Happy opening day at Belmont! We FINALLY have live racing back in NY. The Saratoga meet is always the crown jewel of our summer, but we have plenty of great races to run at Belmont in this fall meet. We are going to look to attack a pair of PK3 plays that cover the PK6 sequence. I will be focusing in on races 5-7, while Big Pete will be focusing in on races 8-10. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we think we can take advantage of in a race. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive notification of new blog posts and weekly emails. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 2, 4, 8

R6: 1, 3, 5, 7

R7: 1, 2

Cost: $24.00

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

R8: 1, 3, 6, 7

R9: 5, 8

R10: 1, 3, 7, 9, 10

Cost: $40.00

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 7:

I think (2) Big Wonder is worth taking a chance on in vertical and horizontal plays. I think we can make some money on an exacta and playing a double with Big Pete's plays for Race 8. Which is the reason why I will be doing so!

$5.00 WP 2 Cost: $10.00

$4.00 Ex 2 w/ 1,7,8 Cost: $12.00

$2.00 Double 2 w/ 1,3,6,7 Cost: $8.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 2:

An odd bunch of claimers get together here in Race 2. Three in here look like they want the lead, so my main focus is the lone NY Bred to run them down. (9) ZIPALONG seemed to enjoy the Belmont lawn two back as he easily beat his rivals that day. Then he posted solid efforts at the Spa against much better than he faces today. Out of a City Zip mare, this guy will love the one turn mile on the turf today.

$10.00 WPS 9 Cost: $30.00

I’ll use him with 1, 2 & 3 in an exacta as well

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

I am going to start off this ticket by trying to beat the morning line favorite with three others. (6) Belleza looks to me like the stretch out will not benefit her and although she may be the class, I have not seen anything that screams she wants to win. (4) Lottie's Mizzion is going to be my top selection in here as I think she will be able to close strongly on a quicker pace than in previous races. I think Manny Franco will have this filly right behind the early pace and clear the field from the outside down the stretch. I also will include (2) Cross Keys with the connections of Saez/Jeremiah Englehart. This horse is fresh off the claim and will be trying this class level again after a compromised trip last time out from the gate. The bullet workout leading in makes me think this horse will not have an issue early and will be getting a great ride; winning combination. My last play will be (8) Madam Deputy. This horse will improve third time out and looks to prefer the firm surface. I think that this horse will be able to avoid the traffic by being on the outside and Rudy Rodriguez always has horses improving the longer they stay in his barn, especially three year olds.

$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex Box 2,4,8 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

The two year olds are running in this maiden special weight and experience does matter. For that reason, I will be including the morning line favorite, (7) Scarlett Sky. This horse showed a lot of ability first time out and we should expect an even better one with his second career start. With that said, I really do not feel comfortable not spreading out a bit. (3) Honorable has previous experience on a muddy main track and now moving to grass, which usually is a negative for me. But with the connections being Saez/Pletcher I just cannot leave this horse off my ticket. I will then look for two firsters to run a big race in here. (1) Space Launch looks bred to run this mile distance on grass and should have the closing speed needed to take this one. My last play is the (5) Bunker Hill who could get overlooked on the tote board here. Dylan Davis is poised to have a great meet at Belmont and last time out on a Barclay Tagg horse firster he won on a price. This could be becoming a trend and this horse should be live in here.

$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00

$1.00 Ex 1,5,7 w/ 1,3,5,7 Cost: $9.00

Race 7:

I really like (2) Big Wonder in this spot and would consider singling this horse. This horse ran a big race last time out in allowance company and now being dropped back to a claiming field. This horse looks great on paper and the horse to beat. With that being said, I will be including the horse to his inside (1) ThreePoinNineNine. I think this horse will shoot to the front and try and wire this field. If the race breaks down behind him, then this horse has the ability to wire the field.

$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00

$5.00 Ex 2 w/ 1 Cost: $5.00

$2.00 Ex 1,2 w/ 1,2,7,8 Cost: $12.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

(6) FIERCE LADY returns to Big Sandy where she seems to excel. First a big maiden score, then a decent 2nd against much better. Now Rudy brings in Saez to close the deal. She’ll stalk and gather momentum through the stretch. (3) GOOD CREDENCE has been improving each race this year and the 6.5F should be perfect. Look for Jr to get aggressive entering the turn and try to bottom out the field. (1) LETMETAKETHISCALL will likely go from the rail and will try to catch them off guard. If she can get to the stretch without any pressure, she’s capable of holding on. I’m interested in (7) PRAIRIE FIRE coming late to the party as if any speed duel develops, this one can run them all down.

$7.00 WPS 6 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 6,7 w/ 1,3,6,7 Cost: $18.00

Race 9:

Mott sends out (5) EYE OF A SOLDIER after two solid efforts at the Spa. Jr returns and is looking for the third time to be the charm. They will be low odds but, a major player. Exiting the same last race as the Soldier is (8) LASHARA. This Pharoah closed nicely to get 2nd and looks like the only other one that I want. I’ll put these two on top and look for (3) KELLEYCANRUN to get in gear late and sneak into the exacta.

$3.00 Ex 5,8 w/ 2,3,5,8 Cost: $18.00

Race 10:

We’ll spread out here in this unpredictable NYS MCL event. (7) SELFMADE has two 2nd’s in both off his turf tries. He was a clear second to Klickitat, who returned next out to win again. A must use for me. (3) K K ICHIKAWA has two decent turf attempts and will be a price. Lezcano may try to get to the lead early as there is not a lot of speed signed on. (10) BRICCO will take lots of action as he just missed in both of his Spa tries. Another must use. Both (1) NOBLE MISCHIEF and (9) JUSTINTIMEFORWINE are dropping to this MCL level and that usually is enough to make them more competitive.

$3.00 Ex 7,10 w/ 3,7,9,10 Cost: $18.00
