Belmont 4/23 Pick 3 Plays

We have a nice 9 race card today at Belmont Park and I am trying not to get ahead of myself. I hit the Pick 3 and Pick 4 play I had yesterday and it may have been a better showing than Big Pete. But, being as humble as I am, I will keep my head down and stay focused on the next play. Today we are attacking a pair of pick 3 plays that covers the pick 6 sequence. I will be focused on races 4-6 and Big Pete will close with races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to try and improve the bankroll on. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

I am playing a big upset in this race with (4) Truth Hurts running a big one in here. I expect that (1) Miss Brazil will be able to find the lead early and that is where this horse wants to be, but I do not think that she will be alone. I think Kendrick will press the pace aboard (5) Invaluable and I think others join suit in being forwardly placed. I think that this sets up (4) Truth Hurts extremely well to run down the tiring field late and going to invest a bit of money to see if it plays out exactly as I have it playing out in my head.

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race : 2

3yr old NYS Maidens go at it on the turf. Two of the main players will try the turf for the first time and one is a Chad Brown horse. He'll take some action. The other on the rail has speed which is always dangerous if left alone. I'll lean heavy on the Big Brown colt (4) BIG LITTLE RISK as he moves back on the turf. Even though he finished 7th in his debut, he ran well while being wide on the tight turns. He'll like the wide turns the Belmont has to offer a lot better and he gets in light with the bug up. He'll offer decent odds.

We’ll also use Big Little Risk in R2 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play in the 3rd.

Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:

Race 4:

This looks to be a highly competitive first leg to the pick 3 which I landed on 4 horses. I think both the firsters from Chad Brown are logical plays in here with it being on turf and Chad looking to turn 2021 into his year. I think that Irad is poised to have one of his days and would not be smart to leave him off any ticket. I also like (6) Bernardino who has some experience and will be forwardly placed in here. The shorter distance may pay off with a trip to the winner's circle in here. (9) Ocala Dream is the last play from me who has an extended layoff, but training well headed in to this one. I like that the horse remains at the same class after the layoff and trust this horse to show some late speed as previous races have shown.

Race 5:

I am going to go 3 deep in here with Irad leading the way aboard (5) Overdressed. It always catches my attention when Irad runs at these lower level races and typically means he has the winner. He has a way of always getting the best out of his mounts no matter the level. (4) Triple Digit is a play in here I like to sit off the pace and fan out wide come stretch drive. I think this horse has shown tiring late down the stretch and I think the instructions will be to save some ground and energy around the one turn and unleash come stretch drive. (6) Texas Reward will be my last play as I think this horse will be forwardly placed throughout. This horse has sustained some decent races in her past and should show a nice effort today.

Race 6:

Again, the two Chad Brown horses look great in here and a must play to close my ticket. He also gets the Ortiz brothers to run in here and will be a tough beat for others in the field. I do like (7) Kissing Frogs in here who is entering after a gutty performance last time out where she came up just short. I expect a nice race in here from this filly and could find a better lane to run at late. Last play will be a late closing (1) Crystalle who I think will get some speed to run into. There could be an early pace battle in this race and I think that this sets up this horse the best to run down the field come stretch drive.

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 7:

This NW2L turf event is wide open as no one deserves to be a favorite. You can, however, make a case for half the field. I’ll narrow it to four and lean on (5) THAT QUALITY to try and steal this one. He’s shown speed in most of his races and we’re expecting more of the same here. (6) A VOW OF BEAUTY has turned it around in his last two. Irad won easy on him last time and he’s tried turf before. Both (4) CROI MOR and (8) ALLIED INVASION have both won on grass which most of these can’t say.

Race 8:

Both favorites will draw a lot of attention and are a must use. (4) CAPTAIN BOMBASTIC has faced fast runners last year and makes his 2021 debut. It’s worth noting that he has 3 wins in 4 starts on Big Sandy. (5) BIG ENGINE ran big last time and is in his best form right now. Jose returns so if they both run their last race, that should be enough. The interesting one is (1) BANK ON SHEA. He hasn’t run a bad one yet. He took most of 2020 off before his winning return last month. He should save some ground behind the speeds and make a run late.

Race 9

(2) PUBLIC INFORMATION has Brown and Irad in his corner and drops again. Now or never for this guy but may have found the right group. (1) STAND WITH MO also drops in for a tag and picks up Franco. Clement usually heats up this time of year so were expecting a big run today. (8) DECLAREATRUCE has improved in each start and he gets Javier today. Should stalk and gather momentum through the stretch. (10) JARREAU gets a serious upgrade with Jose and drops slightly. His last race is best of this group and needs to only Re-Pete that.
