Spring time racing at Belmont and we are excited to cash some tickets on opening day! We are going to attack a pair of pick 3 plays that covers the pick 6 sequence. I will be locked into races 3-5 and Big Pete will close the card with races 6-8. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on races 1 & 2, so we will have the entire card covered. We appreciate you taking a look at the write-up and are excited to make it a profitable day! GOOD LUCK.

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R7: 1, 2, 4
R8: 1, 5, 9, 13
Cost: $48.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
Play a pick 4 with (4) Principled Stand singled. This horse is going to be much the best in here and worth a single to use in vertical plays.
$0.50 Pick 4:
R2: 4
R3: 3,6,9
R4: 3,4,7
R5: 2,3,7
Cost: $13.50
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
If feels like Atras was using two 6F races as workouts to prepare (7) TRIPLE AMERICANO for todays 1M one turn event. Only one workout since Feb and his stable mate is also entered to give him a target. He’ll be short odds but he should be a handful against this bunch. We’ll try to get a price underneath and use the entry and Zuzudini to come late for the place.
$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 7 w/ 1, 5 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also use Triple Americano in R1 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
(4) Principled Stand and (5) So High look solid in the 2nd
$ 7.00 Double 7 w/ 4, 5 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 3:
I landed on three in here and going to try and beat the Chad Brown horse. (3) Zerenia has the speed in here to find the early lead and not look back. I like the post position on this horse and expect an aggressive ride from Kendrick. (6) Determined Heart is coming in after almost a year off and has shown ability in previous races. I am going to give this horse a try in this one to close strongly against a fast pace. Last play will be (9) Ostracize who has been improving recently and could be running against the field that allows her to sustain a winning race.
$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 3,6,9 Cost: $12.00
Race 4:
(3) Always Sunshine looks great coming into this one and I thought about singling. I think that Jose Ortiz will be able to sit right behind the lead and force horses to his outside to exert a little more energy than they would like early. I think that pays off late with a late passing run down the stretch. With that said, I do like (4) Square Shooter to be a horse running a similar style race and could be in a little bit better form than (3) Always Sunshine. I also like a late closing (7) Fed Funds who has youth on his side and shown the ability to make up ground in a hurry; Irad gets the mount as well.
$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 3,4,7 Cost: $12.00
Race 5:
(3) Maxwell Esquire is the most likely winner in here and a must play. I also think that (7) Battle Station will run a similar style race and both of these horses could run away with this one. I just do not want to overlook (2) Fast Getaway in here who has an extended layoff coming in, but the consistently good workouts lead me to believe this horse is ready to run a big one in here. I think this horse could play upset to the heavy favorites in here.
$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 2,3,7 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 6:
Clement and Brown will likely decide this 10F lap around the Belmont oval. (2) COALITION BUILDINGshowed promise in 2019 almost getting to Antoinette as that one turned out ok. Most likely needed her last and the farther the better for this filly. (5) HIGHER TRUTH is a Galileo so going long on the turf will be her thing. She will make her stable mate earn it. (1) COMMUNITY ADJUSTED and (7) SPITIAL have both shown signs that they can run. Either would not be a surprise to come out on top.
$7.00 WPS 5 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 2,5 w/ 1,2,5,7 Cost: $18.00
Race 7:
Mott woke up (2) A,UNT KAT in a big way. The 6.5 F for this Uncle Mo is just what she wanted. A Re-Pete of that effort makes her the one to beat. Brown will look to go back to back in here with (4) SARATOGA AFFAIR. Maybe it was the distance or the mud but I like the cutback here and she sports a bullet on 4/21 for her return to racing. The other filly coming off a layoff is (1) PLEASANT ORB. She exits a G1 where she showed some speed setting up shop behind Gamine. She may try to control this all the way so a clean break will make all the difference.
$7.00 WPS 1 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 1,4 w/ 1,2,4,6 Cost: $18.00
Race 8:
Both runners with some turf experience will take some action here. (9) MONDEUSE has shown speed both times and faded. The addition of L1 may explain or help this filly stick around a little longer. (13) MAZAL EIGHTEEN moves back in against NY Breds and switches back to turf. She drops in for a tag and will be the danger. The other two we’ll use are trying turf for the first time. (1) TRICK THE UNIVERSE is not pretty to look at ( on paper ), but she is an Artie Schiller trying grass for the first time. That’s worth a shot at the 15:1 ML. (5) UNDETECTABLE also tries turf and it’s Abreu and Franco. They can go or stalk so, if she takes to the lawn, she becomes a major threat.
