Cigar Mile day at Aqueduct looks fantastic with the four stake races and we have the entire card covered. I will be locked into the early double (Races 1 & 2) and a spot pick 3 (Races 5-7). Big Pete will have his full breakdown on his "Play of the Day" and the late pick 3 (Races 8-10). We appreciate you taking a look at this write-up and GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 2.00 Early Double:
R1: 1, 2, 7
R2: 3, 4, 5, 8
Cost: $24.00
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R5: 1, 3, 5, 6
R6: 2, 5, 6, 8
R7: 1, 2, 6
Cost: $48.00
Big Pete's $ 1.00 Late Pick 3:
R8: 1, 4, 7
R9: 3, 5, 6
R10: 1, 4, 6
Cost: $ 27.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 1:
The two horses to the inside with experience jump off the page. I am leaning on (1) Script in here who gets the rail position and has been impressive in morning workouts coming into this one. I think Jose Ortiz will allow this horse to find his footing early and be able to have a convincing stretch drive. (2) Fenwick has also been training well and will be forwardly placed throughout; that could be too much of an ask for the opponents to pass. (7) Long Term has the connections and lineage in this one to warrant a play. This horse is poised to run a big race first time out and just can't leave him off the ticket.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 1,2,7 Cost: $12.00
Race 2:
(3) Robyn and Eli is going to be the favorite and for good reason. This horse is going to improve second time out and just missed her first time out. (4) Autumn Glory has been training well and Clement has some nice two year olds in the barn and will have a late kick under Dylan Davis. (5) Regal Rebel switches surfaces and should be able to sustain a bigger run in this one. I think Kendrick will be aggressive early and will use the blinders to his advantage. (8) Sweet Lies is also switching surfaces and training well coming inot this one. I think the extra distance will support this horse and Jose Ortiz is getting the mount again; BUMP.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 3,4 w/ 3,4,5,8 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 5,8 w/ 3,4,5,8 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3:
With zero speed to his inside, (6) BALLYDOOLEY should have clear sailing to the front of the pack. If Manny can keep Fast Getaway at bay, they should be difficult to reel in through the stretch. The two Maker geldings can both make it interesting late if Dooley feels the pressure early.
(8) Artemus Citylimits and (9) Cucina to close in late.
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 6, 8, 9 Cost $ 18.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 4:
Atras reached in to claim a sharp (9) REGAL QUALITY and doesn’t need to improve much to beat this group. Carmouche will have plenty of time to get forward and close to the rail with this long backstretch run. The can get little daylight around the turn and hold off the closers.
I’ll use with (4) Kumar and (5) Sicilia Mike to rally for 2nd.
$ 7.00 WPS 9 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex Box 4, 5, 9 Cost $ 18.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 5:
(1) Willakia will improve second time out on this track and I like the inside post and Jose Ortiz choosing to mount again. (3) MarketSegmentation is a firster from the Chad Brown barn that warrants a play with some nice workouts coming in and the race being on grass. (5) Hard Place is going to show speed throughout this one and will be a tough catch late with the experience under her belt. (6) Rosebug just missed last time out and gets Luis Saez aboard in this one. We should expect an aggressive ride throughout and a late kick to compete for the wire.
$3.00 WPS 6 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 3,6 w/ 1,3,5,6 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 1,5 w/ 1,3,5,6 Cost: $6.00
Race 6:
(2) Fiery Heart is going to show plenty of speed in this sprint and I like playing horses that I think will be on or right behind the lead early. (5) Carpe's Dream is going to be sitting behind the pace and wait for the lane to open to compete for the wire. (6) Urban Forest is a victim of some tough trips and should be the favorite in here. I think this horse will be ready to fly by tiring horses late. (8) U Kant Whip It is a horse I really like to improve with the surface switch and will be coming strong down the stretch at a price.
$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 2,5 w/ 2,5,6,8 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 6,8 w/ 2,5,6,8 Cost: $6.00
Race 7:
(2) Lady Rocket is the horse to beat in here and I will only be including two others in case this horse is not on her "A" game. (1) Miss Marissa is a horse with the post and the cut back in distance will allow this horse to show off that early speed and sustain a big race. (6) Truth Hurts is my last play who should get a rail ride from Tyler Gaffalione and wait for the moment to strike down the stretch in a convincing way.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 1,2,6 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 8:
Pletcher looks live in all three races in this late pick 3. (1) MO DONEGAL looked beat coming into the stretch and finally kicked it in late. That bodes well for him today as he clearly will relish the two turns. Irad figures to save some ground from their rail draw and wait for the others to back up. I don’t think (4) FROMANOTHAMUTHA wants to go this far but may be alone up front. Manny needs a breather somewhere if they want to last. (7) ZANDON was impressive first out but he’s being asked to do too much too early with only his 2nd start today. He can pick up the piece late for a minor award.
$ 7.00 Ex 1 w/ 4, 7 Cost $ 14.00
$ 3.00 Ex 4, 7 w/ 1, 4, 7 Cost $ 12.00
Race 9:
This one goes through (5) NEST. She lost focus until it was too late and now gets Irad back. I’m thinking she gets involved early in the race and gets first jump on the closers. The 9F is not a problem. The NY Bred, (3) VENTI VALENTINE will get overlook in here but figures to make some noise. She’ll get a perfect trip under Johnny V and wait for his signal to pass the tiring fillies. (6) TAP THE FAITH should handle the distance but she is thrown to the wolves fresh off her maiden score. She can easily climb into 2nd.
$ 7.00 Ex 5 w/ 3, 6 Cost $ 14.00
$ 3.00 Ex 3, 6 w/ 3, 5, 6 Cost $ 12.00
Race 10:
(1) FOLLOWING SEA has gained star status with his last two runs. The one turn helps so if he can stretch his talent to this 1M distance, look out. With Speightstown underneath, I’m guessing he’ll be just fine, The California invader, (6) GINOBILI has also come on strong in the 2nd half of the year. He’s proven he can get this trip and brings his jock with him. I think it comes down to these two. If the above two go at it early, I will use a savor in here with (4) CODE OF HONOR. This one turn, 1M distance is about it for him so if he gets the perfect set up, he’ll arrive late to the scene.
