Friday racing at Belmont and we are attacking a pair of pick 3 plays that cover the PK6 sequence. We are off the turf on the card, but have plenty of competitive races to cash in on. I will be focusing in on races 5-7, and Big Pete will be focusing in on races 8-10. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we believe we can maximize on. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive new blog post notifications and a weekly blog sent to your email. GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R5: 3, 4, 8, 9
R6: 1, 2
R7: 3, 5, 9, 13, 15, 16
Cost: $48.00
Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:
R8: 4, 5, 8
R9: 3, 6, 7, 10
R10: 7, 12, 14, 15
Cost: $48.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 5:
I am putting a lot of trust in Irad Ortiz to close strongly against this field aboard the (3) Hardcore Folklore. I think this horse will get some early pace in this one to run into and I think the post position helps this horse to be able to find his spot early.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
$4.00 Ex 3 w/ 4,8,9 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 4:
I’m taking a shot here in this 4th MSW with a price. (8) EMMA AND I started her career on grass and made a nice run to get within 5 lengths of graduating. What I like here is the switch to mud. Her dad was a freak on the off going and I hoping it rubs off on her. The switch from Harkie to Rosario jumps off the page as well. I don’t think we’ll get the 20:1 ML as I find it hard that this gal will get overlooked today. I’m all in.
$10.00 WPS 8 Cost: $30.00
I’ll use (4) Gray Destiny and likely favorite (10) Mendham.
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
Starting the ticket off by going four deep. My top selection is going to be the late closing (3) Hardcore Folklore. I think that Irad will sit behind the early pace and have plenty of horse left to close well to win this one. With that said, I like (8) Wushu Warrior and (9) Orpheus to set the early pace and in case they are left alone up front I will include them. I think they get caught late, but at this level I cannot trust them to have heavy competitors late. My last play is going to be (4) Vicar's Legend who has the late closing specialist with Rosario and I think this horse will be strong late.
$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 3,4 w/ 3,4,8,9 Cost: $12.00
Race 6:
It will be tough to beat the heavy favorite in here, (2) Wasp. Pletcher is one of the best with getting horses to run longer and this horse looks to be the real deal from her first start. I will include the inside horse just for a little coverage in here, (1) Bella Domenica.
$20.00 WIN 2 Cost: $20.00
Race 7:
This is a tough race to handicap, so going to include a bunch of horses to close the ticket. (3) My Sweet Wife had a good showing on dirt last time out and getting back to it again with Jose Ortiz aboard. (5) Lovely La La is another horse I like in here moving to dirt here. I think that Castellano will be able to place this horse up front early and try and wire the field. (9) Suggestive Honor gets her states debut in here and should like some moisture in the dirt and will get a play from me. (13) Fiftyshays OfGreen has the speed in here and likes to be up front, which is where you need to be. (15) Big Bennys Tribute loves closing late and I think will excel at this distance on dirt. (16) Solitary Gem looks to be in good form and a must play from the outside.
$5.00 WPS 15 Cost: $15.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
We are on Big Sloppy, not Sandy again today. I’ll start off with the 7yr old Mare (5) JUMP FOR JOY. She’s a model of consistency at this claiming game and is not afraid of getting mud in her face. She beat many of these in the past and will be favorite to do it again. I’m try to beat her with (8) GLASS CEILING. Summers claimed her two back and is trying to get a quick return for his money. They faced slightly better in her 3rd place finish last time and Rosario returns. Should stalk the leaders and close outside. (4) NO DEAL got some confidence shipping to a B track and getting a win. Now comes back for Englehart who is going every good right now. She may try to bottom out this field and forget to stop.
$7.00 WPS 8 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 5,8 w/ 4,5,8 Cost: $12.00
Race 9:
(7) COST BASIS has been away for some time. Brown and Irad will attract a lot of attention and I’ll use, but others look more playable. (3) EDGE OF FIRE took some time off and Jerkens seems to have him ready as his works are spread out nicely and the last two are quick. The cut back to 7F works in his favor as Fire and Jose won his debut sprinting. They’ll be coming home late. (10) SUPERFECTO has the speed to be a factor here, but faces winners for the first time. Not an easy task, but his last two works on this track should put him on the lead here. He’s breed to glide over an off track which will make him dangerous. Saez doesn’t hurt as well. I’ll take at shot at this 8:1 ML. (6) WILD MEDAGLIAD’ORO has dirt races that make him part of the conversation. I’ll include on the ticket as Johnny V sticks around for this.
$7.00 WPS 10 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3,10 w/ 3,6,7,10 Cost: $18.00
Race 10:
We’ll stick with Johnny V in the finale here as he shows up on (14) TOP OF THE MINT. He takes the necessary drop to MCL and his best race to date came on mud. Likely winner. (15) OPEN LENTGHS also drops for Weaver who is making up for lost ground at the Spa meet. I’ll include but he’s had several entries leading up to this but scratched out of them. Mixed signals but trust Weaver’s decision to play today. (7) TERCERO will be on most tickets as he’s been running well enough against MSW and now drops. Likely favorite here. (12) WHICHWAYTOMALIBU is interesting here for Kimmel. He moves back to the dirt and has speed.
