We are back to handicapping the card at Gulfstream and are going to focus in on a PK4 play in race 2-5. Let us know if you agree with the play or have any hot tips @ petespicks1 on twitter or petespicksblog@gmail.com.

Petes' $0.50 Pick 4 Play:

R2: 1, 2, 3, 7

R3: 4, 6, 7

R4: 2, 3, 8

R5: 1, 3, 8, 9

Cost: $72.00

Race 2:

Big Pete:

I like the switch to turf for (1) GROUNDBREAKIN. Showed speed for his debut after posting some swift breezes in the AM. Out of an End Sweep, the turf will only help and the 5F seems perfect. We also need to include (3) SHARED LEGACY. This one cuts back to a sprint and has the speed to stay close. then let Paco find the wire like he has all week.

$5.00 WPS 1 Cost: $15.00

$3.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,3,7 Cost: $12.00

Little Pete:

This was a two horse race for me in the beginning leg of our pick 4; (4) Now Is and (7) Just For One Day. With (4) Now Is being scratched and Luis Saez moving to (2) Boss Onthe Horizon I will select him. (7) Just For One Day will look to get to the early lead and challenge someone to pass him; which will be a difficult task.

$2.00 Ex 2,7 w/ 2,3,7 Cost: $8.00

Race 3:

Big Pete:

(7) SMELL OF ROSES will have a big advantage as he should find himself all alone up front. Rosario does well in this position and will be tough to pass in the stretch. (4) POSITIVE PHIL moves to the Maker barn now and re-unites with Saez. Last time they got together, they posted their best number. Will be able to smell the roses late.

$5.00 WPS 7 Cost: $15.00

$3.00 Ex 4,7 w/ 4,6,7 Cost: $12.00

Little Pete:

This field looks to be a competitive one, so we will have to spread ourselves. My top selection for this race is (6) Noble Hope who will be stalking the lead throughout and then Paco will let this horse free down the stretch. I think that we should include (2) Lookin At Roses, (3) Direct Approach, and (4) Positive Phil; but let us see what the ticket will be. May have to make some tough decisions here...

$5.00 WPS 6 Cost: $15.00

Race 4:

Big Pete:

Not only is my nieces name (3) EMMA ROSE but Emma, the filly, should like the stretch out to 1M. This Bernardini will only get better the farther she goes. (8) PLEASANT ORB is the filly to beat. Her last run will be enough today, so with Irad signed on, I’m expecting similar results.I’ll key these two and let LP figure out the rest.

$5.00 WPS 3 Cost: $15.00

$3.00 Ex 3,8 w/ 2,3,8 Cost: $12.00

Little Pete:

It is going to be a tough ask to beat the favorite here, (8) Pleasant Orb, so I am thinking this could a single. I will throw in a couple horses to hit the board for an exacta, but feel pretty confident with the outside horse in this race.

$3.00 Ex 8 w/ 2,3,4,5 Cost: $12.00

Race 5:

Big Pete:

Both (8) KING OF RANCH and (9) HANDSOME LIL DEVIL exit the same race where King beat the Devil with lengths to spare. More of the same today for me. Paco will be close to the front and will make the first move for the wire. Bravo will need to weave the Devil through traffic and hope the King backs up. (3) FLASH PASS will close late for a piece. Last time Saez was on him, he ran big. Must use as well.

$3.00 Ex Box 3,8,9 Cost: $18.00

Little Pete:

(8) King of Ranch has speed and Paco aboard; which is a winning combination, so must be a play. The move to grass on (1) Holy Muchacho should be a great move and this horse will be charging late. (3) Flash Pass has the speed to be stalking the the pace and I expect Saez to have this horse in a great position to out duel the other horses.

$1.00 Ex Box 1,3,8 Cost: $12.00
