Sunday funday in full effect on this beautiful weather day at Belmont. We are looking to take down a pair of pick 3s that covers the pick 6 sequence. I will be locked into races 4-6 and Big Pete will close the card out with races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to improve our bankroll on. We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R4: 4, 6
R5: 2, 4, 5, 6
R6: 1, 3, 4, 8
Cost: $32.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R7: 1, 2, 4
R8: 1, 2, 4
R9: 1, 5, 10, 11
Cost: $36.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
(4) Ego Man gets back into form in this one with Irad getting the mount. This horse had a dud last time out and I think the class in drop is what this horse needs. I expect Irad to be aggressive early and do what he does on the track; WIN.
$5.00 WPS 4 Cost: $15.00
$3.00 Ex 4, w/ 1,3,5,6 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
(5) OBSESSED is a More Than Ready, out of a Smart Strike Mare. I’m surprised they haven’t tried the turf again until today. He went 11F against much better the last time he felt the grass. With a lot of underachievers here, my guess is Rosario guns this guy to the front and lulls them to sleep. Without any recent rain, the front end is probably where you want to be as it will be very firm.
(1) Albie and (2) Turn Of Events will try to make up ground late.
$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 5 w/ 1, 2 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also use Obsessed in R1 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
We’ll use the Englehart entry (1, 1A) and (3) Frosted Indian in this 6F sprint.
$ 7.00 Double 5 w/ 1, 3 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
There isn't much more outside of the favorites that I like in here. (4) Ninth Hour looks much the best in here and the likely winner. (6) Money in the Bank will be forwardly placed by Dylan Davis and it could be a two horse race on the lead. Big scratch of the (5) My Roxy Girl which means I will be leaving it with only two horses on the first leg.
$5.00 Ex Box 4,6 Cost: $10.00
Race 5:
The trainer race in here and will allow the others in the field to try and beat me. (2) Bacchanalia and (6) Miss Teheran from the Chad Brown barn and I really like their performance together last time out. I think a well timed trip is what will win this one and I trust these two jockeys to work out that trip. The same thing with (4) Beautiful Lover and (5) Traipsing from the Clement barn. These two horses will patiently wait for their opening come stretch drive and I trust these jockeys to time a trip perfectly as well. It should be an exciting finish.
$2.00 Ex box 2,4,5,6 Cost: $24.00
Race 6:
My top pick in here is going to be (1) Noble Journey. This horse is improving each time out and his best performance to date is on a firm grass surface; which is what he is getting here. The post position is favorable and the workout leading in has me excited to invest my $$ on this one. I will also be including (4) Bar Fourteen who is a horse that is forwardly placed and the experience on the lead could equate to a more sustained run. (3) Neuro seems to be better suited for less distance and I think this small distance relief will pay off late for thisone. Last play will be (8) King Moonracer who is coming in after his best performance last time out and that repeat performance I think will put this horse is a similar position to win this one. The addition of Saez is a major plus.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,4 w/ 1,3,4,8 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 3,8 w/ 1,3,4,8 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
Both favorites are coming off extended layoffs so we’ll try to steal this one with (1) STEAM ENGINE. He has speed and Saez knows how to use it. Look for them to be aggressive and make the chalk earn it. I prefer (4) TUGGLE over (2) TALE OF THE UNION as they both like to stalk and come with their stretch run. Irad is the wild card on Tuggle. Johnny V won a couple of stake races out of town but this isn’t a Ward sprinter.
$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 1, 4 w/ 1, 2, 4, 5 Cost $ 18.00
Race 8:
(4) BREAKPOINT is 5 for 5. He’s the horse to beat so if he’s ready, everyone else will be running for 2nd. However, it’s not a strong move for Brown when he drops off layoffs. We’ll include but look elsewhere. Speed is always dangerous so I’ll trust Jose and (2) CAROM to save some energy for the stretch. With both of Brown’s runners are coming off layoffs, we’ll let Jose do his thing up front and wire this field. The 9F seems to be perfect for him. (1) OLYMPICO has the class and Irad to make some noise here he just doesn’t win much. Maybe the time off is what he needed?
$ 7.00 WPS 2 Cost $ 21.00
$ 5.00 Ex 2, 4 w/ 1, 2, 4 Cost $ 20.00
Race 9:
The 0 for 31 is hard to ignore on Bond, but (10) GIRAMONTE convinced Saez to stick around for the finale. Turf seems better for this one so I’ll trust Luis to give the trainer his first win. Turf also agreed with (11) HOT DOCTOR last time and the slight cut back to 6F should work in his favor. Irad subs in for Lezcano on the Rice firster (5) CALIBOGEE. That’s a good sign that he sticks around for one mount when he could have got an early jump on the traffic.(1) TEMPESTA looks to be a major player here. Johnny V subs in and he should find himself all alone up front.
