9 race card today at Belmont and we are looking to take down a pair of pick 3 plays. I will be focused on races 4-6 and Big Pete will be locked into races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to try and improve our bankroll on. GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R4: 4, 8, 9
R5: 4, 5, 12
R6: 9, 10, 11, 12
Cost: $36.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R7: 2, 7, 8
R8: 5, 7, 8
R9: 2, 5, 6, 7, 12
Cost: $45.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
(2) Wicked Happy has found her footing on grass and has a favorable post position in here. This horse should be able to find a rail position early and have a lane to run in to catch the front runners late. I like Cancel getting the mount for the second time and time a nice closing trip in here.
$5.00 WPS 2 Cost: $15.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
(8) STORMI CAT LADY wants a 1M race on the dirt and she gets it today. She tried turf, mud and slop in her last three and just spun her wheels. In six starts at this distance, she’s 5 out of 6 in the money. Most of those were against better fillies. It’s now or never as Schosberg reaches out and grabs Rosario for the ride and drops slightly. All systems go. I’ll look for some prices to close behind her and pass the speeds.
(1) Scott Alaia moves back to dirt and (5) Calidad gets a new jock. Both can come running at the end.
$ 7.00 WPS 8 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 8 w/ 1, 5 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also use Stormi Cat Lady in R1 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play in the 2nd
(5) Gabby Squared and (11) Alpha Babe look solid in the 1M turf for MCL in the 2nd
$ 7.00 Double 8 w/ 5, 11 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
I am going to go with the three favorites in here as I do not see much outside of them. (4) Scotty is cutting back in distance and should be on the lead early in here. This horse could be too tough to catch late and wire the field. (8) WhichWayToMalibu is also cutting back in distance and a late run down the stretch could be the winning trip for this horse. (9) Frosted Indian is my last play here who should be up front throughout and have plenty left to compete late.
$3.00 Ex Box 4,8,9 Cost: $18.00
Race 5:
My top selection in here is going to be (9) Clamor who I expect a late closing stretch drive to win this one. (12) Stanhope should be set to the lead and set some nice fractions, which I think opens up a lane late to pass the tiring horses. (4) Silver Token and (5) Knockout Punch should be included as well on the ticket as both possess enough early speed to keep up with the pace and the favorable post positions should allow them to save ground throughout. I am expecting an exciting finish to this one, so be ready to be entertained!
$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 4,5,12 Cost: $12.00
Race 6:
I am sticking to the outside in this one and going four deep. (9) Noble Emotion is dropping in class again and likes to be on the lead. This horse should be able to sustain a big run in here and having Jose Ortiz navigate is always a good option. (10) Swashbuckle is coming into this race in good form and is going to be stalking the lead and wait for the opportunity to fan out wide and run down this field. (11) Honor Up is a horse I really like in here to run a big race. Lezcano should be aggressive early to find a forwardly placed rail position and then wait for the lane to open up and let this horse run late. (12) Shiraz is a horse that has the speed to wire this field and Saez is such a good speed rider that this horse is a must play for me.
$3.00 WPS 11 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 11,12 w/ 9,10,11,12 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 9,10 w/ 9,10,11,12 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
It’s hard to ignore (8) BARISTA VIXEN as she’s been on a roll this year. She’s a nose from being 4 for 4 this year. She gets a slightly better group but I’m guessing she up to the task. (2) CALIBOGUE SOUND won easy first time out for Rudy and still is on her toes with a bullet last week. The 6.5F shouldn’t matter and Saez returns. She looks dangerous to me. (7) CADEAU DE PAIX was 2nd to a good one in her most recently and was 5 lengths clear of the next horse. She now cuts back to a more favorable distance and retains the hot Lezcano. That’s where I’ll land to kick off this late Pk3.
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 2, 6 w/ 2, 4, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00
Race 8:
Shug is having a meet and he sends out (5) IN A HURRY. She was making up ground late at Pimlico in her last and she figures to do the same today. This time she gets Jose to navigate the trip. I will take a stab with (8) KISSING FROGS as she shortens up to the 8.5F. She’s 2 for 2 at that distance and regular rider returns. She’ll likely stalk and get first jump on the closers. (7) KALIFORNIA QUEEN was fighting G3 fillies in her last two. She may have found an easier group and she adds L1. Manny is picking up a few more of Browns runners with Irad out and he’s doing just fine.
$ 7.00 WPS 8 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 7, 8 w/ 2, 5, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00
Race 9:
We’ll spread out here and include five. (12) BOURBON RISING may want turf after all. Two decent runs and gets the hot Lezcano. (7) WELSHMAN dropped last time and showed some signs of running. He’s a Flintshire so there could be some ability in there as he drops a little more. (6) CARIBBEAN GOLD came out running off the long layoff and drop. This Treasure Beach looks strong on the cut back to 7F. (5) THRUSTER almost got there at 6F. The extra furlong will only help as will Ortiz. (2) CENTURION has two solid runs at this level and Cancel gets the re-ride. He ran the best race of this bunch last time. I think he gets lost in the betting, so the WPS on him is the play
