We are looking to carry a little momentum in to the day after hitting our two plays yesterday. We are going to keep the same format; I will be focusing in on races 5-7, and Big Pete will be focusing in on races 8-10. We will have some vertical action in all of those races to hedge our ticket a bit. Make sure to sign up for the newsletter to have all post notifications sent to your email! GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
We have a tough entry in this one that has a 9/5 morning line, Castellano and Irad Ortiz aboard, and Brad Cox and Chad Brown as the jockeys. These horses will be in my play, but the field has some good speed in it that I am anticipating a late horse passing tiring horses to take this one. I am going to hope that I land on that horse. (2) Kreesie should be in a good position late to charge past tiring horses, I am just worried that this horse will prefer more distance than this 7 furlongs. (6) Hannah's Smile is going to be my top selection in this one. I think this horse will get the fast early fractions that this horse thrives in and should have plenty with Manny aboard to close on this field late. (8) Devant is also another horse that I think has a great chance of winning this one. This horse is getting some class relief and has shown closing ability against better fields. My last play in this one is going to be the other Chad Brown horse who is making her U.S. debut, (7) Lady Lawyer. This horse doesn't jump off the page to me, but if the speed wrecks this race I would like to have a Chad Brown horse on my ticket just in case.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,6 w/ 1,2,6,7,8 Cost: $16.00
Race 6:
(2) High School Crush could be my Manny double here? This horse has a bullet workout coming in and should be able to handle this field. The problem I have is that I do not trust this horse being that she has not won a race yet, so I landed on two other horses to hedge a bit. (6) Deja Racante will get to the front early and maybe this is the one where she hits the wire first. (7) Vitanza has shown some ability to close late on fields, so this could be the one where she catches them all.
$2.00 Ex Box 2,6,7 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
(10) Le General with a Manny PICK 3?? If everything goes the way that I am thinking, which almost always happens, we can expect Manny Franco to have a DAY. I think this horse will be much the best from the class drop and be able to control this race throughout. Just to throw in one other horse that I like because I do not like singling my last leg, I will include Jose Ortiz aboard the (13) Empire Line. It was between (4) Aced and (13) Empire Lane, which I landed on (13) Empire Lane because I like this horse having the outside lane and be able to break well right towards the front without congestion. I think Jose will place this horse right behind the lead and the class drop could be what this horse needed to be a consistent winner. The extended layoff is intimidating and the drop in to this field after running stakes and maiden special weights first time out also irks me, but I think George Weaver may be trying to cash a check.
$5.00 WPS 10 Cost: $15.00
$3.00 Ex 10 w/ 4,5,13 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 4,5,13 w/ 4,5,10,13 Cost: $9.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
(5) MYSTIC GUIDE stretched out nicely to post a big number breaking his maiden last time. A Re-Pete of that today makes this guy to horse to beat. His dad did ok here at Big Sandy and I suspect Mystic will like it also. (5) BASQUIAT will attract a lot of money as this Pharoah turned in an impressive debut. The 8.5F should be right up his alley but facing winners for the first time is never an easy task. I actually like Brown’s other runner (8) COUNTRY GRAMMER over him today. This Tonalist should enjoy the wide sweeping turns here as Castellano will have the option to go or stalk. I’ll put him on top.
$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex Box 5,6,8 Cost: $18.00
Race 9:
(1) STANDARD DEVIATION has gained the respect of this division with his last three races. He’s improved each time as Motion has big plans for this guy. The farther the better for this Curlin as he re-unites with Johnny V. Gets a little class relief and the cozy rail. (13) CHANNEL MAKER gets Irad and is working well for his Belmont return. If he can save some ground, he can take them all the way. (10) GO POKE THE BEAR is the outsider that I’ll include to hit the board. Maker claimed him three back and has been very aggressive with him and The Bear hasn’t disappointed. Bred to run all day and it’s not often you see Jose climb aboard a 30:1 shot.
$3.00 Ex 1,13 w/ 1,3,10,13 Cost: $18.00
Race 10:
Of those that have raced, there’s only one that stands out to me, that is (9) DANCING KIKI. Not solely because of her pp’s, but because she tries turf for the first time. Blame has plenty of turf pedigree but her Mom, Justenufappeal/Exchange Rate, is where the grass influence entices me. Davis can set-up shop just off the speeds and mow them down through the stretch. I’ll include three firsters as well. (1) TOWERING GAZE, (6) LA KARA MIA and (10) CAKE all have turf and speed Sires that make them attractive at first asking. Plus, who doesn’t like CAKE!
