We are going to remain consistent in our plays at the Big A and attack a pair of pick 3 plays, but we also are going to take some action at Gulfstream. How can we stay out of south Florida on Pegasus World Cup day? We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to try and take down and improve the bankroll; this could be at Aqueduct or Gulfstream. Make sure to subscribe to the newsletter to receive new blog post notifications and a weekly blog sent to your email. GOOD LUCK.

Little Pete's "Plays of the Day":

Course: Gulfstream

Race 8:

I am all in on (1) Always Shopping in this one with the great rail position and the KING on grass with Irad aboard. I expect a repeat performance in this one and taking a shot with our ticket with an early single.

$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00

Race 9:

I think there will be speed to run into late down the stretch in this one and landed on a late surging (3) Bronx Beauty in this one. Had to spread in the play a bit as this race could be run away with by the speed as well, but think a closer will get it done.

$3.00 WPS 3 Cost: $9.00

Race 10:

Plenty of speed in this one as well and it is tough for me to bet against (5) Sadler's Joy in here to get it done. I think that Jose Ortiz will be able to sit behind the early pace in this mile and a half race and have a convincing stretch drive to take this one.

$3.00 WPS 5 Cost: $9.00

Race 11:

Rosario has the right horse in here and looks to be ascending at the moment. He will be able to fan out wide in this one and have that patented Rosario late charge to challenge the forwardly placed Pletcher entries in here.

$3.00 WPS 8 Cost: $9.00

Race 12:

I think Gaffalione will have a say as to who wins this finale. I think that there may be an early pace battle and love the thought of (10) Code of Honor sitting right behind this pace from the outside and be able to sustain a big run late in this one.

$3.00 WPS 10 Cost: $9.00

Big Pete's "Play of the Day":

Course: Aqueduct

Race 2:

Most of these trainers in here play the claiming game very well. This race has a for sale sign written all over it. They want to move these veterans out as most of them appear to be tailing off. The one that still appears in form is (3) DIRECT ORDER. Noda grabbed him three back and he hasn’t disappointed. He likes to come from behind and the races does set up for a closer to come and get them. There’s a few in here with speed and the 1M distance looks too far for them to sustain in their current form. Vargas has been on for both of Direct Order’s prior two races and should have finally figured this one out.

$ 7.00 WPS 3 Cost $ 21.00

We’ll use him with the two outsiders for our exacta.

(2) Supreme Aura and (5) Dark Storm

$ 7.00 Exacta 3 w/ 2, 5 Cost $ 14.00

We’ll also use Direct Order in R2 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.

(3) Tenderfoot and (5) Backsideofthemoon look solid in the 3rd

$ 7.00 Double 3 w/ 3, 5 Cost $ 14.00

Little Pete's Aqueduct Spot Pick 3:

Race 4:

I will take the low hanging fruit here and go with the heavy favorite in (6) BustinMyGroove, but I will not be singling. This horse is in a lower level maiden claiming race for a reason and I cannot trust this horse as a single on my ticket. Nothing against her as it is not personal. I am going to take a chance with the Rudy firster in (2) Scott Alaia who I think has some good workouts leading in and in this sprint I like horses on the inside to save ground and have a little more left in the tank then the horses to their outside. My last play will be (5) Edge of Anxiety who I think will have some early speed in here and stalk the early pace of the heavy favorite and if the horse in front of her begins to tire out then I like the chances of this horse to run right by her.

$3.00 WPS 2 Cost: $9.00

$3.00 Ex 6 w/ 2,5 Cost: $6.00

$2.00 Ex 2,5 w/ 2,5,6 Cost: $8.00

Race 5:

I like (7) Rift Valley coming into this one after breaking his maiden to run a big race in here against winners. I think Lezcano will be able to allow this horse to find his footing early and will be a very dangerous horse late. I really like (1) Advanced Strategy to run a similar style in this one and benefit from the inside position. This horse is coming in after posting a nice beyer on dirt and I think the small cutback in distance will benefit this horse greatly. (5) Kaz's Beach is another horse I like in here getting McCarthy the mount to seek the early lead. If they allow this horse to set the fractions throughout then it will be tough to catch this horse late and he could run away with it. (4) Too Early is an interesting horse in here with Manny aboard. I think that this horse will be ridden aggressively from the gate to find a nice stalking position and Manny is one of the best come stretch drive if the horse has enough left in the tank.

$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 1,7 w/ 1,4,5,7 Cost: $12.00

$1.00 Ex 4,5 w/ 1,4,5,7 Cost: $6.00

Race 6:

(9) Stella Mars looks much the best in here to me if she is on her B+ game. We can not promise that she will do that so will have to spread a bit. I like the surface switch on (3) Gun Hill Girl and think she will run a much better race this time out. The workouts seem to indicate to me that she is ready to run a forwardly placed race. (7) Bley is a firster I will try against this group from the Rudy Rodriguez barn. Workouts look consistent and pretty good and Rudy puts his horses in races they have the best chance of winning. (8) Tremayne is my interesting play in here who I think will strongly improve from her first effort and will break better from the gate. I think this horse has some pep in her step and will be ready to roll this time out at a price.

$3.00 WPS 7 Cost: $9.00

$2.00 Ex 7,9 w/ 3,7,8,9 Cost: $12.00

$1.00 Ex 3,8 w/ 3,7,8,9 Cost: $6.00

Big Pete's Aqueduct Late Pick 3:

Race 7:

NW2L runners go at it which is always a challenge. I had to dig deep and I came up with (3) IMPLIED VOLATILITY. I went all the way back to his March 20 win for this. It was his maiden win on this track. He meets similar rivals as today and Rudy calls on Manny who gave this guy a winning run the last time he was on him to get 3rd. The 7F should help (8) ROYAL SUSPECT and Carmouche like it did in his maiden win three back. He’ll probably let the outside runner go and sit right off him. I Suspect they’ll make their move coming into the stretch and try to hold off any closers. (5) QUINTARELLI will be trying to close in late. He drops slightly and cuts back.

$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 3,8 w/ 2,3,5,8 Cost: $18.00

Race 8:

Tenderfoot freaked in the mud last time so keep an eye on R3 to see how he does today. I’ll use two out of that race starting with (5) OBSESSED. Distance doesn’t seem to be an issue and Davis can use his speed to get good position. Guessing they’ll sit right behind Lost In Rome and take over when Dylan wants. (4) AASR has had trouble staying on the race track so it’s a good sign that he wheels back 3 weeks later for this. That was his first attempt against winners and he was only 2 lengths from Obsessed. I’m expecting this one to improve today. (6) MALIBUSTAR jumps off the page when he stretched out. He posted a big number beating maidens. His morning works remain fast and is the horse to beat. A must use, but faces winners today.

$7.00 WPS 4 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 4,5 w/ 2,4,5,6 Cost: $18.00

Race 9:

We’ll key on the Summer Bourbon race on Jan 1st as he returned this week to win again. The logical one is (8) WINNING DRIVE who finished 2nd that day. He did all the dirty work before being caught late. A similar run makes him very dangerous today. He’ll have to deal with (11) IT’S HOT OUT up front though. He picks up Davis and has been 1st or 2nd over 60% of the time. Not at this level but that’s pretty good nonetheless. I can’t resist

(2) TALE OF MIST. He’s clearly past his prime but has recently closed well in his last three attempts. He figures to save ground breaking from the rail and we’ll hope that Castro can keep him out of trouble. He’s worth a shot at his ML odds. Similar can be said about (4) SAN JUAN DIEGO. He finished right behind Winning Drive and Mist.

$7.00 WPS 2 Cost: $21.00

$3.00 Ex 2,8 w/ 2,4,8,11 Cost: $18.00
