We are sticking to our guns with the pick 3 plays today at Belmont; which is headlined by the Gold Fever in the 9th. It looks like we have some relatively crowded fields and that could mean some nice payouts if we navigate this correctly. I will be focusing in on races 5-7, while Big Pete will be focusing on races 8-10. Some may say that I have the tougher races to handicap and what I would tell them is that they are absolutely correct; but that is show bizz. There is some rain expected so make sure to keep an eye of any late scratches and surface switches. Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
We are officially off the turf at Belmont, so will have to look for late scratches leading in to this one. This switch has significantly changed how I felt about (10) Bossy Bride. I think this horse from the outside post will be a tough beat in here and borderline single here for me. I loved (6) Kitten By The Sea in this one on grass, but unsure if this horse will remain in the field. This horse had five months in the Pletcher barn and has been training well, and the last time out she beat Music of Life; who came next time out at this distance and beat Bean Counter convincingly. Bean Counter had already beaten the Linda Rice horse, (9) Princess Fawzia, which will be my reason for leaving off the ticket. I like the post draw for (1) Sterling Beauty who will be able to save ground around the turn and have enough in the tank at this level to make it interesting. Last play will be (3) Leeway if she stays in this one. This horse possesses the speed to be a sneaky winner here. If she is allowed to set the early fractions without pressure, then this horse could keep on running to the winner's circle.
$2.00 Ex Box 1,3,6,10 Cost: $24.00
Race 6:
(10) Jewel of Arabia is ready to graduate and all signs point to this being the race she does. I was leaning a single here, but going to include the two sisters in here. (6) Blitchton Lady has some impressive bullet workouts leading in to this race and this will be her second career start; which should show the improvement from the gate she needs. (7) Vivazano was the speed in (10) Jewel of Arabia's last race where she was caught, but with the wet track that is a tougher ask and going to include in case the field can't catch her.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 6,7,10 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
(6) Gracetown seems to only come out when it rains and with the class drop and distance relief this horse's late speed could get her to the wire first. If (9) Merlins Muse and (10) Noble Jewel run in this one, then they will be a play for me as they possess the speed to get to the early lead and at this level it would be a big ask for a closer to catch them.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 6,9,10 Cost: $12.00

Race 8:
It appears most of these once classy NYBreds have started to fade slightly. There are two in here that may still have some life in them as they found the right field today. The entry look tough in this spot. (1A) I LOVE JAXSON has tried open company and now comes back to State breds. He will be a strong contender. His barn mate (1) TWISTED TOM has some back class that would dominate these but, he’s not the same gelding. He is however, rounding into form as he didn’t disappoint against the classy Sea Foam last time. The other one I like is also coming out of the Sea Foam race. (6) DURKIN’S CALL has been stuck in this NW2X company for a while. Shown some life in his last race and Mott has been hot lately. Now he turns to Jose on the late jock change to give him a boost. May get decent odds. I’m expecting a big run from him today.
$7.00 WPS 6 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 1,6 w/ 1,6,7,10 Cost: $18.00
Race 9:
(6) LONG WEEKEND will be difficult to beat in this Gold Fever. He’s been improving each race this year and Amoss is all business with the addition of Jose. I won’t try to beat him here as he looks the part of a 1-2 ML favorite. I’ll try to get two closers underneath to add some value. (5) WONDERWHERECRAIGIS will be in mid pack watching all the other speeds keep up with Long Weekend. He’ll bide his time and pick up the tired horses late in the game. (7) LIAM’S PRIDEwill do the same and try to close into the exacta.
$10.00 Ex 6 w/ 5,7 Cost: $20.00
Race 10:
With the switch to dirt, (3) TINY MAGOO may have the advantage now. She showed speed in her debut and has potential to take them all the way if Davis can catch a breather down the backstretch. I will look for (12) BIG RED GIRL to come charging late like she did in her last race. Sluggish start put her in the back early, then came running late. A clean trip will put her right there. I like (13) FUSI drawing in. She made a nice return last Month. She’s been battling Abby Normal all last year and Abby returned to break her maiden last week. Maybe she breaks through today as well.
