Belmont at the Big A kicks off another week as the temperature has a fall feel to it. October hits the calender and a cool feel in the air. We have eight on this Thursday with 4 still on the grass. I will be condensing my plays down to just the numbers and attacking the early double starting in R2 (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 3-5). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 6-8). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 5.00 Early Double:
R1: 2
R2: 1, 6 Cost: $ 10.00
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R3: 4, 8, 9
R4: 5, 8
R5: 6, 7, 8 Cost: $ 18.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R6: 1, 6
R7: 4, 5, 6, 7
R8: 1, 5, 9, 11, 13 Cost: $ 40.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
No Ordinary Love and Aperitif ran okay when they met last time and both figure to get bet today. But I like the Twirling Candy filly, (8) TWIRLING LULU getting back on the turf. She has shown speed and then couldn't finish it. With L1 added, she may have had an issue with her breathing. Castellano reunites with her and they will likely try to control this right from the first jump.
I’ll use (4) No Ordinary Love and (9) Aperitif underneath for the exacta.
$ 7.00 WPS 8 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 4, 8, 9 Cost $ 18.00
We’ll also use (8) Twirling Lulu in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.
(5) Leftembehind or (8) Frizzante in the 4th.
$ 7.00 Daily Double 8 w/ 5, 8 Cost $ 14.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 6:
Rice leaves both runners in, which is not her thing. Both must be knocking down the barn door to get out onto the track. They both figure to take money, so I'll lean on just these two to get it done. She claimed and then shipped (6) PURLOIN in just to get a run in, IMO. She was wide also and gave up a lot of ground on the turn. They should be tough this time out. Her stablemate, (1) ADRIAN, got a jump on her last time and was able to outfinish her. The table will turn today as they both turn for home and duke it out for bragging rights back at the barn.
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00
Race 7:
(7) LET IT RIDE will try to kick off this late DD for Weaver as they look solid in the last two today. His last two speed figures top this group. There seems to be plenty of speed entered. Both (4) TYPHOON FURY and (5) SPOKEN BLUNTLY will vie early unless one can shake loose and wire them. Or they will at least help soften up Weaver's runner to set up for the stalker, (6) DEVIL IN DISGUISE. He will likely sit chilly behind the speeds and wait for Santana to let him loose. Rudy is off to a quick start, and I'm looking for it to continue.
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 6, 7 w/ 4, 5, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00
Race 8:
(1) SUNDAY BOY and (5) A LITTLE AT FIRST are stretching out, and the breeding suggests that shouldn't be a problem for either. We'll spread out in this finale as several look promising. (9) COACH RYAN will draw a lot of attention with his last run and the connections. A must-use. I like (13) JAXER a little bit drawing in too. He just missed when they shipped him to Delaware against open runners. Now they ship him back in against fellow NY Breds. (11) NEWLYN moves back to the turf as he got a lot of experience staying in the off-the-turf race last time. Guessing Weaver has him ready for a sharp run today.
