOD LUCK.

Petes' $0.50 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 2, 4, 9, 11

R6: 5, 6, 8

R7: 2, 6, 9, 11, 12

Cost: $30.00

Race 5:

Big Pete:

Davis seems to be settling in down south as he starts to get some mounts. (11) SHOW MAID also heads south to face this MCL50 group. If they both can work out a trip from the outside post, they should be right there. (9) LAKE PARIMA woke up when she moved to the turf. She’s the main speed to take them all the way. Most likely will have to hold off Show Maid and fav (2) PHILLY SPECIAL. I’ll use all three.

$3.00 Ex Box 2,9,11 Cost: $18.00

Little Pete:

We are going to beat the morning line favorite, (2) Philly Special, with (9) Lake Parima. Tyler aboard and second time on grass should be all this horse needs to get to the winner's circle. I also think that we should include (4) Maries Melody, who has run second at this distance and surface the last two times, and could be ready to take the leap as well. These will be my two plays for this race, and any additonal horses will come from Big Pete; just for the record.

$2.00 Ex 4,9 w/ 2,4,5,7,9 Cost: $16.00

Race 6:

Big Pete:

(6) SNIPER SHOT was a handful on his return from the layoff. His Apr 3rd bullet leads you to believe he got over his issues. This Shackleford should love the 1M today. I’ll look for (8) MIHOS to come late and offer a challenge to the fav. A nice 6F tightener to start his 4yr old campaign should have him ready to roll. (5) DO SHARE usually comes with a run late but this distance may not be to his liking.

$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex Box 5,6,8 Cost: $18.00

Little Pete:

(6) Sniper Shot looks much the best in this one and is ascending in the right direction. I am in between singling this horse or looking for a large price to hit the board. I am going to trust the Saez/Pletcher connection in this one and single this horse in my vertical plays. (3) Hy Riverside is an interesting play with the class drop and speed, but I prefer to leave my money on (6) Sniper Shot.

$3.00 Ex 6 w/ 1,3,5,7,8 Cost: $15.00

Race 7:

Big Pete:

(2) WILD ONE FOREVER trailed in his last and tried to make up ground last time in a short field. Look for this one to rebound and show some more speed with Gaff up and kick by late. (12) OHANSEE keeps improving posting a nice maiden score. Sprinting on the turf looks like his thing.

$7.00 WPS 2 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 2,12 w/ 2,6,12 Cost: $12.00

Little Pete:

I am thinking we close the PK3 ticket by spreading a bit here. (2) Wild One Forever has the speed to win this one wire to wire and the jockey, but it all comes down to how the race pans out. The cut back in distance for (6) Souper Shenanigan should make this horse a strong contender to take this field down. (9) NeverStopDreaming should improve on grass and will be a player. (11) Sovereign Warrior has raced well against better and should have plenty left in the tank for the stretch run. (12) Ohanzee has the hungry Dylan Davis aboard who rides for the paycheck and is always good to have in your play; also has a fast horse.

$1.00 Ex 2,6,12 w/ 2,6,9,11,12 Cost: $12.00
