We are closing in on another summer weekend, which means we have some New York racing to bet on. We are going to stick with the dueling pick 3 plays; which will cover races 5-10 (PK6 races). I will be keying in on races 5-7, and Big Pete will be keying in on races 8-10. We will also have vertical plays in each of those races to try and hedge our tickets a bit. If you have any other insight in to the races we are covering and may not have addressed it, then please reach out to us on Twitter (@PetesPicks1) and we would love to discuss. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R5: 1, 2, 4, 7

R6: 1, 3, 5, 8, 10

R7: 4

Cost: $20.00

Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:

R8: 2, 4, 9, 10

R9: 4, 6

R10: 3, 6, 7, 12

Cost: $32.00

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 5:

(5) Spice is Nice is scratched in this one and opens this one right up; I am going to have to attack this race by committee. (1) Saratoga Affair is now a major player in this one second time out on dirt for Chad Brown. We should all expect this horse to show significant improvement this time out and unfortunately will most likely be bet down to even money in this one from the betting public. (2) Master of Hope is also going to improve second time out and the stretch out could be very beneficial to this daughter of Bodemeister. I am not going to include (3) Alandra as I think this horse is better suited for a sprint, and won't have the same kick late in this one as others. (4) Kansas Kis has been nothing but consistent in her short career, and I am going to give her another chance at this distance with a field that better suits her. My last play is going to be the Mark Casse horse with Jose Ortiz aboard, (7) Tonal Vision. I am hoping that we get the 15-1 ML on this horse as I am expecting a big jump from this horse and think this horse could be the fastest one late.

$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00

$1.00 Ex 1,2,4,7 Cost: $12.00

Race 6:

They are anticipating some rain in the forecast, so have to monitor this one to make sure there are no late scratches or even surface change. (1) Puffery is getting a class drop in to this one and Rudy Rodriguez has been doing very well in these races early in the Belmont meet, so a must play for me. (8) Merlins Muse has the speed to wire this field and is a play here for me, especially if the ground has moisture in it. I think just to play it safe in this one that I will include three more horses that I think have a chance. (3) Gracetown is just consistent and I do not really love this horse, but I think could be a major player here. (5) Cape Cod Diva is getting moved back to a claiming field and workouts look good coming in and could be a strong player late. (10) Makin Out has a speed jockey aboard with Carmouche and I think this horse could play spoiler in this one. I like Carmouche to sit right behind the lead and with this grass sprint I like his ability to use that speed wisely late. I will give an honorable mention to (11) Teletype who has been working out lights out and also possesses some good speed, especially at this level; but I am going to leave this horse off my ticket. Did I most likely put this horse in the winner's circle?.. Yes.

$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00

$1.00 Ex Box 1,5,8,10 Cost: $12.00

Race 7:

(4) Chestertown for the single here. We are welcoming back Irad from a two race break and he is going to be hungry to continue showing his dominance. This horse has been a bit inconsistent in his short career, but I am trusting the rider here to get this job done. If I were looking to beat this horse (Which I am not), then I would look to (5) Our Last Buck or (8) Beg To Differ. Both of these horses are coming in with wins in their previous start and both did it in closing fashion. But in Irad we trust.

$5.00 WPS 4 Cost: $15.00

$4.00 Ex 4 w/ 5,8 Cost: $8.00

$2.00 Ex 5,8 w/ 4,5,8 Cost: $8.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 8:

(4) VALUE ENGINEERING will get a lot of support today and I can’t knock that. He is bred for this distance and Big Sandy gives him plenty of room to stretch his legs. A single on most tickets but, I’ll also include (10) TIDE OF THE SEA. He will have a slight advantage to the favorite by controlling things up front. He too is bred to run all day and if left alone, he’ll prove tough to catch. (2) NO WORDS and (9) MILITIAMAN will likely stalk the leaders and then try to close the gap late. Distance will not be an issue for these two as well.

$7.00 WPS 10 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 4,10 w/ 2,4,9,10 Cost: $18.00

Race 9:

(4) SIR WINSTON is back and returns to the surface that put him on the map. A nice tightener last time and a re-Pete of that will get him his picture taken again. His main competition may come from (6) EXPERT. His last was nothing to write home about but, that was coming off a layoff and tried G2 company. He won on this track and the distance will not be a problem. I’ll only use these two and hope to survive. (8) YOU’RE TO BLAME can’t win but someone has to be 2nd. He’s a grinder that won’t give up and keeps coming.

$3.00 Ex 4,6 w/ 4,6,8 Cost: $12.00

Race 10:

(12) WILD NORTH woke up with the move to the lawn. The slight drop should make her a that more braver to hold off the closers. Even though she breaks outside, she can work out the trip down the chute. (7) MIZZEN THE MARK gets Irad and will try turf. Two positives that I believe will improve her chances. (3) STUY TOWN BABY didn’t disappoint when she went long on the turf a few back. Out of a Harlan’s Holiday Mare, that’s not surprising. She may be sitting on a big performance today and gets Davis to navigate the trip.

$3.00 Ex 3,12 w/ 3,6,7,12 Cost: $18.00
