It looks to be another beautiful day of racing at Belmont Park today and we are going to key in on a pair of pick 3 plays. We are headlined by the Hessonite in the 8th today, but have some exciting races throughout the card. Do I wish we had some larger fields?.. Yes. But that does not make this any less exciting to cash some tickets. I will be focusing in on races 4-6, and Big Pete will be focusing in on races 7-9. We will have vertical plays in each of those races as well. This is the day where we pick up some momentum and carry some money over to play through the weekend. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
Significant scratches in this one makes it a single for me in (3) First Appeal. At this level, this horse should be sent right to the lead and not see another horse until after the wire. I cannot make a case for any other horse with all of the scratches, so will just throw some numbers underneath to see if we can get a price. This horse is going to go off lower than the 4/5 morning line.
$2.00 Ex 3 w/ 4,7,8,11 Cost: $8.00
$10.00 WIN 3 Cost: $10.00
Race 5:
With the scratch of (3) Blinded Love who was going to be my speed to try and steal this one, I am going to replace with (1) Blue Belt; who I initially left off my ticket. (5) Javelin had his tune up race and ran well enough to be the 9/5 morning line favorite against this field. The 7 furlongs is where this horse should be and will the most likely winner. (7) Tale of Mist will be my last play here with the move back to Eric Cancel. This horse will be getting a better trip then the last two times out and I think that equates to a more sustained run. This horse could be set up to have the most left down the stretch if Cancel can get this horse from the outside post right in front of (5) Javelin.
$2.00 Ex Box 1,5,7 Cost: $12.00
$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00
Race 6:
This one I am throwing almost everyone in it, because why not have a Friday party? (4) Barleewon is coming in after a great showing last time out and switching back to Johnnie V. This horse is going to be a tough beat with the current form showing. (10) Aintitfunkynow is exiting the same race as (4) Barleewon as the post time favorite and I am going to give this horse another shot at this one. (11) Voliero is the same story as he is also exiting the same race as the other two stated and we should expect improvement this time out. (1) No Salt will be my wild card play here after being on the shelf for almost a year. The workouts look great leading up and an extended stay in the Bill Mott barn usually leads to winning ways. (5) Justintimeforwine likes to shoot to the early lead and Mike Luzzi stole one yesterday with this tactic, so maybe lighting could strike twice? (6) Mundacious won't see the same time fractions as he did at the mile distance last time out. The move to grass and adding Saez should benefit this horse to have a more compelling stretch drive to challenge for this one. Last play here will be the firster in (9) Lord Cadbury. He is getting Rosario who loves to sit behind on grass and charge late past tiring horses and could have the horse to do just that first time out.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 1,4,10 w/ 1,4,5,6,9,10,11 Cost: $18.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
Post position 1 on the Belmont inner forces you to go quickly at 8.5F or you get shuffled back. (1) THE J Y showed gate speed last time but, hasn’t in the past. It’ll be interesting to see what Franco does today. He has some rivals that may want the lead so the first furlong will be key. I’ll use but, I can’t ignore the switch to Castellano on (3) OPT. Was hung out to dry last Nov when he faced the same rival then but, today he should save some ground. I’ll look for him and Javier to be closing in late. (9) RINALDI must go hard early to clear off so again, the first furlong will set the tone more so in this race today. (8) GHOST GIANT has already won at this level so he certainly can do it again.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,3,8,9 Cost: $18.00
Race 8:
What’s puzzling here is that Jose chooses the longer of the two Donk runners entered. I interpret this as a negative for the favorite (7) SARATOGA TREASURE. I’ll use her but, try to beat her. (4) KID IS FROSTY is better sprinting dirt or turf. The presence of Irad and the possibility of lone speed, will certainly make this guy a contender. I’m taking a shot with (3) PURRAGEOUS DYNA to come late with a strong kick. She move back to the turf and tries 6F for the first time. Saez will keep her in range of the leaders and let her loose turning for home. This Courageous Cat, out of a City Zip Mare, is bred to sprint on the Belmont lawn as she proved back in Oct.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3,4 w/ 1,3,4,7 Cost: $18.00
Race 9:
(9) MOPOLKA took a lot of money last time when she tried turf. Ran ok and now moves back to the dirt. The presence of Saez and the slight drop makes this Uncle Mo a must use for me. Farther out (13) HAPPY HIL LIL picks up Irad after a decent run against some of these entered here. I doubt we get the 5:1 ML but even 3:1 wouldn’t be that bad. (3) HAYEZHEE hit the board last time and drops slightly for this. Sometimes that’s enough as she isn’t facing very much here. (14) CRICK has gotten 2nd on three occasions vs this level. No reason to think she can’t do it again. We’ll use underneath.
