We have 11 races on this first Saturday of the Fall meet at Belmont at the Big A. I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 6-8). Big Pete will attack two "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 9-11); GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 5.00 Early Double:
R1: 3
R2: 1, 6 Cost: $ 10.00
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R6: 2, 4
R7: 4, 7, 12
R8: 1, 7, 10 Cost: $ 18.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R9: 5, 6, 8
R10: 1, 2, 5
R11: 5, 6, 11 Cost: $ 27.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
Speed is present in this small field so I'll lean on the true closer, (7) FRIZZANTE. to come and get them late for the win. Three should want the lead so Carmouche just needs to find a cozy spot on the rail and tip out turning for home. They have been entered looking for a spot and they found it.
$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost: $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Ex 7 w/ 3, 5 Cost: $ 14.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
I'll trust Cox as he switches (4) DOOMED to the dirt after 4 straight on the turf. He was facing better and now gets a breather in this 17k 1M. He has some speed but will likely stalk the leaders and wait for Franco to let him loose.
$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost: $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 3, 4, 7 Cost: $ 18.00
We'll use (4) Doomed in R5 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.
(1) Gordy, (2) Schoolyardsuperman or (4) Versailles Road in the 6th.
$ 5.00 Daily Double 4 w/ 1, 2, 4 Cost $ 15.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 9:
(8) CLASSICIST has improved each time out, and the longer, the better. Two turns are his thing, and he meets an easy field for the first time against winners. A must-use for me. (6) TUSCAN GOLD has burned a lot of cash but has faced decent three-year-olds last year. He seems to be getting better with every race. I'll try to beat them both with (5) VALENTINIAN in here. The 9F is probably his limit, and he may need the speeds to back up a little. Santana is riding well, and that should be the difference today.
$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost: $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 5, 6, 8 Cost: $ 18.00
Race 10:
(2) LOVE APPEALS feels like a single, IMO, but we'll include a speed and a closer in case she doesn't handle the trip from Jersey. If she breaks smartly, she will be tough to beat. (1) LUNA LOUSKA has been running away from her competition. If she can handle the extra furlong, she will be dangerous. (5) MRS. GAMBOLINI usually but had to change tactics last time because of the tardy start. She's done nothing wrong this year and would be no surprise.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost: $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 2, 5 Cost: $ 18.00
Race 11:
(11) UNION EXPRESS draws way outside and will need to overcome that first. He's been competitive on the grass lately, so if he can find the hedge around the turns, he could be a danger late. The two logical ones in here will be tough if they run their race. (6) SANDERSON showed a little speed while stalking against slightly better. They drop him a little, and he is the one to beat in here. (5) HEDGE THE RISK has a closing kick as Sharp claimed him two back and kept him in on the dirt when it came off the turf. He's back on the grass where he belongs and should be right there at the end.
