There is some rain in the forecast at Belmont today, so we are paying close attention to that and some late scratches/surface changes. We are going to continue with our two pick three plays, as well as the vertical plays in those races. The carryover for the late pick 5 today is $327,647 and our two tickets will cover those five races if you wanted to get a little fancy with the action. If you have any other angles that you are looking at in any of the races we cover, please let us know on Twitter (@PetesPicks1) as we would love to discuss. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 4, 9, 10, 11

R6: 7

R7: 2, 4, 7, 9, 11

Cost: $20.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

R8: 1, 5, 8, 10

R9: 4, 8, 9

R10: 2, 6, 8, 9

Cost: $48.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

(4) Idle Time is consistent and worthy of the morning line favorite. I will include this horse, but I like others in vertical plays. (9) MonkeySeeMonkeyDo is my top pick in this one with Mike Maker dropping this horse back down to the class where she has performed best at. I think this horse will get a great trip from Jose and get him a win in this one. (10) Abrupt is out of the red hot Bill Mott barn and this horse should be a big threat late down the stretch, especially with the class drop which should wake this horse up. (11) Basie has the Castellano/Brown connections and they like winning races. This horse will also be a stretch threat late and will need to be included. (12) Heirloom Kitten is my price play here in the verticals as I think this horse will be sent to the lead early, but I just think she gets passed late.

$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00

$1.00 Ex 9,10,11 w/ 4,9,10,11,12 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

I put my foot down in this race and am going to single (7) Instagrand. I think this horse will be much the best in this optional claiming race, with the goal to get to the front and not look back. Over the past two days the main track has favored speed horses, and I think Rosario has the eye on getting to that lead quickly. There are others that look good on paper, but sometimes you just have to lay it out there.

$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 7 w/ 2,4,5,6,8 Cost: $10.00

Race 7:

I see this one as being a crap shoot, so going to spread a bit. (2) StretchTheStory is a play here for me with the late speed that I think will come in handy in this sprint. (4) Violent Point is going to improve second time out on grass, and I think this is a strong contender here. (7) DancingWthDaffodls loves to eat my money as I continue to bet on this horse, so lets stay on brand and include this horse. I think the move back to what seems to be her preferred surface on grass will help this horse in this race. (9) Queendom would be pretty cool to win this one at the current 20/1 odds, and we could see a sustained run from this horse with the hot jockey, Reylu, aboard. (11) The Important One has shown improvement in both her career starts and the connections alone make this horse a play with Rosario/Asmussen.

$2.00 Ex 2,4 w/ 2,4,7,9,11 Cost: $16.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

(1) CATCH A THRILL returned from a layoff to post her best race of her career last time. The City Zip seem to like the Belmont lawn as I expect her to be on her toes. She re-unites with Jose for this. (8) VOTING AGREEMENT was impressive in her debut at the Spa, then went on the shelf. Ordinary works has me on the fence an whether or not to put her on the ballet. The other More Than Ready (5) CHINA SILK on the other hand, seems to be working well for her return. Sheppard is not known for sprinters but, it’s on the lawn and that’s his thing.

$7.00 WPS 1 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 1,5 w/ 1,5,8,10 Cost: $18.00

Race 9:

Don’t often talk about a Baffert runner on the NYRA Circuit but here we are. He ships in (9) MOTHER MOTHER and she didn’t miss a step with a bullet work here. Rosario already has a win on her which makes this gal the filly to beat. Brown counters with his princess (4) ROYAL CHARLOTTE. Already a G2 winner, she starts her 2020 campaign sporting a bullet of her own on this track. Castellano returns and will try to duplicate their Spa performance in the Prioress. And then there’s the true 6F specialist (8) CHALON. She cannot be taken lightly in this spot. She will not let the top two take the layup today. They will have to earn it as Jose takes over the reigns. The one closer I’ll use underneath is (5) PIEDI BIANCHI. She’s a cut below these but, usually comes home strong. Maybe she can sneak into the exacta at a price.

$3.00 Ex 4,9 w/ 4,5,8,9 Cost: $18.00

Race 10:

(2) CARIBBEAN GOLD debuted at a mile while taking a lot of money, but that may have been too long. Then tried 5F and didn’t get going until late. Now he gets his preferred distance and should get speed up front to get there. (8) PROPENSITY is one of those speeds that also gets his preferred 6F distance and will be in front late. If he shakes loose turning for home, he’ll be tough to catch. (6) COMPLEX SYSTEM will take lots of action as he too gets back to sprinting. It’ll be hard to leave this Brown runner off the ticket.

$3.00 Ex 2,8 w/ 2,6,8,9 Cost: $18.00
