Happy Belmont Stakes Day Eve! We have a stacked card today this 11 race card and we are excited to cash in on what should be some really nice pools. We are going to take down a pair of pick 3 plays that covers the pick 6 sequence. We will have a write-up underneath the picks to give you some ideas as to why we landed on what we did. We hope that this assistance can lead to multiple cashed tickets! I am going to be focused on races 6-8 and Big Pete will be locked into races 9-11. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on another race on the card that we would like to try and improve the bankroll on and cover as much of the card as we can. GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R6: 3, 7, 10, 11
R7: 1, 2, 6, 7
R8: 5, 7, 8 Cost: $ 48.00
*Top selections for each race in Purple*
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R9: 1, 4, 5
R10: 2, 3, 5, 8
R11: 1, 4, 5, 8 Cost: $ 48.00
*Top selections for each race in Purple*
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
(8) Colton's Command is getting one more shot in here with me. I think this horse will like the short cutback in distance and make up ground this time out. The workout leading in makes me believe this horse will be fresh from the gate and I hope gets lost on the tote board and we can get a nice price.
$5.00 WPS 8 Cost: $15.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 4 :
(4) MAHAAMEL got caught by a talented First Captain in his debut. There doesn't appear to be any Captains in this bunch. Johnny V subs in for Irad so I won't try to beat them. I will look for two prices to pass the others in the stretch. (3) Lemon Drop Road and the firster (2) The Honerable One look the best of the rest to complete the exacta.
$ 10.00 Ex 4 w/ 2, 3 Cost: $ 20.00
We’ll also use Mahaamel in R4 and try to crash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
We'll use Lil Pete's best best (8) Colton's Command and throw in (5) Science in the 5th
$ 7.00 Double 4 w/ 5, 8 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 6:
(3) Brilliant Brooks looks good on paper in here, but I am not in love with. I will be including as I do not want to lose the first leg of this because I tried to beat Irad. (10) QuickFlash is my top selection in here who had a rough showing last time out on dirt, but the switch back should allow this horse to run his best race. If this horse runs similar to two back then this horse is the winner. (7) Bingo John gets Florent Geroux this time out and cuts back in distance. I will trust this horse will be able to sustain a bigger run towards the front and have a say late down the stretch. My last play will be (11) Devil's Code who is coming in strongly in this one and these types of sprints are where he excels the most in the PP's. I will assume Dylan Davis is going to be extremely aggressive from the gate and this horse has an ability to stick around throughout.
$3.00 WPS 10 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 7,10 w/ 3,7,10,11 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 3,11 w/ 3,7,10,11 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
In the Gr.2 True North we should anticipate the two inside post position horses, (1) Firenze Fire and (2) Flagstaff, to be the most likely winners in here. I really like the presence of (4) American Power who should set some early fractions to run into and I think sets up well for these two horses. I really like (2) Flagstaff to run a huge race in here and is going to be my top selection. My last inclusion will be (7) Phat Man who is going to be coming extremely strongly late in this one and I like the race run last time out against my top selection. In case this race breaks down badly late, then I will trust Joel Rosario to work out a trip. Since Lil Pete left me in charge today, I'll also include (6) Wicked Trick in the Pick 3 sequence above. Rice has been going longer this year with him, now they cut back to where he belongs. The moisture helps as well.
$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00
$3.00 Ex 1,2,7 Cost: $18.00
Race 8:
(7) Pacific Gale had a rough break last time and will improve this time out. Johnny V is a big race runner and will have this horse ready to roll for the stretch drive with a forwardly placed horse. The late closing (5) Victim of Love who can handle a hot pace and should be saving ground throughout under Rosario. This horse will have a say late down the stretch. (8) Estilo Talentoso has some G1 experience and Castellano returns. He likes to finish 2nd but today could be her day.
$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00
$3.00 Ex Box 5, 7, 8 Cost: $18.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 9:
(5) HARVEY’S LIL GOIL has been facing the top turf gals from day one. She got in a public workout in her May 8th win and now is ready for battle. If she brings her A game, the rest are fighting for 2nd. (1) MAGIC ATTITUDE already has two wins on this course. Both were going long. She will be the danger through the stretch. I’ll include two older mares that finished behind Magic Attitude last time. I’ll lean heavy on the above two but toss in the Brown runner (4) MY SISTER NAT as a savor. She has races last year that match up well here. If she can find them, that 15:1ML works for me.
$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 1, 5 w/ 1, 4, 5, 7 Cost $ 18.00
Race 10:
(8) BARON SAMEDI comes to the US on a 6 race win streak and picks up Johnny V for the ride. He doesn’t have to be a monster to beat this group but has to show up. I’ll include but try to beat him with the English Channel gelding (2) TIDE OF THE SEA. This race appears to be lacking speed and the Tide could be left alone. As is common with these marathons, if the pace can be controlled early, that’s an advantage to the front runners. It’s Prat again who will try to put them to sleep for the first mile. (3) ZIYAD usually comes running at the end. With this 2M distance, most probably can’t get this far. He seems long winded and can probably last. (5) FANTASIOSO also comes from way out of it. The switch to Castellano and the wide turns will help this guy.
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 2, 8 w/ 2, 3, 5, 8 Cost $ 18.00
Race 11:
With two Clement runners entered, I’m guessing Rosario had choice of which one to ride. He ends up on (1) Q F SEVENTY FIVE and so will I. This one is built to get this 10F distance and likely to save ground all the way around the course. (5) CAMBI LION just keeps improving and also wants more ground. Was able to close well but ran out of real estate. (8) LANDBISCUIT is an Orb that can probably run all day as well. Lezcano subs in and this guy responded well to L1 last time. Improvement is expected. (4) SUMMER SILENCE is the other Clement. He ran well last time and the turf had some give in it like it does today.
