We have a great day of racing at Belmont which is headlined by the Gr.2 Mother Goose in the 8th. We are looking to take down a pair of pick 3 plays that covers the pick 6 sequence. I will be focused on races 5-7 and Big Pete will close the card on races 8-10. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race that we would like to try and improve our bankroll on. We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and hope we can cash some tickets! GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R5: 4, 6, 7, 9
R6: 2, 3, 4, 6
R7: 3, 4, 9 Cost: $ 48.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R8: 1, 2
R9: 2, 4, 7, 9
R10: 2, 4, 7, 9, 11 Cost: $ 40.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day": Part 1
Race 1:
We’ll try to get this Saturday card started with a bang. All eyes will be on Ghostmon to win this easy. He looks the part and the connections draw your attention. But we are talking about MCL 40k runners, so anything can happen. I can’t resist the 15:1 ML on the Artie Schiller gelding (9) ARTIE’S LIT. His debut is much better than his last and I’m guessing we will see a better run than what he did earlier this month. The others in here are awful so we’re only looking for Ghostmon to leave his A game home today and Artie to take a step forward.
We’ll use favorite (6) Ghostmon and (7) Charge Into War in our exacta.
$ 7.00 WPS 9 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Exacta Box 6, 7, 9 Cost $ 18.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
I will live on the inside in here and expect a big race from (1) High Oak. This horse is putting out great workouts and the post position should allow this horse to break well and save ground throughout. There should be speed to his outside and I am trusting Alvarado to navigate a nice trip for this 2 year old and come in at a great price.
$ 5.00 WPS 1 Cost: $15.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day": Part 2
Race 4:
Most of the attention will be on the Ward and Noda runners in here. They are winning a lot of races this meet but they have a big for sale sign on these two horses. There also figures to be plenty of speed as the rail runner has to go and three other need the lead to win. That makes me want the only true closer in this field. (4) THE QUEENS JULES likes to lope along in the back of the pack and come running at the end. He’s not as fast as some of these but I’m thinking most of them will be backing up when they hit the 1/8 pole. That’s when this Scat Daddy will kick in.
We’ll use likely favorite (2) Vici and (1) Aristocratic underneath for our exacta.
$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 4 w/ 1, 2 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also try to collect on a Daily Double play with The Queens Jules and use a couple of Little Pete’s runners, (6) Gambling Cat and (7) Magisterium in the 5th
$ 7.00 Double 4 w/ 6, 7 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
I like the two Mike Maker horses in here with (6) Gambling Cat being my top pick in here. This horse is coming in with good form and the race should set up well late for this horse to run on with it. (9) Lightning Lou is a horse making her US debut and we will have to check the numbers, but horses making their debut on grass in the states have a high win rate. (7) Magisterium looks a bit too good in here to leave off the ticket so I will include. I am not in love with the form this horse is in, but just may be too much for the field. My last play will be (4) Jill's a Hot Mess who is coming in from a win and claim and looks to remain hot. The bullet workout coming into this one is the reason I am confident to include.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 6,9 w/ 4,6,7,9 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 4,7 w/ 4,6,7,9 Cost: $6.00
Race 6:
(3) Quasar is my top pick in here with Irad getting the mount. This horse is fresh off the claim and training lights out. The addition of Irad in here makes me believe this horse will be forwardly placed throughout and have plenty left in the tank to run on with it. (4) Myawaya looks very good coming in and the steep drop in class makes this horse a must play. (6) Riding on a Winner is a horse I like to improve third time out. Manny should be able to navigate a nice trip in here and become the main danger for the stretch drive. My last play will be Eric Cancel riding the rail with (2) East Wing and then fanning out wide to compete for the wire first. I just couldn't leave this horse off the ticket.
$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 3,6 w/ 2,3,4,6 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 2,4 w/ 2,3,4,6 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
I will be including (3) RockEmperor, but I will be trying to beat in here. I really like (4) Mr. Alec to surge late in this race and hit the wire first. Rosario knows this horse and will have him poised for a shot at the wire first. I also like (9) Dot Matrix in here to run a great stretch drive and if it is a quick pace in here then this horse will come storming.
$5.00 WPS 4 Cost: $15.00
$2.00 Ex Box 3,4,9 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
It won’t surprise me if Brown sweeps the late pick 3 as he is prominent in all three. Starting with (2) ALWAYS CARINA who has been impressive and her works are fast. She figures to control this right from the start. With Jose out of town, Prat comes in for the paycheck. If everything goes as planned, Carina likely handles them. But this is horse racing and anything can happen. We’ll use another in here incase she stubs her toe.
(1) MAKE MISCHIEF has been facing some good ones recently and not disappointing. Two 3rd place finishes and is likely to get better with more ground. I like the move to Cancel as he’s been riding well this meet.
$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00
$ 5.00 Ex 1, 2 w/ 1, 2, 3 Cost $ 20.00
Race 9:
I can’t find anything wrong with likely favorite (2) MINAUN. She rolled in her US debut and is bred to get better going longer. The other Brown, (4) NEVISIAN SUNRISE looks like she is sitting on one. She likes 2nd but, she keeps improving each time out. Go to rider Irad is up and will give her stable mate a run for the money. I will try to beat them both with the Flintshire NYBred (9) RUNAWAY RUMOUR. She looks like dad through the stretch as she came running late in both her starts to win. Lezcano returns and she responded well for hi the last time they met. It’s a big step for her but she’s worth the 8:1 ML. (7) BYE BYE and Rosario may try to steal this one. I see this one going early and daring them to catch her. .
$ 7.00 WPS 9 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 2, 9 w/ 2, 4, 7, 9 Cost $ 18.00
Race 10:
We will spread out in the finale and mix some prices in as the first two legs look a little chalky. (2) QUICK CONVERSATION was the favorite last time and may get overlooked here. She was left with to much to do and was wide that day. A better trip will help. (11) GAILHORSEWIND closed twice but came up short both times. Lezcano won’t wait as long this time. (7) DAME TIME was looking for turf first out but it came off. Still ran ok and gets the turf today. The likely favorite is (9) SO ENCHANTING. If Brown sweeps the first two, they will most likely load up on this one. She add L1 today after back to back 2nd’s. (4) BLUE LILY is an American Pharoah firster from Ward. That's enough for me to include this filly on our ticket.
