After a quick reset, I am back and ready to contribute. Big Pete has been on some roll with hitting the last four tickets that he has put out. We are going to look to carry that momentum in to today's card at Belmont. We are going to focus on a pair of pick 3 plays for races 5-10. I will be keying in on races 5-7, and Big Pete will have the late pick 3 play with races 8-10. We will also have vertical action in each of these races as well. Make sure to subscribe to the mailing list to receive notification of new blog entries and weekly blog emails. GOOD LUCK.

Race 5:
There are many more horses in here that I do not think have a chance than there are that I think have a chance. This means I am going to spread a bit in the first leg of this unproven bunch. I like two horses exiting the same race last time out in (3) Kid Chocolate and (9) Long Island City. (3) Kid Chocolate gets Manny aboard for a second time and showed enough last time out as a bomb on the board to get a play from me. (9) Long Island City should see improvement second time out on grass and I expect a forwardly place race from this horse in this one. (7) Daring Disguise has closed on the best beyer speeds in this race and should have a great set up from Saez to make this horse a strong play here late. Jeremiah Englehart has had a pretty good meet so far and he is shipping in a horse that was running in Canada. I will give (12) Breed's Hill a chance here. My last play is going to be a firster in (11) AnyoneElseButYou who had a bullet workout coming in to this one and the outside draw should allow this horse to get a good position from the break. Reylu has been aggressive and may have a horse that will respond well first time out from the A.P. Indy lineage.
$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 3,7,9 w/ 3,7,9,11,12 Cost: $12.00
Race 6:
I was debating between singling (2) Fevola in this one or to spread out, and I just think this race will be a little more competitive then I would like so I will spread with two more horses. (7) Coach Villa has two great workouts leading in to this one and switching to Irad aboard. I think this horse will jet out from the gate to stalk the lead behind (6) Riken and have a late charge to decide who wins this one. My last play will be (1) Mister Bobby who is getting a weaker field and should have enough left in the tank late to also have a say in here. I will include (6) Riken and (5) Tapizearance in the exacta underneath, but prefer the other three stated.
$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 1,2,7 w/ 1,2,5,6,7 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
There has been a lot of chalk this weekend and I think this race is won by one of the top three morning selections. My top pick is going to be the (9) Chaleur who is getting back to the mile distance and a firm track in NY and I think that makes a huge difference. Johnny V and Bill Mott are red hot after the two stakes wins together yesterday, that I think the momentum carries in to today. (6) Stone Tornado has the connections and second time out after the long layoff, so I expect this horse to run like the favorite she will be at post time. (5) Madita could be upset with Irad not choosing to hop aboard this time out, and a repeat performance from last time will make this horse a tough beat.
$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 5,6,9 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
(8) TALE OF THE UNION didn’t show up last time. Maybe it was the long trip, the slop or the extra furlong. We’ll never know. Today should be a different story. Two solid breezes in the AM indicates he is ready to take down his NY Bred competition. (7) QUICKFLASH out ran Tale last time and will try to do it again. He needs to clear and settle to have a chance here. I’m guessing he won’t be allowed to do it today. (2) BIG THICKET rewarded Rudy first time off the claim but, steps up slightly to face Allowance company. (6) KID D’ORO is a little interesting as he returns to sprinting and wasn’t far from Quickflash back in Feb.
$3.00 Ex 6,8 w/ 2,6,7,8 Cost: $18.00
Race 9:
I’ll trust Brown has his two runners ready to go in this 7F sprint. Irad most likely had 1st dibs on who he wanted so I’ll lean more on (2) DELAWARE. He faced a salty group of sprinters in his US debut. Now L1 is added and has a couple of fast drills in the AM. (7) FRONT RUN THE FED is the other who cuts back to the preferred 7F distance. Both appear to be a must use. (6) MAJESTIC DUNHILL exits the same race as Delaware. He’s been keeping good company and the turf may have moved him up. He’s the one I’ll key on today. (3) TELEKINESIS will try to bottom them out as Castellano’s instructions will be go and try to hang on.
$7.00 WPS 6 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 2,6 w/ 2,3,6,7 Cost: $18.00
Race 10:
A very competitive maiden state breds to finish off the day. I think you can make an argument on every one in the race. (6) MORE LIKE IT is where I’ll start. Jose had to touch the brakes a few times and yet they managed to get within 2 lengths of winning. We’ll give them another shot here. (2) BOOM BOOM KABOOM gets Manny and Weaver is doing well right now. I’m taking a shot with (4) SMITE. He moves back in with state breds and cuts back to 6F. He also re-unites with Saez as they will try to duplicate their Spa debut which should be enough to handle these. There’s plenty of speed to soften up likely fav Striking Causeway so we’ll pass on him. Firster (3) EVERYMINUTE has some fast works and attracts Castellano. I’ll include.
