We started the meet off well and are looking to carry the momentum throughout the weekend. We are going to remain consistent and focus on taking down a pair of pick 3 plays that cover the PK6 sequence; if you are feeling dangerous you can play the PK6. I will be covering races 5-7, while Big Pete will be focusing in on races 8-10. We are headlined today by the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational in the 5th race (I will be covering). We also will be including our "Play of the Day" on a race we think we can take down. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notification of new blog posts and weekly blogs. GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 1:

Sometimes you have to ride the hot hand and the Noda team has been red hot. (1) Zonic has run big beyer speeds in his last two races at 6 and 6 1/2 furlongs respectively, which to me shows great recent form. I think this horse will be able to sit behind as he likes to do and be the strongest late at this 7 furlongs race on dirt. I also like that there are others in this bunch that will have money thrown at them, so will be able to get some pretty good odds on him.

$5.00 WPS 1 Cost: $15.00

$4.00 Ex 1 w/ 3,5,6 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 4:

The trainer is also the owner of (3) FLYING FINISH. His training track is MTH and this guy has been doing a lot of traveling. It feels like they are selling him to cut expenses. His Big Sandy maiden win would crush these today. My guess is they have him cranked and ready today for a “Flying Finish”. He wasn’t beating that salty group he faced last time and now drops to a much easier spot. Look for Jr to sit chilly and pick up the speeds late.

$10.00 WPS 3 Cost: $30.00

I’ll use him in an exacta with 2, 6 & 8

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

We have a five horse field in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational and I landed on three of them. I expect an early pace battle in this 1 1/4 mile race on turf between the inside and outside horses. (1) Setting the Mood should be seeking the lead like last time out and has the aggressive rider aboard. I also think this will be the plan for (5) Antoinette who will be instructed by Johnnie V to find the lead early. I landed on only (5) Antoinette as my pace play in case these two horses run too far away from the other three. (2) Magic Attitude is making her states debut and we can anticipate a big run on grass from this filly, so will include but do not love. Who I do love in here is the (4) Neige Blanche who I think we will get at a relative price here who will have some pace to run in to. I think Lezcano will be able to let this horse pick her spot early and save ground throughout, which then leads to a convincing stretch drive to compete for this one.

$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 2,4,5 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

This is going to be a competitive maiden special weight race, which is why I am going to go with four horses here. My top selection is going to be (1A) Likeable. This horse had a very nice showing first time out and I always like horses with Frosted lineage stretching out. I think this horse will be right off the lead and be able to sit behind some early pace and have a strong stretch drive. (2) Repo Rocks is a horse that has previous experience that was pretty good. I think that the stretch out will allow this horse to find his footing a bit better and be able to compete for this one. (3) Rational Choice has the Chad Brown and Klaravich Stables connection, which seems to lead to the horse getting in the winner's circle. I will not try and beat this horse first time out and will get a play on my ticket. My last play will be (6) Engrave who ran a big beyer speed first time out at 6 1/2 furlongs and will improve for the Chad Brown barn second time out. I do not think that this horse is the 1/1 favorite in here, but nonetheless will be on my ticket.

$3.00 WPS 1A Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 1,2 w/ 1,2,3,6 Cost: $12.00

$1.00 Ex 3,6 w/ 1,2,3,6 Cost: $6.00

Race 7:

To close the ticket I am going to go with three horses in here. My top pick is going to be the (1) Frankel At Ascot who had an unfortunate situation last time out where she jumped the fence after leading most of it. I think this horse will be better poised in this one and Dylan Davis is producing winners on the course. I think this horse will not be 6/1 odds come post time. (6) Amortization has the same Brown/Klaravich stables we discussed in Race 6 and look to have a strong contender in here. Again, I will not try and beat and have this horse on the closing leg. My last play is going to be (9) Island Treasure who has been consistently training well and I think that this horse will be forwardly placed from the outside post. I think that will allow this horse to run on coming around the turn and have a chance to win first time asking.

$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 1,6,9 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

(1) FLASHPACKINBARBIE will be the main attraction in this NW1X NY Bred sprint. She’s likely to sit just behind the speeds and tip out for the stretch drive. A short price but, a must use on our ticket. I’ll try to beat her with (3) STRETCHTHESTORY. She was claimed two back and then didn’t take to the slop. Her Dec 5th race jumps off the page when she faced Antoinette and held her own. She took some time off and now looks primed for a good effort. The wild card in here is the closer (2) WAILIN JOSIE. She’s had many chances at this level but finally gets a much needed jockey change. Her race two back would be good enough here if BARBIE hooks up with Ken and doesn’t show up.

$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,2,3,6 Cost: $18.00

Race 9:

I’ll spread out here in this very competitive 7F turf event, I have to give (4) OPT the nod. He ran into Rinaldi twice holding his own who would be odds on here. Now he cuts back in distance and sports a decent bullet 4 days ago. Can’t pass on the 8:1 ML. (8) FAST GETAWAY faced open company all three starts at the Spa, now moves back in against fellow NY Breds. A Re-Pete of his June 25th Belmont runs gets it done today. Maker stole (12) SHIRAZ two back and gave (7) MAXWELL ESQUIRE a run for his money. Both will be coming home strong through the stretch. MAXWELL probably wins his last race with a better trip. He looks dangerous again. (5) DR SHANE probably needed his last after some time off. He’s run big on occasion and usually shows up when facing his fellow NY Breds.

$7.00 WPS 4 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 4,7 w/ 4,7,8,12 Cost: $18.00

Race 10:

(4) FAST GORDON is tricky here. Rice pulls out the rug from underneath him and drops sharply. That’s not a good sign but she switches to stable rider which is a good sign. Playing defensively and will include. The two to worry about late are (3) YOUSAIDHELLO and (10) DISCIPLANARIAN. Both exit the same race with similar runs . I prefer HELLO more with the added distance and more importantly, the addition of Saez. (11) STARSHIP EMPIRE is a little interesting. I like the Eltish turf influence from the Mare and he tries state breds for the first time.

$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 3,11 w/ 3,4,10,11 Cost: $18.00
