Thursday racing at the Big A and we are getting a little break in the frigid weather. We will remain consistent in our plays and be attacking a pair of pick 3 plays that cover the Pick 6 sequence. I will be focused on races 3-5 and Big Pete will be locked into races 6-8. We also will have our "Play of the Day" on a race we would like to try and improve our bankroll on. GOOD LUCK.
Little Pete's $1.00 Spot Pick 3:
R3: 1, 3, 4, 5
R4: 1, 4, 6, 7
R5: 1, 2, 9
Cost: $48.00
Big Pete's $1.00 Late Pick 3:
R6: 1, 3, 6
R7: 1, 2, 3, 5
R8: 1, 4, 5, 9
Cost: $48.00
Little Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 1:
This race does not have a horse in it with lower odds that I like in here so going to go out on a limb with the firster in (4) Tapifly. The workouts leading in are consistent and pretty decent. I think this horse will be able to sit behind the pace and run a convincing closing race against this field at a decent price (Which is what matters to me).
$5.00 WPS 4 Cost: $15.00
$2.00 Ex 4 w/ 1,2,3,6 Cost: $8.00
$1.00 Ex 1,2,3,6 w/ 4 Cost: $4.00
Big Pete's "Play of the Day":
Race 2:
Favorite, Miss Peppina, has already lost three in a row as odds on. Now Pletcher ships her in to try to steal one. I’m not convince so I’ll look elsewhere. I’ll follow Franco who now lands on (6) PRINCESS PINKY. Something went wrong in July and it didn’t get any better when she returned in Nov. Her last two indicate that she may be on the mend. She got on track to get 2nd last time and Franco must have liked what he saw. He stays here and they will be a much better price than the questionable favorite.
$ 7.00 WPS 6 Cost $ 21.00
$ 7.00 Exacta 6 w/ 1, 2 Cost $ 14.00
We’ll also use Princess Pinky in R2 and try to cash in on a DAILY DOUBLE play.
(1) Conformist and (3) Run Casper Run both look solid in the 3rd
$ 7.00 Double 6 w/ 1, 3 Cost $ 14.00
Little Pete's Spot Pick 3:
Race 3:
A competitive first leg to this ticket with most of the field having a chance on paper. (2) Taino was my top pick in here, so have to change it up a bit with the scratch. (1) Conformist is exiting the same race as (2) Taino and I think that previous race is tougher than this field. I expect Manny to use the rail position to his advantage and makes this horse a danger come stretch drive. (4) Brooklyn Law is a dangerous horse in here as I expect Kendrick to want the lead. If the field allows this horse to set the fractions, then it could be a wire to wire effort. (5) BustinMyGroove will be my last play here who is coming in off of a win and claim. This horse will be aggressive from the gate and this distance is suitable for a front running score. *(3) Run Casper Run will be included because Big Pete seems to like him*
$3.00 WPS 4 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,4 w/ 1,3,4,5 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 3,5 w/ 1,3,4,5 Cost: $6.00
Race 4:
The heavy favorite in here, (7) DoublePour, looks to be the best on paper and a must play for me. With that said, I will be trying to beat with three others. (1) Reunion Tour had a rough trip in the fog last time out, but the races previous to that show strong potential for this horse. I will give this horse another chance in here based off the rail position and the potential. (4) Patty O'Marc has the Cancel/Rice connection and the workouts signal a stalking horse in here. That sets up Eric Cancel for a late surge down the stretch and Linda Rice wins a lot of races at this level. (6) LouLovesTheRiver will be my last play in here who has been improving each time out on the course and could have run into the field that is susceptible to a late charging horse.
$3.00 WPS 1 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex 1,7 w/ 1,4,6,7 Cost: $12.00
$1.00 Ex 4,6 w/ 1,4,6,7 Cost: $6.00
Race 5:
I am playing (6) Movie Score to be the early pace in here and will be trying to beat with three closers in here. (1) Miss Liana has the rail position and has won a race in closing fashion. The pace should be relatively speedy at this level and I like this horse to be able to save a lot of ground in here. (2) Cover Photo will be a tough horse early and be in a stalking position behind the pace. I am hoping this horse challenges for a rail position and have a late kick down the stretch to compete for this one. Last play will be the outside horse in (9) Lem Me Have It who will be a very dangerous horse late. I am think Manny will allow this horse to break freely from the gate and find a nice ground saving position to allow this horse to run wide come stretch drive.
$3.00 WPS 9 Cost: $9.00
$2.00 Ex Box 1,2,9 Cost: $12.00
Big Pete's Late Pick 3:
Race 6:
(3) BLU GROTTO has been showing speed and going longer. Now Kimmel drops him slightly and cuts back. A positive move for a barn that is going good right now. Carmouche subs in and will be on the engine early. The entry will offer plenty of speed and a closer to clean up late. (1A) CHAMBO won’t mind if the speeds hook up and go at it. Cancel will bide his time and come late and hope that they back up. (6) EPONA RISING was just too bad last time and now drops and picks up Davis today. We’ll include and give Hennig another shot as he faced a salty group of MSW last time.
$7.00 WPS 6 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 1,6 w/ 1,3,6 Cost: $12.00
Race 7:
I’ll focus on two exiting the 1/30 race when they tackled this same level. (5) SEVEN LILES ran strong late to win by four. There is plenty of speed up front for him to come and get them. There’s no reason to think this gray can’t Re-Pete. (3) SOUTH AFRICA has been as on a roll in his last five outings. He finished behind Seven Lilies last time but I’m guessing he’ll be a little more difficult to pass today as he’ll get first jump and try to get separation before Lilies charge. Both (1) DARK MONEY and (2) DOUBLE SHOT are coming off wins in their last race and both looked sharp doing it.
$7.00 WPS 3 Cost: $21.00
$3.00 Ex 3,5 w/ 1,2,3,5 Cost: $18.00
Race 8:
I’ll focus on the runners exiting the Taino Jan 8th race. The two that will take money are (1) BEATTHATFLEW and (5) IN THE ZONE. Both closed to get 2nd and 3rd that day and that looks like the plan today. In The Zone gets L1 and a big jock switch, so I like him more. I will take a price here and try to steal it with potential lone speed (9) CAPE COD GEM. He fought for most the way before tiring. He may have it all to himself today and with speed being dangerous, that’s where I’ll go. (4) LITTERBOX was getting on track late in that Taino race then, he tried stretching out. I like the cutback here to the 6F.
