11 races to tackle at Belmont at the Big A. The G3 Winter Memories is the feature. I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 6-8). Big Pete will attack two "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 9-11); GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 5.00 Early Double:
R1: 4
R2: 3, 5 Cost: $ 10.00
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R6:
R7:
R8: Cost: $ 18.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R9: 3, 10
R10: 1, 3, 6, 7
R11: 1, 11, 13 Cost: $ 20.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
Spirit of NY is the one to beat as he has already won against the three inside runners. I'll use him, but Weaver sends out a maiden, (6) TWENTY ONE RED against stakes company, so he has a lot of confidence in this Tonalist. So do I. Prat returns to ride as he looks strong in both stakes races today, so that may be the reason he came back to NY today.
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost: $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Ex 6 w/ 5, 7 Cost: $ 14.00
We'll use (6) Twenty One Red in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.
(2) Squander or (3) Shilling look good in the 4th.
$ 7.00 Daily Double 6 w/ 2, 3 Cost $ 14.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
Pletcher calls on Frankie to work out a trip for (10) ANTIETAM from that outside post. There seems to be speed from several to his inside, so the pocket right behind the front runners should be wide open for him to find a spot. The turf didn't seem to bother him last time, but he did have some trouble at the start that may have cost him a length or two. He makes up for it here today.
$ 7.00 WPS 10 Cost: $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 3, 4, 10 Cost: $ 18.00
We'll use (10) Antietam in R5 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.
(1) Gordy, (2) Schoolyardsuperman or (4) Versailles Road in the 6th.
$ 5.00 Daily Double 4 w/ 1, 2, 4 Cost $ 15.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 9:
I couldn't get past (3) WORTHY CHARGE as he dominated maidens without breaking a sweat even after a bobbled start. He likely repeats here and is a possible single, but I'll use a saver in case he doesn't get away from the gate again. (10) CALDO CANDY faces open company here, but his speed figures stack up okay with the rest of this bunch. There is plenty of speed signed on, so that can do exactly what Candy needs: soften up the favorite and set it up for a stalker. He fits this role.
$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 3, 9, 10 Cost: $ 18.00
Race 10:
(7) HANGOVER HEAVEN will take some action as this lightly raced filly has done nothing wrong in two starts. Cuts back to sprinting where she dominated maidens first time out. (1) SINEAD has a race or two that puts her right there. Elliot is riding well and just needs a clean trip to make her dangerous late. (3) DISCO STAR could be a star as she returns to sprinting. Her Dad was the best at it in his day and she seems to have that closing kick of his. The sleeper is (6) TRALEE GIRL. She tries sprinting for the first time and Prat takes the call.
$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 3, 6 w/ 1, 3, 6, 7 Cost: $ 18.00
Race 11:
(1) SARATOGA SNOW draws the hedge and has speed. A perfect spot for this two-turn grass route. If she can settle on the lead early, she will be very difficult to run down. A major player. (11) ON A SUMMER DAY has been tackling MSW runners this year and now drops to the right level for her. Her speed figures match up well with this group. The same could be said about (13) JUST ONE MORE. She draws in off the AE's as both trainer and jockey are off to a good meet. With four runners scratched to her inside, she doesn't break that far out and can find the hedge before the first turn. That will be the key to winning or not.
