Churchill 5/31 Spot & Late Pick 3

We are looking to close out our weekend with a couple of pick 3 tickets at Churchill today. We are excited for this Wednesday and to have some NY running back in Belmont. One step closer to the running at the spa! I will be focusing in on races 5-7, and Big Pete will be focusing in on races 8-10. We will have vertical plays in each of these races as well. GOOD LUCK.

Race 5:

(6) New Hope Road is my must play in this one. This horse is exiting a race where she ran in to Envounte; who raced this previous Friday at this distance in an Allowance crowd and won that one. I expect (6) New Hope Road to break her maiden in this one. (3) Paris Lights has a red hot trainer in Bill Mott and should only improve second time out on dirt. I like Gaffalione aboard to put this horse right behind the lead and have plenty left to win this one on the stretch drive. I also like the two outside horses in (8) Glamour Girl and (9) Jeweled Princess, but I am going to take a small stand and only take one of them in this bunch. I know Brian Hernandez has been hot lately at Churchill, but I think (8) Glamour Girl is ascending in the right direction right now.

Race 6:

(11) Every Single Day is the only horse that has shown the ability to run, but this field is so wide open that I need to spread a bit. (9) Ready To Play has a bullet workout leading in to this one and if this horse can get the early lead I do not see a strong horse to challenge with some late speed. I am also going to give the daughter of Paynter a second chance out on dirt with (6) Cavatica. Workouts looking pretty good coming in to this one and I am hoping this horse shows this improvement immediately. I will throw in the firster (4) Annie'sGoldenGirl is the daughter of Goldencents and Bejarano is a capable jockey who could have the ace in the hole with this horse and this field.

Race 7:

The problem I have in this one is that I like six horse here. I am going to narrow it down to a four horse field for me play, and include the others in my vertical plays. Top selection for me is going to be (8) Cold Smoke who is coming in red hot and will look to wire the field, and if no one steps up this horse will gladly take this race. (10) Connection is going to be closing strongly in this one and has the ability to take this one late, so will be included. (1) Yamano Maker is going to be my third play here based on class and should wake up against this field. (9) Reelfoot will be my last play here. I am throwing out his last race and hoping this horse gets back to previous form. I am leaving off (6) Special Reserve and (11) NashVegas who I like, but not over the four stated.

Race 8:

We’ll spread out here but, I am trying to beat the likely favorite (2) WITEZ. 9F for a young filly is not easy, so I’ll focus on their breeding to carry them this far. (7) SECURE CONNECTION is a Data Link out of an Arch Mare that will get this distance nicely. She’s gotten better the farther she’s gone, so I’ll put her on top today. (1) CRYSTAL CLIFFS makes her US debut and gets Johnny V as the pilot. Motion is off to a decent start. (3) ELLA BRILLA has already gone this far and is a must use for me.

Race 9:

(2) ROYAL FLAG jumps off the page with her big number last time. We’ll need to use because she does have talent. I can’t leave out the Uncle Mo (4) MORE ROSES though. She’s moving up to the big leagues today but, she’s bred to be a good one. She’s been away for a year but Cox has been drilling her in the morning with some big workouts. If these two hook up, (7) SARACOSA will be the beneficiary. This gal usually makes her presence felt late in the game. If the speed backs up, Sara wins for fun.

Race 10:

I’ll take the runner exiting the Spanish Kingdom 3/21 race as that one returned yesterday to win again. (10) REIGNING SPIRIT had some trouble early before he leveled off to get within 5 lengths of the Re-Peter. (4) WIN D’ORO also had some trouble in his last, then finished fast in a fast time. He will be coming home late w/ (2) FREEDOM’S FLIGHT to spoil the party. I’ll use these three to close it out.
