We start a new month and the 3yr olds have some major preps to settle. We have 9 races on tap this Saturday at the Bid "A". The older boys take center stage in the Excelsior Stakes. I will be condensing my plays down to just the number and attacking the early double ( Races 1 & 2 ) and a spot pick 3 ( Races 4-6 ). Big Pete will attack his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 ( Races 7-9 ). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's $2.00 Early Double:

R1: 1, 3, 6

R2: 2, 7

Cost: $12.00

Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:

R4: 3, 5

R5: 2, 4, 5, 6

R6: 2, 7, 8

Cost: $16.00

Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:

R7: 3, 5, 6

R8: 1, 2, 4

R9: 1, 2, 4, 7

Cost: $ 36.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Race 3:

Martin claimed (4) MASKED MARAUDER two back and jumped him up in class and ran ok. They gave him a breather and some active drills in the AM. They play the weight game and put him in where he has proven himself already. He seems live to me and this Palace Malice won’t mind an off track.

We’ll use both (6) Foolish Ghost and (7) Quick Return underneath for 2nd.

$ 7.00 WPS 4 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Exacta 4, 6, 7 Cost $ 18.00

We’ll also use (4) Masked Marauder in R3 and try to cash in on a Daily Double.

(3) Lafitte's Fleet or (6) Gentleman Joe for me in the 4th.

$ 7.00 Daily Double 4 w/ 3, 6 Cost $ 14.00

Big Pete's Late Pick 3:

Race 7:

This one looks wide open to me. (6) JAKE ROCKS has been consistent lately and has upped his game. This 7F distance is not a problem and is not showing signs of slowing down. (3) SILVER SEEKER is a must use for me. This lightly raced 7yr old has speed and is cutting back. There is not a ton of speed in here so that works in his favor to try and control it. He’s 2 for 2 at this distance and Trevor takes over. (5) HANDSOME CAT is the wise guy choice for me. He needs the pace to develop and back up to him. He handles off tracks and gets the hot bug up. A clean trip makes him dangerous at a price.

$ 7.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 3, 5, 6 Cost $ 18.00

Race 8:

I’ll lean heavy on both favorites and throw in a savor. (2) LAW PROFESSOR is the class and if he brings his A game, it’s over. (4) MILES D has some races that would win this as Brown gets more involved on the NYRA circuit this time of year. The savor is the Curlin runner, (1) CURLIN’S WISDOM. He won’t mind the added distance as this plodder can keep coming if the others get tired.

$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex Box 1, 2, 4 Cost $ 18.00

Race 9:

Both favorite’s have speed which will make this finale interesting if they go at it. (2) SUPER COACH FRED was claimed by Atras and will take a lot of money. The problem is that the drop him off that claim. That raises all kinds of flags for me. I’ll only use defensively. The other favorite is the other Atras. (7) BOLD HONOR came out running in his debut but then threw in the towel in the stretch. Both look suspect to me so I landed on (1) BRASS MONKEY. He finished in front of Fred two back and then faced a runaway winner next out. They figure to sit behind the speeds and make a run late.

$ 7.00 WPS 1 Cost $ 21.00

$ 3.00 Ex 1, 2 w/ 1, 2, 3, 7 Cost $ 18.00
