Beautiful day for racing in Belmont today with some crowded fields and potential to make some $$. We are going to change up our two tickets today with me focusing on a spot double for races 6 and 7, and Big Pete will be focusing on the late pick 3 for races 8-10. We will also have some vertical plays in each, so let us try and cash some tickets. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's Spot Double:
Race 6:
I landed on 5 horses in this one, with my top selection going to (8) Uhtred. This horse is taking a class drop and getting some relief in the distance, which I think equates to this horse sustaining a fast pace throughout and have enough stamina left to hit the wire first. That being said, there are others in this one that have a case for the winner's circle in my head. The always dangerous combo of Castellano/Brown is the morning line favorite and will get plenty of money thrown at him, so going to place on ticket so I do not lose to them. (2) Blackline has tactical speed that I like in here at this distance. Rosario always seems to race well on grass, so will include. (6) Channel Island gets the hungry Saez aboard who just recently came back to the NY circuit and wants to get off to a great start. My last play is going to be (9) Tricky Magician this horse has been training well and loves a fast early pace to close on, so given the speed in this one I think it would be smart to give this horse a play.
$3.00 WPS 8 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex 2,4,8 w/ 2,4,6,8,9 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
I personally love grass sprints and this one should be an exciting one. (10) Scuttlebuzz is moving to grass for the first time and I think that is exactly what this horse needs to break his maiden. (5) Jack of Clubs is also going to benefit from the surface change and I think this horse is a must play here. Now to a couple of price plays who I think have a good shot here. (4) More Like It is going to be sneaky dangerous here with Jose Ortiz aboard. This horse is taking a class leap and I think will run a great race. (7) Ratchet has the name that the kids love and the connections that could win this spot double.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$1.00 Ex Box 4,5,7,10 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
Big test coming for (8) FINDING FAME today. She hasn’t done anything wrong but meets older Mares today for the first time. I’ll try to beat her on that alone. Both (6) HONER WAYand (7) FAIR REGIS have similar running lines and run big every so often. I’m guessing one of them brings their A game today and gets the job done. The one Mare I’m a little scared of is (5) NISHA. She will get lost in the betting but this gal knows how to win. If the rail filly doesn’t go, Nisha will be dangerous up front.
$3.00 Ex 6,7 w/ 5,6,7,8 Cost: $18.00
Race 9:
(6) CAPTAIN BOMBASTIC is 2 for 2 on Big Sandy AND against NY Breds. Ships back to NY and gets Saez to ship in as well. The cutback to 7F hits him right between the eyes in this very competitive Mike Lee. Rudy has (4) DREAM BIGGER doing just that. He hasn’t missed many dances against the top NYS sprinters so far, but today will be the acid test. This is his toughest assignment to date so, Jose is summoned. Rosario was caught napping in the Sleepy Hollow with (2) CITY MANtwo back against the Captain. This guy gets back to sprinting and Clement is in a groove right now. He’s my top choice to get up late. His last two works indicate he’s ready to go.
$7.00 WPS 2 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 2,6 w/ 2,4,5,6 Cost: $18.00
Race 10:
We’ll start with (3) SHOOTIN THE BREEZE as most will include with the drop. Was never a serious threat of winning when facing better, so now tries NW2L Claimers to wake him up. Must consider but I’m not a fan of these major drops. Trainers give up their horses for a reason. Looks like damaged goods to me. I’m interested in the Cox runner (12) QUIET OUT EAST. He’s meant for turf and he moves back to that surface today. Showed he liked the Belmont lawn last fall posting a win and a 2nd. All system go as Manny jumps back up. We won’t get 10:1 but even half of that will be a bargain. (8) CHANTRY FLATS burns a lot of cash but does collect checks. Maybe he just needs Jose to find the winners circle for him. Sometimes it’s just that simple. They value might be (6) ALBIE. He’s been competitive dealing with State Bred Alw company and this may be a slight drop or lateral move which puts him right there close to home.
