Saturday racing at BAQ and we have the 10 race card covered. We are looking to cover them all and . I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 5-7). Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
Clement will pass the torch from Plum Ali to (4) MESSIDOR today. Plum has lost a little from last year and now Messidor appears to be on thie rise. Her last speed figure tops this group and the 1M fits her to a T.
I’ll use her with (2) Plum Ali and (3) Evvie Jets underneath
$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Ex 4 w/ 2, 3 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also use (4) Messidor in R3 and try to cash a DAILY DOUBLE play.
We’ll use (3) Juliana’s Rose and (4) Bustin Bullet in the 4th.
$ 7.00 Double 4 w/ 3, 4 Cost $ 14.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
(9) DEE’S SPEEDSTRE drops and picks up Irad. That’s enough for me to include. The other three I’ll include exits the same race. (4) SARATOGA BANKER didn’t get away sharply and then made a run late. The addition of Castellano moves this guy up. I landed (10) FAST STUDY. He ran ok early and then seemed to lose interest around the turn dropping to last. Then he nonchalantly put in a late run to get within three lengths. I’m guessing he learned a lot in those few furlongs and will put it all together today. Jose comes in for the ride. (5) TESTA DURA broke awkwardly and then put in a nice run after that. Better break, better result today.
$ 7.00 WPS 10 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 4, 10 w/ 4, 5, 9, 10 Cost $ 18.00
Race 9:
Brown’s maiden winner, (7) INTERNAL CAPITAL, is the lukewarm favorite which may say a lot about the rest of the field. He beat a weak field at Monmouth but gets Prat for this. I’ll include (6) EMBOITE as he couldn’t handle Wit two back or the distance last time. The 1M is all he wants. He’ll get the first jump on the closers and try to hold on. Pletcher has two in here for a reason. He’ll use his maiden winner, Steady On, as a rabbit for his emerging star (3) IMPULSIVENESS. The distance was an issue last time so the cut back will make all the difference. McCarthy is riding well so he’ll sit chilly while the stable mate gives him a target to track.
(4) DANZIGWITHTHESTARS has come alive this summer and continues to run well. He’ll follow Impulsiveness and try to run him down late.
$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 3, 6 w/ 3, 4, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00
Race 10:
There is speed up front so I’ll focus on the stalkers and closers. At the top of that list
(1) GHOST GIANT cuts back to a sprint and picks up stable rider. Rice is looking for a quick return on her investment after the claim and doesn’t need to change much as this 7yr old does well against her fellow NY Breds. (3) DEEP COVER looked like a winner when she tipped out through the stretch but couldn’t quite catch Phantom Smoke. The extra distance will help today. I want the filly who finished right behind her, (8) YARROW is in great form and was closing in last time, then flatten out. Franco returns after a test drive and will likely make his move sooner than last time. The other clement will make sure the pace is hot to set this gal up. (4) NEURO rarely wins but has put together back to back races that would make him tough today. Castellano was on both of those races so there might be something there.
