We are going to focus this weekend on the cards down in Kentucky at Churchill Downs. We are eagerly anticipating the racing back in NY at Belmont next week, but will not let our head drift too far away from cashing some tickets this weekend. We had a nice Memorial Day weekend with the horses and are looking to start off this weekend with some extra $$. I will be keying in on races 5-7, and Big Pete will be keying in on races 8-10. We will each have some vertical plays in each of those races to hedge a bit the PK3 plays. If you have any other insights in to any of these races that we may not have touched upon, then please let us know on Twitter (@PetesPicks1) and we would love to discuss. GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's Late $0.50 Pick 3:

R10: 3, 5, 6, 14

Cost: $24.00

Race 5:

We are leading off the ticket with a single here in the (1) Heavens Whisper. This horse is taking a significant class drop, has the best pedigree, just had a bullet workout, and will navigate from the inside. The only other horse in here I think that could potentially seek to challenge this horse is (12) Crazy Sexy Munny; who besides having a great name is consistently hitting the board at this distance/class and will be there. Just think the inside horse will prove to be too much for the field and we can move on to the second leg.

$3.00 Ex 1 w/ 5,6,7,12 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

(4) Clear For Action should be the early speed in this one and challenge the others to keep up. I think this sets up a good group of horses to have a late run for this one. (1) Vettori Kin seems to prefer the grass from previous races and has the closing speed to take this one. (3) Logical Myth is going to be a strong horse late in this race, especially if the fractions are quick. (5) Zero Gravity is coming fresh off the claim for Mike Maker and I am going to include him for that reason; not really in love with the horse, but do not want to lose to him. (6) Exulting has Rosario on grass and this class drop will wake this horse up; this horse is my top selection. (7) Moon Over Montana is going to be my price play here as I think the surface change will allow this horse a more sustained run and could be in front down the stretch. (10) Firewater Jake likes to sit on the lead and going to include because why not just throw horses at the board at this point? (11) Honovi is getting entered in to this one and the outside post could benefit this horse who likes to close on the field with Johnnie V aboard.

$5.00 WPS 6 Cost: $15.00

Race 7:

I am going to close out with five horses in this one. (2) Jo Marie is going to be a major player here for me; I think the class drop is what this filly needs and will show off the speed here. (3) Punish consistently performs well at this distance and should have a repeat performance. (7) I'mTheKatsMeow is coming in fresh off a win at this distance and the workout coming in shows this horse might be hungry for another. (8) Princess Phone is cutting back in distance and should benefit from that with her speed. (10) Bonnet will be a tough beat here and looks to be ascending at this moment, so will include.

$1.00 2,3,10 w/ 2,3,7,8,10 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

I know times are changing but with two Pletcher runners entered, it’s odd not to see Johnny V up on one of them. He chooses the lightly raced (10) UNSHAKEN. This Tapit stretches out to a manageable 8.5F after running a swift sprint that he made look easy. (1) PORTOS will need to stay a little closer than he’s used to if he wants to catch Unshaken today. He’s got the right guy in the saddle to make that happen. Rosario will likely come late with (9) SPRAWL but his timing is usually way off or spot on. We’ll use incase the good Joel shows up today.

$7.00 WPS 10 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex Box 1,9,10 Cost: $18.00

Race 9:

Some fast Fillies and Mares and I like both 6yr olds to decide it. (8) GIRLS KNOW BEST will be in front turning for home. Surprisingly, there’s not a lot of quality speed to go with her. So she may be able to hold on today. Fav (2) MORTICIA will need to work out a path if she gets shuffled from the one hole. She’s coming off a mini vaca but her works say all systems go. If you’re looking for a smaller bankroll bet, she can be your single as she’s proven on this Churchill lawn. (4) JO JO AIR caught my eye as a possible upset. This Scat Daddy has a closing kick that makes her dangerous if the speed backs up.

$3.00 Ex 2,8 w/ 2,4,8,9 Cost: $18.00

Race 10:

(14) SMIRK draws in and Velazquez will try to stay under the radar here at 5:1 ML. If we get that price, the stimulus check may be in jeopardy. They look solid on the slight drop. (3) DRAW THE LINE moves back in to face MCL after a decent turf try. DeVaux is off to a good start and will looks to keep the momentum going. Stewart finally drops (5) EKATI’S VERVE to a manageable spot. Not surprised (6) BOSS LIFE liked the grass but, Romans moves him back to dirt. They may be experimenting here but he looks capable of hitting the board.

$7.00 WPS 14 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 5,14 w/ 3,5,6,14 Cost: $18.00
