Belmont 6/6 Pick 3 Plays

We have a four stake race day on the first Saturday back to racing in NY. We are going to stay consistent and have a pair of pick 3 plays, as well as some vertical action in each of these. I will be focusing in on races 6-8, and Big Pete will be focusing in on races 9-11. Race 6:

Chad Brown really wants to win this race with four entries in this nine horse field. I landed on two of his horses and two others for a bit of coverage in this competitive field. I am anticipating (9) Tribhuvan to shoot out of the gate and set the early time fractions to open this race up to the closers. (5) Instilled Regard is the first mount Irad will have on the day, and he has a strong horse here. We all know what he does when he gets a strong contender in a race; he wins. This horse has the speed to stay up with the lead and will have a say on who wins this one. (7) Devamani is the other Chad Brown horse I will include, as this horse also has shown great form to sustain a distanced run and then close strongly on the field. (6) Synchrony has some great workouts leading in to this race and will not be afraid of the field. This horse will be charging late as well. (8) Social Paranoia will be my last play here, as this horse also possesses a ton of late speed and should be a factor late. I do like others in this race, like the Mike Maker horses and (2) Gucci Factor, but I prefer the other four and think one of them will get it done.

Race 7:

As much as I would love to single (9) Code of Honor here, I am going to throw in both of Chad Brown's horses. (2) Monongahela will get plenty of speed in this one and this horse is better with fast early fractions. I think this horse will be a strong play here. (4) Payne is one of my personal favorite horses at the moment. A bullet workout leading in to this one and I think he can make it four wins in a row! (9) Code of Honor is a must play here with the class drop to this grade 3 and will be a handful in this one, especially with a red hot Johnnie V aboard.

Race 8:

(12) Significant Form looks to be in good form and is a must play here, but I hate leaving a single to close the ticket. (5) NewspaperofRecord is a must play here to get to the early lead and not look back; Irad on grass is a must play for me. My last play here will go off at a bit of a price in (6) Jakarta who will also seek the early lead and is ascending at this moment and I think can pull off the upset.

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 9:

(11) VEKOMA had no ill effects from being off 10Mo as he dusted rivals last time at this 7F distance. Facing a Salty group today but he looks like the real deal sprinting. The other 4yr that caught my eye is (4) NITROUS. His best two races have come at this distance facing G1 runners. Was making up ground on Whitmore last time and gets another furlong and Jose to get there. Worth a shot at 15:1. (10) MIND CONTROL is clicking right now and re-unites with Johnny V. Any left over moisture will make him even stronger.

Race 10:

(3) MORE GRAYTFUL held his own against better last time fresh off his maiden win. Cox is all business today and gives Manny a leg up against these NW1X NYBreds. He likes moisture if there’s any of that later on. (6) QUICKFLASH is quick and Jr is off to a good start. I see him in front turning for home. The question is, can he hold them off that extra ½ furlong. Both (4) TALE OF THE UNION and (12) FINANCIALSTABILITY will be coming late to the party. If the speeds back up, one of them should go by.

Race 11:

(3) MR JAGGERS moves back to the grass and is kicking down the barn to run. Back to back bullets for Mott and gives new go to guy Rosario the reigns. They teamed up to win with a similar runner earlier this week. We’ll need to include the Brown runner (6) LONESOME FUGITIVE. Wasn’t the cleanest debut for this Irish bred and now gets the big oval to stretch his legs. Out of a Chester House Mare, this guy could be a handful today. (7) VOODOO ZIP just missed last time navigating the short stretch at GP. The move to Belmont, and that sweeping turn, will make that kick more potent.
