Saturday racing at Aqueduct and the day is poised to be a big one for Jose Ortiz. On paper he appears to be flirting with a 5 win race day, but that is why we run the races; anything can happen! We are going to remain consistent with our plays and attack a pair of pick 3 plays that covers the pick 6 sequence. I will be focused on races 4-6 and Big Pete will close the card with races 7-9. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a couple of races we would like to try and improve our bankroll on. GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $ 1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R4: 3, 4, 5, 7
R5: 2, 5
R6: 1, 3, 6, 8 Cost: $32.00
Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:
R7: 2, 5, 7, 8
R8: 4, 7, 8
R9: 2, 5, 6, 9 Cost: $ 48.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 3 :
Everyone entered is searching for their 2nd win EXCEPT (5) Respect For All. This Uncle Mo sports two blowout wins, both on this track. He's fresh off the Bruce Brown claim and McCarthy returns. The slight cut back to 7F should work in his favor as there are a few in here with speed to target.
$ 5.00 WPS 5 Cost $ 15.00
$ 3.00 Exacta 5 w/ 1, 2 Cost $ 6.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
Both favorites in the opener are coming off their maiden win. I don’t usually care for them next time out against winners for the first time. So I’ll look for a price to kick off this Saturday at the Big A. (8) RED MULE went out west for the winter and enjoyed a mini vacation. He was a non threatening 6th when he faced better in Jan. Now Falcone ships him back off a couple of fast works. I’m guessing Carmouche was chosen to get him into the race early as he can be aggressive out of the gate.
(6) Disciplanarian and (9) Scuttlebuzz like to start their running late. These two will try to work out a trip to grab the place.
$ 7.00 WPS 8 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 8 w/ 6, 9 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also use Red Mule in R1 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
(3) Miss Bonnie T and (7) Zoikes look solid in the 2nd
$ 7.00 Double 8 w/ 3, 7 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 4:
(7) Guardian Moon is facing winners for the first time, so that does intimidate me a bit but this horse looks too good to leave off the ticket. The two Clement horses look dangerous in here as well, so will include both. I prefer the (4) Snicket in here to run a sustain big race and close strongly down the stretch. Last play will be (5) More Glitter who I think will get an aggressive ride under Carmouche and be able to navigate a trip in here to compete.
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 4,7 w/ 3,4,5,7 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 3,5 w/ 3,4,5,7 Cost: $6.00
Race 5:
I am going to try and beat (5) Horologist with the Saffie runner (2) Queen Nekia. It is a, what have you done for me lately world, and I think that (2) Queen Nekia is in good form. She ran well to upset the G3 Royal Delta field last time and Jose will likely try the same tactics today to take this one. I am going to leave it to these two horses to duke it out late as I think the (3) Mrs. Danvers and (4) Lucky Stride tire each other out.
$5.00 WPS 2 Cost: $15.00
$4.00 Ex Box 2,5 Cost: $8.00
Race 6:
(1) Gearhead is in good form and the post position should allow a rail trip throughout. I think this horse is a major player in here. (3) Vettori Kin gets the drop in class and gets Jose Ortiz back aboard. This could be the wake up this horse needs to get to the winner's circle. (6) Noble Thought travels well and will be ready to roll under the direction of Kendrick Carmouche. My last play will be a bit of a price that is getting back to grass and should be able to handle some faster fractions in (8) Castagno. I think this horse will be ridden aggressively from the gate and could have a head start on the field come stretch drive.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,3 w/ 1,3,6,8 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 6,8 w/ 1,3,6,8 Cost: $6.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 7:
The focus will be on (8) YANKEE DIVISION based on his last two. But the track aided him a little there as the rail was the place to be both days. He’ll have to work out a trip from out there so we’ll look elsewhere. (5) FAMILY BIZ keeps improving and sports a bullet last month. He drops slightly and stretches to his favorite distance. The only other that we’ll use is (7) ARHAM. This guy looks to have potential. He’s only sprinted in both of his starts and looked good doing it. He’s bred to get better the farther he goes. He’ll tackle the distance today but still only go around one turn. Pletcher has come out blazing this spring meet and I don’t see him easing up on the gas today.
$ 7.00 WPS 7 Cost $ 21.00
$ 3.00 Ex 7, 8 w/ 2, 5, 7, 8 Cost $ 18.00
Race 8:
The two G1 runners are the Gorilla’s in the room but both are coming off a layoff and shown signs of tailing off just before their mini vacations. They both can win this from memory but it won’t be easy. (7) ANALYZE IT will likely sit behind the speed and come late. (4) DECORATED INVADER has been the most consistent runner the past two seasons. I like the cut back to the 1M as that’s where he has most of his wins. I have to take a shot with (8) DELAWARE. The other Chad will get a little lost in the betting. His Artie Schiller run last November is what stands out here. A Re-Pete of that is all he needs to get the job done today. Franco gets the call.
$ 7.00 WPS 8 Cost $ 21.00
$ 5.00 Ex 4, 8 w/ 4, 7, 8 Cost $ 20.00
Race 9:
There are two in here that stand out the most. (9) PAVE IT will be a handful today. He was well clear of the 3rd place finisher and that one returned to break his maiden. He’ll have to deal with (5) ROYAL KAZ early on but Carmouche will most likely muscle his way to the front. Jose on (6) HANGOUT makes that one a little more interesting. Donk tried turf and now moves back to the dirt and sprints. L1 may also explain why he’s been backing up in both of his starts. (2) HOTEL CHARLIE is who I’ll lean on. He was wide for all of his debut run and moves inside. Cancel can sit a wait for the right time to let him go. The slight drop should make all the difference for this guy.
