Belmont at the Big A: Monday 5/26 Plays - Pete's Picks

Nine races at Belmont at the Big A with no feature. They pack it up after today and head North for a Spa treatment. I will be condensing my plays down to just the numbers and attacking the early double starting in R2 (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 4-6). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 7-9). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R7: 2, 3, 6
R8: 4, 6, 12
R9: 2, 7, 8, 10 Cost: $ 36.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
Observer has back-to-back place finishes and looks solid again. I'll use with Khali's Storm as well, as she normally collects checks but is just late for the picture. I'll try to beat them both with (8) MIDNIGHT GLIMMER. She gets a break in the weights and comes back with L1, which they gave her last time. It seemed to help as she was not far from a next-out maiden winner. The outside post fits her stalking style and she should come running late.
I’ll use (5) Khali's Storm and (7) Observer underneath for the exacta.

We’ll also use (8) Midnight Glimmer in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
(2) SAVE US MELANIA has beaten several in here already and has the speed to do it again. (3) SMOKIN' HOT KITTY won't let her get too far away and may even use an aggressive tactic and try to get to the lead early. That's how I'll play it and look for (6) OUR LIBERTY BELLE to come and get both. Potts claimed her two back and she came back next out to run her best race. If she can find that one more time, she'll be right there late.

Race 8:
(12) BOSUN is the one to beat. Her last race puts her in the money. The post may hurt as she doesn't have the speed to tuck in somewhere, so she may get a wide trip or be shuffled. I'll look for two with speed to dictate this race. (6) NOT FOR HIRE has some speed, and Weaver is heating up. She may have bled last time as L1 is added today. She'll sit right behind (4) DANCING BEAR and tip out turning for home. Bear also adds L1, and they will need to reel this one in.

Race 9:
(2) MAJORCA is from Pletcher and (8) RIGHT TO WIN is from Brown. This is not their strong point, dropping their horses in claiming races. They are for sale, and there usually is a reason. I'll use them defensively and try to beat them. (7) NILROC is interesting as he tries turf again. He has Exchange Rate underneath, and that's enough for me. He has a few speed figures that match up well if he translates to the grass. (10) MY MAN MAGOO drops sharply for Rudy and a hot rider. The move back to the turf with L1 now should help this Munnings get this two-turn finale.
