We have a nice ten race card today at Belmont which is headlined by the Grade 2 Vosburgh in the 9th. I can't speak for Big Pete, but I woke up feeling pretty good about the plays today. We are going to remain consistent in our plays and key in on a pair of pick 3 plays that cover the PK6 sequence. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race that we see as a value play. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notification of new blog posts and weekly emails. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
We are all aboard the Noda train and going to hammer the (2) Control Group in race 1. I will be playing a WPS on the horse and play with an exacta in this short field. I also think that race 2 has some competitive horses in it that I will be playing a double with.
$5.00 WPS 2 Cost: $15.00
$3.00 Ex 2 w/ 1,3,4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 DOUBLE 2 w/ 4,6,8,9,10 Cost: $10.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 7:
Hoping Lil Pete includes (10) T LOVES A FIGHT in his mix as this guy has finally got himself back in form. He ran into two prime time players entered in the Vosburgh today and didn’t disappoint. Enough has been said about what Noda is doing right now so if we get the 9/2 ML on “T”, the mortgage may be in jeopardy.
$10.00 WPS 10 Cost: $30.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
Starting off the first leg with a relatively "experienced" group of maidens in here (At least most have a start under their belt). I landed on four horses in here after the scratch of (8) Vodka Lemonade. My top selection is going to be (9) I'm Blaming You. This horse had a tough break first time out and still ran a big race in my opinion. I think with the second start and stretching out will be a winning one and make this horse a strong player come stretch time. (3) Masked Marauder is another horse that I like in here even though he is switching surfaces to grass. I think this horse has a good break from the gate and be able to dictate his spot throughout; which should lead to an energized finish. (7) Wicked Easy is exiting a race that I think was a bit better than others in here and was bumped from the start. I think with the combination of the connections, Rosario/Clement, and the longer distance will allow this colt to run a much better race. My last play is going to be a firster in (4) Breadman who has consistently been training well and I think will be ready to win first time out. I am hoping we can get this horse at a price. I am going to try and beat the horses exiting the Saratoga race on 8/13/2020, as I do not think that race will translate future winners (IMO).
$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 3,9 w/ 3,4,7,9 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 4,7 w/ 3,4,7,9 Cost: $6.00
Race 6:
Again I am landing on four horses in here that I think have the best chance of winning this one. My top selection is going to be (9) Hot Button who I am anticipating a big jump forward second time out and a firm track will make a big difference. (7) ChecksandBalances is fresh off the claim for Linda Rice from the Chad Brown barn and dropped in to another claiming race. I know this horse has the ability to get it done at this level, so getting a play based off of that. (2) Valletta is my off the pace closer in here that I think will be able to save ground throughout and have a strong stretch drive. My last play is going to be (6) Hard Won who is in good form leading in to this one and I think Dylan will be aggressive enough early to have this horse in play throughout the race.
$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 6,9 w/ 2,6,7,9 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 2,7 w/ 2,6,7,9 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
I think this race is going to be the most competitive one of the legs and excited to watch this one. My top play is going to be (7) Mount Travers who will have revenge on the brain against PETE. I think this horse should be getting an aggressive ride from Jose Ortiz and have enough left to beat this competitive field. (9) Pete's Play Call is in great form right now and is looking to make it three in a row. I will not try and beat myself here and include. (10) T Loves a Fight is a horse that I loved in this spot before Big Pete said anything, which makes me reconsider (I kid). I think this horse will be able to sit right off the pace setter and have a convincing stretch drive. My last play is going to be (5) Hidden Scroll who is switching back to dirt and will be able to show off the speed. Johnnie V will not mess around in this one and have the field try and catch.
$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 5,7 w/ 5,7,9,10 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 9,10 w/ 5,7,9,10 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
(4) BLOWOUT now has a race and two strong workouts under her belt this year for this and looks primed for a big performance. Just missed last time after being since Oct 19’ and gets a course that is kind to speed right now. Both her stable mates will be her main danger. (7) NOOR SAHARA just missed against (1) VIADERA last time and will look to turn the table today. Both closed well into a slow boggy turf which will set them up on this firm Belmont grass today. We’ll just use Brown to start off this late Pk3.
$7.00 WPS 4 Cost $21.00
$3.00 Ex Box 1,4,7 Cost $12.00
Race 9:
Seems as though (2) FUNNY GUY came out of the G1 in good shape as he put in a laugher of a workout six days ago. He’ll sit pretty behind a few speeds here and wait for Rosario’s punch line. (5) FIRENZE FIRE gets his Big Sandy surface that he likes and should be getting to them late in the game. His bullet work last week should have him on his toes again for this. (1) TRUE TIMBER hasn’t won in awhile but has the rail and speed. I’ll use underneath. (6) ENGAGE is the wild card as we haven’t seen him since the Breeder’s Cup. Asmussen keeps sending out sprinters this year so we’ll need to include.
$7.00 WPS 2 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 2,6 w/ 1,2,5,6 Cost: $18.00
Race 10:
This race comes down to four runners for me. I like the two that exit the June 14th Belmont race that QuietOutEast won. He returned to win here earlier this week. (3) SHOOTIN THE BREEZE is one of them. He gets Davis who is riding well. This Hard Spun will like the wide turns vs the sharp ones at the Spa. (2) ALBIE was a head back of Shootin that day but, I’m not sold that he likes going longer. We’ll use underneath. (11) BARLEEWON is very interesting as well as he faces open company today but has speed to control this one if Johnny V can get to the front early. Donk scratches Catorat so that allows his “other” (14) BEACHSIDE to draw in. That’s where I landed. He finally moved to the turf where he belongs. Used a sprint for a workout, then stretched out to his preferred distance and ran on to finish just behind Shootin. This gelding gathers momentum around the turns and gallops through the stretch today AND, he gets Franco. I don’t know if we’ll get the 12:1 ML, but if we’re close, I’M ALL IN.
